    The real difference is Odyssey uses solid lead plates while most others use lead oxide which is FAR less dense and strong. The Extreme has over 1000 cold cranking amps. Additionally, it's a US made battery, inside and out. If you have something that's critical to start (wife's car, boat motor, generator, etc.) then use Odyssey. Buy once, cry once.USe what the million dollar RV coach manufactures and the military uses and that's the Pulsetech PowerPulse Battery maintenance module. It's cheap and easy to install. There's a reason the military uses them.

    When you connected the tester, your battery had 12.00V, which means it was deeply discharged. Either you don't drive much and rarely, or something in the car consumes too much electricity when the car is parked and not in use. If this is the case, you will quickly damage even a very good battery. Measure the power consumption at standstill and charging voltage. This battery is AGM, and a fully charged 100% AGM battery has a voltage of 12.90 - 12.96V. Whenever you measure the voltage and it is lower than 12.65V, you must quickly fully charge the battery so that it does not sulfur and serves you for many years. I know what I'm writing because I am a specialist in batteries and vehicle installations. Regards.

  • @adamnowak3374
    @adamnowak3374 5 дней назад

    It is not normal to replace 10 batteries in 12 years. You need to check the current consumption from the battery when stationary, whether it is too high, the charging voltage and the condition of the starter. If your batteries only last a year, there is something wrong with your car's installation. You bought a very good battery, but you will also exhaust it prematurely - if you do not repair the fault in your car, you probably have too much current consumption when stationary. Have you measured?

      I've wondered the same. It does not look very maintenance friendly. The only way I can see to clean it is to physically take it apart. And from memory, there were a lot of screws involved, some of which looked to be hidden under a plastic cap/plug. I haven't had to clean mine yet, but I expect it to be quite a chore when I do! Cars today have a lot more energy vampires pulling from them even when car is off. I had a 2001 Toyota ECHO (base as a car can get) that I put it in storage and went off to the Army and was gone 4+ months and when I got back, I shit you not it started right up with the Everstart battery I had put in it maybe a year before that. Try that today with any battery in any car with all the gadgetry BS they've got crammed in them. Will have died months before you ever get to crank it.

    The reason the graph looks bad is the measurement technique - center of wall (or room) and off the floor. Subs perform best with boundary reinforcement. True, measurement in a corner would be a messy curve because of the room, but it would show us the extension the sub is capable of in a room, and that is supremely useful information for a subwoofer. I expect in a room as small as yours, with boundary reinforcement it should be able to hit a solid 30 Hz or lower with no problem.

    • @Now-Review-This
      @Now-Review-This Месяц назад

      No. The graph looks as it does because that is what was measured from the actual speaker cone. Interjecting room modes would be false data and useless to absolutely everyone. I understand you might want to see boundary reinforcement data, but it would be completely meaningless to you as well unless you had my exact room in my exact configuration. The way I measured this sub was done intentionally to eliminate my room. You only see what the sub is actually doing in the measurements, as close to anechoic as possible.

    Great review. had mine over a year and it is in my bag with my meters and jumpers. I'm retired now but always working on something and found in a pinch it can do some pretty delicate work if I cycle the torch off and on a little. ymmv and I know what @jamesward5721 means about it looking down a microscope and the LX- 770 looking like a telephone pole so I wouldn't attempt something that intense but I have used it on some circuit boards that a handheld magnifying glass helps with (but I need a magnifying glass for about anything I look at these days). I would weigh the desire to repair something delicate now vs the location your your controlled heat soldering unit being 100 miles away with the value of the thing being fixed but the LX- 770 is durable and it's simply handy.

    I live in an area where Stink Bugs climb up the sides of bdgs seeking shelter from the upcoming winter and they are extremely aggressive. Can they climb in back of unit and enter one’s apt???? I’d think so. I can see them getting caught up in fine mesh netting installed on back of unit, and that will be a mess to constantly clean up yuck. Maybe if unit is on constant exhaust mode, they can come in through that. The only way to tell is to leave it on constant exhaust mode to see if that works.

    • @Now-Review-This
      @Now-Review-This 2 месяца назад

      If powered on it would be very unlikely for any bug to get in, even more so in exhaust mode. They might get chopped up, but I doubt they could just walk in. Bugs would only be a possible concern if you don't have a screen in your window. Otherwise just make sure your screen is installed or pulled down and problem solved. If you don't have a window screen, then I would suggest rigging one to fit your window or build an installation box for this fan and attach screen material specifically to that. If you make an install box, it's then real easy to add the air filter material I mentioned in the video. amzn.to/3urKuol

    Question: what do I do when it rains? Should I put this thing away? Great vid by the way. I’m in a 400sqf space and have used a cheap standing fan to blow out air for years. Not enough people know it’s often better to have two windows open, one with the fan blowing out hot air and the other window naturally pulls in fresh outside air. Let it breath as you’d put it.

