I have no problem with the graphics not being top notch as long as it is a carbon copy of the original. Same for voice acting etc. Would you add voices to some mute movie of the 20s? I do care for the gameplay the original offered and I think thats the first thing when it comes to a videogame. On the other hand, I agree on the poor quality of the animations themselves 4:00 , theyre just Bad. Prefer not to get my hopes too high, got the bad feeling this is how the final product is going to look for good and for bad.

I hate that they just stand there and take it in the remake. In the original front mission 3, the pilots of the wanzers try to jump to the side or shoot first in battle animation when attacked. I liked those details, and to see them make them static and soulesss just hurts my soul.

WTF the 1999 version is way way cooler animation than this dog shit remake just improve the graphics and bring back the old animation not this T pose bullshit dog shit animation hahahahaha

fm1/2 remakes looked decent this looks rough like no effort was made to improve things like they did w the first two but then again this game is of its time idk if id want it to be too changed up from its og jankness in terms of looks and what changes we got feel off its hard to me to modernize such an iconic but oddball title like this one not a fan of this this wannabe front mission evolved ttbrpg ill get it on sale to add to my collection and replay it again since i do love this franchise but holy fuck i cannot condone the combat animations its like they used the same engine and system from the 1/2 remake where that was ok here its a downgrade from hell

i have a bit of a critique for your "this remake looks date" point it's being made for the switch... this video is switch version. also.. everything else is a port from the switch version.. just like the remakes of 1 and 2 were.. and if you look on steam both of those have outstandingly positive ratings this is in like with what they have been doing with these remakes. and that's fine

Oh my god, this "remake" looks horrible. It feels like it was made by someone, who've never played the original. It feels souless compared to the original, even mobile games nowadays looks more appealing than this.

Dang it that is very disappointing. I didn’t even know I liked strategy rpg games until I played Front Mission III late in college. Like you were saying, for me a lot of the fun was the over-the-top animations, especially when you got some kind of modifier like ROF up or whatever. I mean every fight was just awesome. I wish I’d kept it. This just makes me sad.

2:05 Hmm... the original portraits where scans of the artwork you could see in the Game Guide back then. This looks... odd. They rather should have provided new high resolution scans of that artwork instead of this here.

you look at that Star Ocean 2 remake or the FF7 and Crisis Core remakes and you gotta believe this is just a cash grab trying to get some cash from old fans with as little effort as possible they could of built a true remake from the ground up with actual modern graphics and top notch voice acting but instead we get this Wii U looking nonesense, mabey it will be better once they have more time to cook but i doubt it.

Nitpicky. 3d realization of the portraits would be gross, that's a stupid take. The portraits look fine. On one hand you want them to modernize portraits, but get upset when they do so for the wander. New animations need work, but the old animations were so god awful slow. This remake is going on a switch, not the latest gen of systems. Don't want voice actors because they'll get shitty ones, remakes never get good voice acting and it ends up cringe. My biggest gripe with what I've seen is the combat animations. That's the only thing I can agree with you on.

"Evolved" was the first warning sign and "Left Alive" was the hard truth of what was to come. Square-Enix doesn't know what to do anymore and doesn't care anymore for the Front Mission franchise. Why else did they allow the remakes of 1, 2 and 3 to turn into sub-par products full of so much wasted potential?

They are trying to keep it simple so nintengo nobody cares anymore can have some revenue. Hardware limitations on those consoles and handhelds are absolutely destroying the potential of the remake. Square Enix isnt any better, it will plagiarize anything as long as they get pocket change from people. This is the same company that ruined how many final fantasies now? Nowadays the best remakes come from fans rather than triple A losers, ironic isnt it? it takes a gamer to know to know what a gamer wants, a corporate fat turd is only in it for the quick buck, pathetic.

Btu gaming boomer snark aside, I'm honestly shocked how half assed Front Mission 3's remake is compared to 1 and 2, and yeah... 3 was my favorite in the series. Graphics aren't really that big a deal for me but... yeah.... the lack of oomph in combat, which is like half the game, is more than a little disappointing. Now that I know this. I'm honestly super iffy about it and just might stick to the PS1/eboot that I already own...

Remind the Front Mission 1 Remake on Nintendo Switch. Enemies shot each other in this game? WHo make this Remake's AI can't be tolerant. I can't accept it even I am old fan this franchise. It was my childhood game and they destroyed it.

FM3 is my no 1 game on PSX. Beating Legend of Mana and Harvest Moon: Back to Nature. For a long time I wanted to see this game with modern graphics. When I clicked the video seeing the title and that FM3 will have a remake I was happy and confused because of "disappointing" in the title. Now I am also disappointed. Cant believe they are not actually "REMAKING IT". Wanzers should still have the same "shapes" (for the lack of better term). I'm 100% agree with you. Missed opportunity. No voice acting, terrible gun play it feels like some "pee-shooter"... I am so disappointed and it is not even out yet... I will just stick to the original... I even shipped FM4 from US when it came out because it was released only in NTSC. Same thing with FM5 but from Japan...

Holy shit they took away the spirit of the original game. I hope that some really avid fans rip open the remake data and make a massive overhaul mods. I'd help if there is a group that will. I don't have technical expertise but I'd help in other things like inputting data onto a sheet or whatever.

So, when the trailer first started, I was like "oh a game set in feudal Japan how original" then I saw the red souls and was like "👀👀👀 NAHHHHH no way..." stayed in denial until he started gathering them, and then BOOM that glorious capcom logo. Started screaming and jumped up outta my seat. Samanosuke is back baby! (Or at least, someone who looks a lot like him).
