Come to think of it, yeah, I did feel kind of spooked when I played this game. At certain moments. Especially the ruins and the eerie music and sound effects of moving bots.

Just realized the ending is bittersweet since after witnessing so many twisted relationships it's hard to believe Linda and Ken can stay healthy together (specially since she seems to think beating up Ken isn't a bad thing). The title card with their handprints implies that they still suffer but are now suffering together, which may be mean either union... or a meaningless struggle in which their presence only inflicts pain to each other...

I spent so much time grinding at the Island Closest to Hell! I was an obsessive min-maxer even as a kid, so I'd avoid as many fights as possible during most of the game, then go to the island as soon as possible with Str Bonus, Hp Bonus, etc., and junction either Death or Pain to St-Atk. Of course you don't get enough Bonus junctions to run a full party, so I'd have to kill 2 of my other characters and level each one one at a time...

No one is better at showing the absurdity and cruelty of abrahmanic beliefs than the japanese.

This game is the way that it is, you can say it’s creepy or whatever. But the fact of the matter is, that this is one of the greatest games a lot of us played growing up, you can try and see it in any weird way you want. But you can’t destroy that fact.

Legend of legaia, final fantasy VII and metal gear solid are the games of my childhood. I've played this game multiple times over the years with emulators. Wish we could get a remaster or a 3rd game. Unfortunately I feel they dropped the ball too much with the second one. It's a shame

If you kick the can into the Jetlag Bakery you'll get 1000 zenny. 😂 But beware if you do this too many times you will slowly grow evil. As a result your blue armor will grow darker.

You can change the controls in options. I prefer to use the alternative controls with an analog stick controller.

I know this is late but I gotta say this. The voice acting is so, so bad. I don't knoe if its judt me but I actually can't stand all the anime grunting. Not only that but some characters sound way too goofy, and others way, WAY too boring. I dunno... Reading cheesy jrpg dialogue and hearing some basic anime VA read it are teo very difficult things to me. "You owe me a pizza."

Here I thought Earthbound is the craziest JRPG games ever made by Japan, but when I see Linda³. This one takes the cake to be the craziest JRPG games ever made in Japan.

It's really not evil. You guys are used to being spoon fed walkthroughs and cheats and instant Internet access to look up any game shit you want on a dime. This game was the last game to come out for PS1. Back when it was mostly dial up internet. This sword was really Solely for the bragging rights of saying you got it and being able to 100% the game. This is for people who poured months, if not years into playing this game and likely being able to recite lines verbatim. Only the most hardcore of players/fans can say they were able to get Excalibur2 before the remake came out with the fast forward/skip cutscenes options.

When you think about it though, you are basically a teenager going underground, into dangerous, unexplored caves. It SHOULD BE Creepy... Favorite MegaMan Series by a long mile. I wish we got the third game...

I can definitely understand the ruins being scary, almost survival horror-esque. It is meant to evoke a specific feeling: “You do not belong here. This is our realm, not yours. *You* are the intruder here. Leave… *or else.”*

Excalibur 2 will always make FF9 one of the worst ones for me. I'm a firm believer that we should always judge a game by how fun it is to complete it, and the oerfect save + excalibur 2 run of FF9 is hellish. Time and time again i hear the argument "Just ignore it and enjoy the rest of the game", but how good is a game really if in order ro enjoy it, you have to intentionally ignore its bad parts?

This video encapsulates exactly why modern games are so bland and boring, and why traditional video games, especially RPG"s, and specifically Final Fantasy used to be interesting and fun. You will not find any of this type of exploration in modern games, especially games like FF14 and FF16. Instead all you get is "follow this glowing thing" to complete the "Main story" and its so unfulfilling, and completely uninteresting.

I got it on my 4th play through. After I learned it existed I got a new copy and speed ran from memory (3rd play) missed by 30 or so mins Got it by 20 or so on 4th play. My brain is weird when it comes to memorizing video games.

I'm playing this again with mods on my steam deck. Beautiful. I first played it in middle school. I was a huge reader. It was perfect for me. Before that i had played nothing but fighting games. It kicked off my love of RPGs

The destruction of Madain Sari is something literally biblical, they dropped the ball with the reveal of Garland and the actual nature of the giant eye, it felt like the God of that world himself decided to destroy the city of summoners, probably the most unnerving shit in any FF until the dumb reveal imho

Such a cool concept for a game, such an awful name. I think Linda 3, then I think, well why would I play Linda 3 before Linda 1 or 2? I wouldn´t have immediatly thought cubed. And tbh it doesnt sound immediatly catching either. But I will for sure play it now, Thanks for the great video.

When I played it the first time I know that I lost that secret sword, it was something that I will always remember as a challenge that I did not complete, but watching this video leaves me less affected by its high difficulty, I would hardly be able to do it, I don't have that patience hahaha.

The kraken club in the current retail version of FFXI, or any of the old Relic, Mythic, or Empyrean etc. weapons when they were most relevant at older points of FFXI would probably be among the hardest weapons to obtain in the entire series. The original relic weapons were estimated to take at minimum 16 months to obtain.

Aside from the jump rope mini-game I did all the sidequests at least once but man did the Chocobo race one piss me off. I remember the first time I did it on the PS2 as a kid and getting 0 seconds. I was so excited and ready to get my crest but it didn't give it to me. I later learned that it doesn't want 0 seconds it actually wants less. I got it later after calming down but boooy I was so pissed I about broke my controller into pieces.

I never bothered getting Excalibur II or completing the jump rope mini-game. Just seems like a time waster to me and I have better things to do. If I'm going to play a game then I'm going to take my time and enjoy myself.
