How to play Magic the Gathering FOR FREE | ANY PAPER FORMAT | NO PROXIES
Magic the Gathering is an extremely expensive luxury hobby, which is the single biggest problem for the game as a whole. In this video I teach you how you can play ANY PAPER FORMAT completely for free. The method I teach in the video is entirely digital, so no proxies. All you need is a computer with internet access, although I recommend using a dual monitor setup, as you're gonna have multiple browser windows open at the same time.
I hope you find the video useful, and that it helps you save a little bit of money!

Naya Energy is AMAZING against SCAM! - Timeless
Просмотров 9844 месяца назад
MH3 has been out for about a week, and it's definitely had quite an impact on Timeless. I've personally encountered a lot of interesting brews, but mostly just a whole lot of scam in different versions. And I think I speak for most people, when I say that scam is a really frustrating archetype to play against, so in this video I bring you a Naya Energy build, that I've had a lot of succes with,...

NEW FORMAT ANNOUNCED! We're finally getting to play all the powerful cards on MTG Arena in TIMELESS

Wotc just announced a new MTG Arena format called "TIMELESS", and it's basically gonna be the Arena version of vintage. It's gonna be a 60 card nonrotating constructed format, with EVERY card on the Arena client being legal, however the format will also be the first on the client to have a restricted list. A Tasigur deck with literally zero interaction? (No, Living Death is not interaction) That's awful. The fastest deck to a wincon just wins in an environment like this. It's a deck that plays solitaire and hopes other decks just play solitaire slower. You dont have to make a control deck (though Tasigur is one of the stronger available control decks with his recursion ability and the ability to play politics), but *literally zero interaction* is just outright bad deckbuilding.

    You do you man, but I don't understand the logic in your sentence "Magic the Gathering is an extremely expensive luxury hobby, which is the single biggest problem for the game as a whole." How is it the single biggest problem? More than a thousand people work at wotc, people need to make these cards, the artists need to be paid. Sure, it's pretty expensive, but you do understand that many people needed to actually have spend money for the cards to exist in the first place? Again, it's a fun game, and play it for free all you like. But if they made new cards for free that would ACTUALLY be their biggest problem 😂

      It's the single biggest problem that players experience because it is. It's important to consider the consequences of prescribing any one of many potential solutions to a problem as you've done, indeed most attempts to reduce or remove the price for Magic the Gathering would result in absurdities that players would find less tolerable than having to pay money to play the game. However, until we try one of these solutions, the problems they would cause are only hypothetical and not actual, therefore the original problem remains. Whether or not you can solve that problem today without making things worse doesn't change that it is a problem to be solved.

      The argument about "WotC needs to pay all the staff involved" is moot because the money you spend on buying singles to build your decks does not go to WotC, it goes to the person selling you the singles. When you pay $40 for a popular good card that hasn't been reprinted in years, the company makes NO profit from this, and THAT'S the kind of cost that people refer to when they say Magic is expensive

    Keep in mind most Jodah builds with 5+ mana legendaries will be very top heavy and slow, especially if you aren't running all 10 shocks and fetches for untap land drops. The legend Cascade effect also becomes awkward if you cast a 5-7 mana card and hit a 1 or 2 mana legendary. Personally, I'd say the best ones to build go with low cost (1-4 mana), ward heavy, sacrifice for indestructible/hexproof, and then use Jodah as the center value piece once a board is already established. 1-4 drop Cards like Boromir, Hajar, Kira, Jirina, Callaphe, Ratadrabik, General's Enforcer, K-9, Flowering of the White Tree, 4 drop Hexproof Angels, and Goldforged Thopteryx amongst many others makes it extremely difficult to target with single removal and offers a clutch against most board wipes. Cards like Kyrdle of Baldur's Gate can then be used once you have a solid board to make Jodah unblockable while the rest of the field stays untapped to defend. It's a fun deck to build that offers creativity in building and teching against different playstyles.

