How to make a strap system for setting up a tent in the rain
Просмотров 14 тыс.4 года назад
Upon massive request, I have put together this quick video on how I made the strap system to allow double wall tents users to set up their tent in the rain. My strap system has been adapted to the MSR Hubba Hubba NX tent but it can work for alot of other tents with similar pole system. Here are the links on where I managed to get the parts for the strap system: 10mm Slider Adjuster: www.ebay.co...
DIY Bouldering Wall Build during home isolation.
Просмотров 3154 года назад
Been stuck at home during home isolation inspired us to extend and build a new bouldering wall for the family to exercise and train whilst stuck at home. we have made it flat for now but planning to extend the back section under the car port to make it with an overhang. In the mean time, enjoy a quick vide of our build. Total build cost only $649 AUD.

Werribee Gorge Family Hike
Просмотров 3184 года назад
A Project Outbound family field trip to Werribee Gorge State Park to explore the Circuit Track which is approximately 10kms round trip. It was fantastic day for it and we had a great time, taking lots of breaks in between at the major viewpoints and sites. It took us around 5.5 hours but you can do it in 4 hours if you push through. We love the views as well as the Werribee River path with the ...

Thanks mate : ))
And now in the combination with wind. :)
Great idea 💡 thanks for sharing!!
I use a 3mil cord. Loop at one "head" spin around other "head" pole.( nemo hornet) Slip knot at end. Fly over poles, light stake out. Set up tent under fly or on the outside. Once cord is attached to the "head," poles I can push on the "toe" pole and once arch is correct loop cord around pole bottom and frame is up.
Genius - thanks!
Still no joy with the corner pieces please either make them and sell them or make the design dimensions available online.
email me at letsgo@projectoutbound.com.au as we do make and sell them.
Get a tent that sets up outer first, or inner and outer together, simple.
Looks great. Gotta create the straps to hold my tent's poles. Watched another video where the tent, fly, and groundsheet are packed together, and you lay it out, and slide the poles under the fly, and then stand the poles up. I will definitely try this too if I can create the straps to hold the pole. Don't know which method I'll go with. Thanks for the video

Thanks. Very helpful. The use and construction of the straps was not clear. But, I get it.
Totally irrelevant for my tent. The poles thread through the inner. I don't have piles of money to spend on your make of tent, you should change the title to "how to for wealthy people". Thank you.
Wait, how do I get straps like that?
Great video! Thank you. The strapping idea is pretty clever.
I built something similar. For placing the poles I used a couple of caps of PET bottles in which I drilled holes for the strings that I used.
That's awesome. Please share photos!
Do you have a video where you make that strap system?
If you don’t have this ribbon can this method still work using foot print
Yes you can use the footprint, but the footprint will be wet so up to whether you mind it being wet.
Thanks for the instructional video I learned a lot but I wish you'd told how to make that hoopstrap
you might want to invest in a patent before the big manufacturers see this 🙂
Its called a tarp
I need those straps!! Please let me know where you purchased or how to make it. Thank you!
Hi Mat, happy to help, just email me at letsgo@projectoutbound.com.au
thanks you for your great video , it's give me all answer i wanted to know about this tent
Thank you for this video. I know they are starting to make tents that set up rain fly first, but your video encourages people to use the tent they have. Thank you.
Fantastic, many thanks
This was a great video! Taught me a lot both about my new tent, and how to do the rain thing -- I remember one time literally bailing out a tent, and this will be... better. :-) Also really enjoyed the light/funny moments. Rock on!
Glad I watched your video, thanks for making it! I'm cycling through the Alps and the forecast is quite rainy. 💧🤘
Absolutely fantastic idea... would like to see one made of ultra light paracord, for those of us who like to weigh everything for backpacking. Brilliant and ingenious.
Any chance you can send me the sizes of your svg file so I can print some for my dad
Great video. Thanks! My solution was to set up a tarp to sit under then have my wife go set up the tent. Doesn't work very well cause she won't go backpacking with me any more.
Haha...no wonder she won't go backpacking with you anymore. :)
@@darionteoh Thank goodness for kids! ;)
That is brilliant! Well done!
Like it although a simple rigging setup using dynema cord would also work and would be less bulky. Great idea though.
Awesome idea. I will try yo to the loops with some line and use a already setup tent as measurement. Thank you for the idea. New to camping, so im researching b4 for i go this weekend. ✌🏼🦁
Hi Leo, Yes, a line with loops (Alpine butterfly) works as well but it does get tangle up easily so pack it well :) Have a great trip and stay dry!
We actually sell this tent in my store and it is absolutely amazing and I will definitely be using it on my upcoming through hike
This is a brilliant, gave me inspiration and I prototyped up similar using my 3dprinter and some thin cord. Works well! Thanks for posting!
@randomdreaming - would you be willing to share the 3dprinter plan file you used? I have the printer but didn't find anything on thingiverse...TIA
Good strategy, thanks!
Great idea. Thanks.
Beautifull! Thanks a million! Just saw your other video of putting up the tent in the rain and like many others, left a comment asking about where to get your perfect strap system. Now I know. I'll take soem measurements and get to it. Thanks again! ;)
@Project Outbound That strap your using to fix the tent poles in/to, anyway that'sstill available anywhere? Or, did you make it yourself?? Thank in advance for your response!
The upper cross piece must be above the ridge pole, not below it
Excellent video!!!
Where did you get the straps
Absolutely Brilliant.
Thanks so much for this video, answered all my questions!
Really good idea, genuinely impressed.
great idea, Thanks!
Hoping I don't seem dense but the inner had a groundsheet on the bottom so why does it matter if the footprint gets wet?
What a fantastic idea, thank you so much for sharing!
Great tips! Im actually going camping and its going to rain , and your video has helped me. Thanks.
Do you share the measurements for that bracket? And if you have it as a dxf file even better 😁
Very helpful. Thank you!
Do you sell these ? Or at least those black pieces that the webbing and poles loop through ?
Email letsgo@projectoutbound.com.au and it will be sorted.
