Chinese Indonesian simping in Indonesian society
In this video, we dive deep into the complex issue of the fetishization of Chinese Indonesians and the broader implications it has for Indonesian society. Since the Japanese and Korean Wave hit, Indonesians has always been obsessed with Chinese Indonesians. This phenomenon goes beyond superficial admiration, often carrying stereotypes that have harmful effects on both the Chinese Indonesian community and the nation as a whole. We explore how the fetishization reflects deep-seated racial prejudices, economic divides, and historical tensions.
From the colonial era to modern times, Chinese Indonesians have faced discrimination, scapegoating, and violence, all while being stereotyped as a "mod...

ASU Podcast: China vs United States For Indonesia
CIA are likely to be involved on this matter, could Prabowo be the next Soeharto ?
Thank you for such relatable level of presentation that speaks to my mind how lonely i feel seeing this nation surrounded by unserious ignorant groups of people that still cling to dumb sociocultural discriminalized beliefs and having colonized mentality (my family included) that projects itself to differences of skin color and other attributes. I find these obsessions repulsive, even though im still affectedly intrentched myself by these media beauty standards because of bombardment of exposure. All i can do is enjoy my limtied time here myself, and laugh at the absurdity of it all Albert Camus style! I hope you guys find your reason of happiness instead of clinging unto old lies and forceful views of things, and i guess that's why im a philosophy enthusiast.
A PSI shill making a 20 minute video talking about "muh poor marginalized chindos" how suprising.... it's almost like you people are funded by a certain group of bourgeois individuals who "just so happen" to be chinese hmm.... the PSI is after all the party of christcucks and the chinese... (btw i'm half chinese myself so don't pull out the race card). I swear to god, enough with this center-left cuckoldry, we need a retvrn to class politics and actual leftism as oppose to this nonsensical identitarian race politics. A proletarian/peasent movement is desperately needed as of now... We need a second coming of the PKI-marhaenist....
I think this video succeeds in highlighting one of the existing problems in Indonesian society, eloquently shedding light on the history of one groups existence as Indonesians. But despite that, I think this video becomes part of the marginalization problem of said ethnic minority. One of the most easily perceived problem here lies at how this videos use of the term Chindo and Indonesians as Indonesians. This very subtly gives the implication that Chinese Indonesians are not/ are less Indonesians. If this video aims to highlight the difference i think addressing between "Indonesians" and "Chindo" as two different things contradicts the initial goal of this video. Anyway great video, love your work (dan please cmiiw).
*i want to add that i really really enjoy and find humor in the editing style
To add a few things, the issue that im highlighting is the problem that is highlighted in Brubaker's short read called "Ethnicity Without Groups" (2004). In short, this book talk about people's tendency to form group, but by doing this the issue becomes more salient.
As a chindo imma say the stereotype that we are rich can't be further from the fruth 90% of the time, yea some of us are stinky rich but for the 90% we're just middle class or even closer to poverty
Unpopular opinion, I know a solution! Release the Indonesian version of FHD blue pills ☝🥸 Cintailah produk-produk Indonesia.
I think this simps phenomena major factor is not just east asia culture influence. is already there before culture influence from korea or japan and will still exist after other culture influence like western or india. why? simple is not about culture or beauty standard, that's just minor factors. the truth is about hierarchy, that is the real major reason. just use some logic, society always need for hierarchy when simps (worship) event happen is when the value of race is higher. or when the "chinese race" or nation is strong. when "chinese race" are weak or worh nothing, killing or genocide event came. is about china as country power influence.
Lmao this is so true, but in general I think a lot of southeast asian men have personal preferences towards east asian women and vice versa if you switch the genders 😂😂😂
Could you please talk about PRC centralized government vs Indonesia Democracy? Idk man.. it seems like prc governemt did a freakin good job to their people
Bro this is too good, but you should make a Bahasa Indonesia dub version of this vid since most of the Indo simps can’t understand English well.

