Wow only 7 weeks to go? The time has flown! I did love washing all the baby clothes before our boy arrived. Seeing the tiny clothes on the line was always lovely 😊❤

Chloe, sending huge hugs. My advice would be to reach out to families who have gone through it. My work colleague had a little boy with a cleft lip and pallet and he is now nearly 5, he’s awesome. He had surgery as a baby and occasionally uses a hearing aid, she was really impressed with the speech and language availability if he should ever need it (he is actually an advanced talker). She also found the lack of breastfeeding hard - she had fed her first like you. But she formula fed in the end with specialist bottles. It is ok to grieve what you thought was going to happen.

Chloé, I am so sorry for everything that you are going through. I can’t imagine a doctor saying the things that you got said to you. Thank goodness you got the call from the midwife and the good care afterwards. You are right that you need time to grieve for the experience you aren’t getting and it is normal to have all the worries that you have for your baby. Try to keep your focus on the “now” as much as you can. Easier said than done, I know. The worries don’t stop even when your “children” are closer to 30 than 20! I also understand your wanting to keep your children’s privacy as much as possible. I think you have been very generous in sharing your life, both joys and sorrows, with us all.
