Orange Show Raceway (San Bernardino. ca) still there. Asphalt now. These races were held at the L.A coliseum, the Rose Bowl (Pasadena, ca) Gilmore stadium, (long Beach, ca) no longer. Vic Edelbrock sr. Raced these , and was the first to add low levels of nitro to his fue , and not tell anyone. Winning alot of races.

I will never understand the concept of pathetic token roll bars that don't stick up as high as a driver's head.

@zacharyradford5552 That seems to be the closest to the truth. It almost seems like it was more about avoiding too much damage to the equipment, like a nerf bar.

I was 12 years old at the time of the wreck and was actually at the track sitting at the end of the grandstands into turn 1. The sound of the truck hitting the fence and flipping will be with me forever. I was born and raised and still live 20 mins west of the track so I've seen tons of races and wrecks at Daytona

My greatest memory of Tommy Baldwin was at Islip Speedway. I don't remember the year but he still had the coupe. He got put into the wall bye the 555 and got out of his car jumped on the guys nerf bar and started punching him in the head. I spent most of my childhood at Islip,Freeport, Riverhead and a few Trenton races. But Islips pits were crazy after the race's ended. It's just sad that I couldn't bring my kids to experience it. The smell and the rubber hitting u in the stands and beautiful cars. Vegas,Pintos,Mustangs and Jackie Rhienharts AMX. And Artie Tappens Dodge Astre.

Ryan Newman’s crash was as scary as they get ! A lot thought he was instantly killed. When he walked out of the hospital ,holding his 2 daughter’s hands , i balled my eyes out! Glad Bodine recovered well.

That one made my heart sink also. So bad. Elliot Sadler’s fly and flip at Talledega - might have been 2003 or 2004? Was also terrible looking. He pulled himself halfway out of the car afterward and was holding his head. I thought he was going to die right there. Of course I learned later that rolling is about the best thing you can to do to slow down at 180mph

@@rickkelley4618 For me losing Dale Sr 2/18/2001 was 2 days before my Birthday,I was so upset, I canceled my party plains for that year. But in 1995 Russel Phillips crash, as to be the worst in Nascar history. He was a driver for maybe 5 or 6 years. That being shown on TV , even back then was horrible. I’ll never forget it. His body was torn apart, decapitated . His helmet rolled towards pit road, a crew member picked it up (unknown from who’s crew) and Russells head was still in it. Also a fan, screamed when she seen one of his hands ,stuck in part of the catch fence. The part that pissed ME off, was they took a long time on a red flag ,just to clean up & continue the race ! Yeah there were a few changes made, but a ton more was put in place after Dale Sr’s crash/death ,that are still used today.
