Rethinking How We Interpret Scripture with Rachel Howell
In this episode, we talk with Rachel Howell about Biblical interpretation. A scholar and missionary herself, Rachel has taken a deep dive into Alexander Campbell's influence on Churches of Christ in the way we view and interpret Scripture, especially relative to the Holy Spirit's role in the process. She will critique some areas of imbalance and suggest what it might look like to build a healthier hermeneutic as we move forward.

Great conversation, y'all!
Enjoyed this Mark and the most important thing I got from it is his comments about new readers in philosophy needing to be careful not to start out by diving into the deep end. I've almost finished reading James K.A. Smith's Cultural Liturgies 3-volume set and I have to say I've had a lot of difficulty gleaning helpful information from it simply because I don't have any foundation in philosophical discussions and vocabulary. It's really hard for me to grasp a lot of what he's trying to say - I'm definitely in over my head! I bought a copy of Augustine's Confessions a while back. Think I'll try that next.
I always loved the quote allegedly attributed to Queen Elizabeth.....although I would be amazed if she did actually say this.... "grief is the price we pay for love".... seems like it fits in this topic... very interesting

This is was so good. I love the wisdom of this approach. I would think that small groups would be a great place to incubate people to exercise their gifts. I am also impressed with my experience in proposing the CarePortal ministry. When I went to the elders I really hoped they would assign it to someone else but they said great... do it so I had no choice but to do what God wanted me to do all along. So as I finally got off of my procrastination you and the Elders helped me so much and it has been such an amazing blessing. That says something about our Eldership.
Luke’s youth ministry philosophy should be described as a “reasoned eclecticism,” other than the obvious description “Youth in Family ministry.”
I love the idea of preparing for conversations and how we often come to online conversations without preparation. Also, nice collection of Keener commentaries, Matt!
