      That's awesome! Pelican kayaks are highly underrated. I have greatly enjoyed both that I have owned. The fall is usually a very good time on the Leon. Especially later like the end of November. I put berkley vanish 8lb flouro on my Abu Garcia 20 and Shimano 2500, dunno how it'd work on big bass but it's good for pinfish, white grunts, mangrove and lane snappers.

    • @beardzerofishing
      @beardzerofishing 7 месяцев назад

      I haven't had much experience with saltwater fishing. I have tried Berkley Vanish in a heavier rating and did not enjoy it at all. If I remember correctly, it had a ton of memory which really surprised me. Casting was not great with it either but, I only tried the one and not a bunch of different weight ratings to play around. That price tag is too hefty for me to play around like that with it 😂🤣👍. Thank you for your comment! Wishing you tight lines and good fights!

    Fluro is only invisible when it is in a specific position to the sun under water. Otherwise it looks the same as mono under water.

    I like a 7:1 range. That ratio fits my personal style and lure selections the best for a one rod situation.

    • @beardzerofishing
      @beardzerofishing 10 месяцев назад

      At the end of the day, we all choose what is best for our personal fishing styles and techniques. At 7:1 that is a relatively fast reel and wouldn't be one that I would complain about lol. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍

    I heard bass could remember! In my lake it gets fished A LOT so we use live bait it works everytime!

    • @beardzerofishing
      @beardzerofishing 10 месяцев назад

      I have always kind of known they have memory, I just didn't know how well it actually was lol. Live bait definitely works well! Normally I don't use live bait like minnows, mostly for the difficulty it presents to move around on the bank with them while keeping them healthy. It's also hit or miss on even finding them in my area, only a handful of shops have them and they sell out quick! Thanks for watching and commenting 👍

      It is definitely Smallmouth candy 🤣😂👍! The drop shot is something I don't use alot down here in Texas. Normally, it's because I only have my baitcasters with me to not overcrowd myself on the bank or in the kayak. Thanks for commenting bro 👍

    How do you know when it sinks all the way to the bottom? The worm too or just the sinker?

    • @beardzerofishing
      @beardzerofishing 10 месяцев назад

      It is really hard to mess up the drop shot rig, even for beginners! More specifically I was talking about the weight, but it's not a problem if the worm touches down too, especially if it is weedless like in the video. If you know the depth, you can count approximately 1 second per foot to sink. So if it's 10ft deep, count to atleast 10. Otherwise, you can just leave your spool open to release line for a while. Another way is to watch the line as the lure is sinking, when it hits bottom, the line will stop pulling away from you and go Slack. Hopefully this helps! Thank you for watching and for your question 👍

      And I would say that I greatly appreciate your confidence in me lol. Last fall I caught one about that size and it became my new personal best! • @coreyd.787
    @coreyd.787 11 месяцев назад

    Gear ratio selection should be based on bait choice when it comes to bass fishing.

    • @beardzerofishing
      @beardzerofishing 11 месяцев назад

      Thank you for watching and commenting 👍. That is absolutely what the industry wants you to think to make you buy more gear! In a recent short I made, I discussed this very topic. I will always use the fastest reel I can and never intentionally go with a lower ratio to match a bait choice. If you need it to be slower, then your own discipline to crank slower is more than sufficient. Presentation is only a fraction of what a reels purpose is and to select one for only that purpose is not efficient. You also have to fight the fish, often while they run right at you and you need to take up line fast or risk losing it (I GUARANTEE THERE WILL BE TIMES YOU DO). Or perhaps you see something bust the surface right after you just cast and need to hurry to follow up on it. In my experience, I have never complained about a reel being too fast but almost daily that it's too slow! You wouldn't see a race car crew plan their engine build for the Daytona 500 based on the caution laps... that would be madness! Although they happen all the time, drivers use their own discipline and let off the gas for that.

    • @coreyd.787
      @coreyd.787 11 месяцев назад

      @beardzerofishing In my experience, high resistance baits, like deep diving crankbaits, are very taxing on the wrist when using a high speed reel and less so when using a lower ration.

    • @beardzerofishing
      @beardzerofishing 11 месяцев назад

      I throw high resistance lures like a chatterbait, rapala shad rap deep divers and much more but have never noticed a difference of wrist strain with high gear ratio reels. That is more along the lines of physical limitations of the angler and is definitely something to be taken into consideration. At the end of the day, we all want to use what is comfortable! My video is more so geared towards just the fishing aspects and not towards personal preference for comfort.

    • @coreyd.787
      @coreyd.787 11 месяцев назад

      🤣😂👍 Thanks bro! I figured I would share that since braid is a bit pricey... I know the one I use is $20+ for 500 yards. This doubles the life I get out of it and cuts cost in half... leaving more cash for wild things, like a big glide bait lol.