    My build is very heavy on the +1/+1 counters theme. I also utilize most of the 2 for 1 legendary cards like Minsc, Drizzt, Tolsimir, etc. My legendary spell count is 44 and 32 of them are creatures. All legendary. Not a single nonlegendary creature. Ramp is very tied to legends, too. 0 Basics gang, as well. Decent interaction, protection and removal, yada yada. For your variants - as we have discussed on the offical Jodah discord, tribal builds are not very good. They work, just not strong. Superfriends Jodah is strong and annoying, but you really need a way to animate your walkers as a final punch to the face. Top deck manipulation is nice, but totally not needed to waste cards slots for. Going heavy into the casting from exile is fun, but not that good. You honetly wanna cast legends from hand as much as possible. We have discussed the Kellan combo. Very rarely, it can dump your entire hand + extra, but it just isn't as consistent. I personally do not run Kellan. His legendary enchantment on the other hand is an extreme banger tho :3 I consider myself to be very well versed in all manner of Jodah builds :D

      @GeneralCanada 4 месяца назад

      @ceaselessmtg my logic is that the decks you're going to face against are going to be drastically higher power level in timeless vs historic and I don't think these deck are utilizing timeless specific cards well. I agree with you bauble may be a pretty significant downgrade, but the replacement options for what you'd play against in historic seem pretty appealing (spring leaf drum would probably be my choice). I do think affinity might play really well in timeless but I still am skeptical about soul sisters (love these lists though).

    • @ceaselessmtg
      @ceaselessmtg 4 месяца назад

      @@GeneralCanada I see your point. You gotta factor in the completely new MH3 cards like Sorin, Ocelot and Guide of Souls, of which we have about 0 data about, in terms of how they would perform in Timeless. And even though the deck is more or less fully Historic legal, you also can't necessarily draw conclusions about it's viability in Timeless, as those formats are vastly different. So in this case specifically, Sorin's -1 seems better as a way to finish the game in a fetchland format, full of Reanimate and Death's Shadow.

    I'm excited for new affinity, but I don't know how it'll match up to the more powerful decks like scam or Show and Tell

      Agreed. I think if you can manage to build a mana base where you get to play Ugin's Labyrinth, without everything else being too awkward, we could have a deck that's explosive enough to fight through those decks, but that's the challenge. Did you watch my video about Scam in Timeless btw? 🙂

    Solid video! Thoughts on Once Upon a Time/Devourer of Destiny to set up labrynth in affinity? Also i feel like chalice of the void is something labrynth decks want to do but maybe thats more for an eldrazi stompy build.

      @ceaselessmtg 4 месяца назад

      Thanks 🙏 I think that I would for an Eldrazi Stompy shell with Chalice to be a thing, although in reality Labyrinth is not gonna be enough to sustain it. We need at least one of either Eldrazi Temple, Eye of Ugin or just actual Ancient Tomb. And I think it's to say whether or not you could play Devourer of Destiny in affinity. It's more consistently gonna be able to hit Labyrinth on t1, but at the same time you're lowering your artifact count, and I don't think you can do a lot of that before you end with a net negative in terms of overall consistency.

      @@ceaselessmtg more sol lands would be great. Its a shame there are no new eldrazi/devoid spells in black but maybe theres a BGx eldrazi deck that uses dark ritual to power out chalice and TKS. I just want chalice to be a thing in timeless - stompy builds especially 8cast/patchwork stompy are my jam in legacy when i get a chance to play it.

    Timeless is quite different from both Modern and Legacy because in timeless we have good sources of card advantage. We don’t really know how cards like treasure cruise impact the scam meta, but we know what beanstalk does and we can draw parallels. With access to treasure cruise Darcy decks could possibly mimic the amount of card advantage generated by beans, and their interaction is very relevant. What scares me the most is scam decks with Necro in them. Solitude, Necro and Grief, seems very good 😅

      True, it might be the case that access to potent card advantage cards like Treasure Cruise could out a damper on scam decks. Although, like I mentioned, it's the top deck in Legacy at the moment, which is a format with a lot of degenerate stuff going around.

      @@ceaselessmtg I’ve been playing now. I was wrong. Broken Card Advantange doesn’t change much, because you just put it into your scam decks too. I have 38-5 from combined from two lists. One is UB Scam powered by Treasure cruise and flare of denial. The other deck is BW scam powered by Necro

      Like it's not just good for the obvious reason, satoru works with efemorate and no evoke and means your evoke works in satoru but no efemorate situations unlike recruiter (and similar) not doing anything to make your evokes unfair, in this way I find it hard to believe WB will be better then WUB in terms of grinding