I would wholly disagree, exoticness does in no way necessarily mean dehumanisation. Put it like this, Indian curry will never be home, but now that you've tasted it, fuck is it addictive. Okay, fair enough on the ethnic integration point- but to be fair, I don't think Indonesia was meant for Soekarno's vision, really, we're more meant for a more cynical take on America. Besides, I think a fetish is moreso a starting point, (a lowkey minor fetish mind you), another way to think about it would be getting a guy as a business partner because he is filthy rich, but then getting to know the guy more and well seeing other facets of him. That, as a matter of fact, is often how relationships(as in any connections) form.
Yeah once you’ve had a small taste you can’t stop
@@BasedInShow I don't know what to make of this but okay.
*No, our beauty standards are NOT influenced by colonisation, Europeans having straight hair uniformly certain isn't a thing and wasn't a thing, while fair skin as a beauty standard did not hold(in fact the Indos, or the Dutch Indonesians were formed because of preferences for Indonesian toned women). Arguably, the fair skin and straight hair part are moreso east asian and specifically socioeconomic developments.
cater is pronounced cayter btw.
Saying the (not so) quiet part out loud. Definitely feel like it's a mix of the already existing beauty standards by the ethnicity itself as well as the orientalism/colorism inherited from our white colonialists who've place whiteness (associated with wealth, beauty, etc.) as an inherently desireable trait independent of Chinese influence. Interestingly for the case of White people who come here, surprisingly, albeit this is anecdotal on my part, they don't try to go after the typical pale-skinned East/South-East Asian and prefer someone who's more on the tan side.
The biggest problem is the 'posh asian' fetish is that it is not even relevant to the old Peranakan Chinese culture. Although there is a movement of post orde baru's re-sinicination, it is completely different altogether from the Chinese culture which has been around and influenced local culture for generation. This 'poshing up' or 'reorientalising' of Chineseness is also propagated by us Chinese. My pet hate word of 'cuan' (which did not even exist in Medhurst's early 1800s Hokkien dictionary compiled in Melaka, Penang and Batavia) created the fantasy that local Chinese culture is all about everything red coloured, cuan, hoki etc. the Chinese communities also internalised our racism by degrading pro-integration/ anti-assimilation Peranakan communities and subcultures and stimgatisation of heritage mother tongues, including melayu Babah and hokkien Babah. What makes Chindos even more objectified now is that many are seen as desinicised - desireable only when they are Chinese outside but not within. Let us also not forget that it was also pro assimilation Chinese such as Sindhunata who were behind the the cultural ban during new order. There is a lot of factors that are to be discussed in this matter, especially regarding to historical events rarely brought up, but I suppose, the point is that this fetishisation is hugely propagated by some of within the Chinese communities as well. Although the old substrate of Chinese culture is so inseparable from Nusantara's history, Chineseness can only truly be accepted skin deep.
what a deep dive... who would've thought 👏👏
Oh hell nah, Pribumi Master Race movement is rising, I can just feel it .
This is just meta bro.. 5 year later different, you know Sundanes alway on top.
Guess what, i got sunise instead 🎉 two in one thanks god😂

Nah, i actually like someone with Vietnamesse with Javanesse genetic because they looks like my mom 😂
as a indonesian who doesn't know what happens most of the time in indonesia, this is CRAZY to learn about for the first time.
The thing about "the Chindo genes" is, sometimes you'll find some Indonesian person/people having "Chindo body features" eventhough they're Javanese, Sundanese, or any other native Indo race you can think of. This happened because the "Chinese migration" came in several waves. The ones we called "Chindos" were probably from the more recent migration, of which they still retained their own Chinese culture. The earliest ones were probably assimilated to each local community they found themselves into 🤷♂️

Bro I love your channel It's sooo unique than any other Indonesian youtuber
i really think the simping towards chindo girls, are actually kink related, and maybe cuz they might got those 98 perpetrator bloodz runnin in their veins 😂
Dark skin magrib XD

@@kingki1953 sama bang wkakak
In my opinion, the reason simping occurs is because of Japanese culture (idols and cosplay) which has entered the millennial and gen z circles.
milennials are fucking 40 by now, how hard can they be simping unless they're the 1% losers?
indo got mommy issues with its colonizers
I was quite amused by this video quality and explanation (also the meme, it's a nice bit of touch), but as a male chindo myself, who raised and befriend with mostly other chindo (I do also befriend with the native btw) I wouldn't lie that I'll also put chindo girl higher on the list and I don't know why that I do keep thinking to just chosing chindo girl over the other (maybe I just gotta keep the bloodline continued bro 😉).
and I don't actually expecting someone going to use "wangy2" in this kind of essay video (even though it's about simping) 🤣
Agreed, as a fellow Chindo, Chindo girl usually objectively hotter. Keyword USUALLY.
Trying to find your s.o with similar values, culture and race to preserve your bloodline is a normal thing all over the world. I just hate the fact that Indonesia do not have their own native beauty standards and just blindly follow east asia's beauty standard that creates inferiority complex among the native Indonesians and causing more severe cross-racial envy. As a male chindo myself, I think chindo girl simping creates narcissistic and entitlement traits among those who have east asian beauty standards that makes me think twice before actually trying to date them.
Chindo nowadays : 😻🤑💌❤🥵🥰😍🤩 Chindo in 98 : 🤯😵💫😨😭😱🔥🚒
90's Chindo Witch-Hunt 💀☠️
Wkwkwk
As a Chindo, I feel this simping is because Chindos are usually rich. They wouldnt give us so much admiration if we are poor. We have the same admiration to white people because they come from a rich country.
It could be, but I think the strongest reason is because of the Japan culture (idol) that has entered, especially for the millennial and gen z..
no lmao, they love white skins. not just chindo. even natives who happen to be white. Rich or not, you white? They went apeshit
Agree with the comment above. Back then we are exposed to more Western (mainly American and British) media, thus why it also played a part on why we idolizes white European/Western look. Now the kiblat for entertainment has noticably shifted with K-Pop, Anime, Chinese games, etc. I also agree that wealth do play a part but it's mainly due to our molded perception in media, to think 'this' certain type of appearance is attractive
even they fetishize singkawang chinese (or kalbar chinese in general) too who mostly come middle to lower class. imo its got to do more with colorism than the wealth
@@anotherhetalian8499 I don't entirely agree it's cultural, since regardless of culture, human males love NEOTENY. And which cultures (biological correlate) has the most neotenous looks that make you look 30 at 50? East Asians because they don't expose themselves to the sun and naturally have a shitton of collagen reserves. As for w'hites, well the idealised whites aren't the tanned ones who look battered at 30, that much we can say.