    Will the Rode or any microphone operate in the 20k-60khz region. I grabbed my old sound level meter yesterday and it has apparently died from the acid of the batteries I left in it a few years ago. I am having a hard time locating any real information on the frequency response of the commercially available wireless mics.

    • @Now-Review-This
      @Now-Review-This 2 месяца назад

      20k to 60k? No human can hear that high, we stop at 20khz, and most stop well below that. But there are some very specialized microphones that are sensitive beyond 20khz, they are usually lab based and very expensive. RODE has nothing I'm aware of that is capable in the range you describe. I literally show the full frequency response of these Rode GO II mics in the video.

    • @grt49er
      @grt49er 2 месяца назад

      @@Now-Review-This Thanks for the response. I was hoping maybe these would fit due to the ease and portability. The application is monitoring dogs so ideally normal to 45khz range would be good. I don't need to hear it. I just want to be able to graph it if It is there.

    • @Now-Review-This
      @Now-Review-This 2 месяца назад

      @@grt49er: I see. These mics won't work in that range by specification, but I have no way of testing beyond 20khz to see just how far they can go. You might want to try a sound analysis microphone and then record in 32 bit so you can boost the levels without clipping or distorting. But it still probably wont be sensitive enough to go that high. Another option would be a very large diaphragm mic such as the RODE NT1. The larger the diaphragm, the more sensitive, in theory. amzn.to/3YaG2HF Otherwise I think you'll need a very expensive scientific/lab grade mic to do this job. Good luck.

      I have no idea what if anything changed when Odyssey was acquired, this battery is my first experience with the brand. I'm sure you can't wait another 7 years for me to finish this review, but so far so good 😁.

    I have this Dayton Audio SUB-1200, and it doesn't sound that great for one reason and I know how to fix it. The reason it doesn't sound good is because its piggybacking off the signal going to my studio monitors coming from my TV. It's not hooked up to an amp and I am CERTAIN that it would sound MUCH better hooked up to a proper amp. In the future I'm planning to get a pair of Dayton Audio B652 bookshelf speakers and a Fosi Audio BT30D and move my studio monitors to my computer. Until then, I'll keep on using the setup I have now, and while the sub does fill in the bass that's not there in my monitors, its just not very even on any low notes.

      The better the input signal, the better the output from this built in amp. That is until the amp just runs out of power of coarse. Then it just goes snap crackle pop regardless of input signal. This built in amp is just way under powered. I'm confident the speaker and cabinet could sound great with EQ, but not without replacing the amp. There are so many great options available now for amplification, just make sure you pick one with enough power, 500 real watts minimum so that you have some real headroom.

      @@Finite-Tuning Once I get an amp and the B652 speakers it's already going to sound far better than before, so I would wait to upgrade the plate amp on the back. I don't often play music that loud but I'm sure the plate amp will be just fine for now.

    They DO SMELL AWFUL and they DON'T move a lot of air at all. I have a floor stand Vornado for YEARS that works GREAT, and moves a LOT of air. These things absolutely do NOT. NOT worth the 100 bucks I paid for it, not even worth half that. Been running the thing in my dining room and the air flow is SO POOR I have to put up a cardboard partition to redirect the airflow where I need it. As long as it's exhausting the air, the smell is bearable, but EVERY TIME you change it to pull air in from outside, that AWFUL plastic stench kicks you right up in the nose.

    • @Now-Review-This
      @Now-Review-This 3 месяца назад

      I thoroughly explained in the video "why" this may seem like it does not move enough air. If you follow the guidance I provided these work GREAT. Nothing much I can tell ya about the smell except give it a little time, it goes away. Yes the price SUCKS, that's why I started with that point in my review. But that 5 year warranty won't be found in any copycat, for less cost.

      It's lack of any quality control, there just ain't none, no more! I live 10 miles from Deka, I have several friends that work there, I heard this from first parties who literally work the line.... About 3 years ago I was told Deka was shipping out entire batches of batteries that were only half full of acid. It's all about quantity, not quality, and that includes employees!

      What did you not understand about the video? I literally spelled out to everyone why the "think" these don't move much air. Did you not let your home breathe? It's the only way one of these will fail to work. Unless the fan itself has failed.

    I really appreciated knowing about the Merv 13 filtration material. Where would you install it on the Transom, so it's effective and not an eyesore? Thanks!

      Eyes in the head of the beholder. I cannot see what any of you see, and you can only see what I've shown here in this video. But if I were to filter this fan, I would do it on the intake side. Totally 'depends' on the thickness of your walls/windows, but I would build a SIMPLE EXTENSION box that would attach to the back side (intake) of the fan. I would place the filter in between the body of the fan and the extension box itself. It would have to be easily accessible and serviceable, but every install will be a custom fit to do this job. Hint 1. don't forget the simple power in a rubber band. Hint 2. don't forget that rubber bands out-gass as they age!

    this is why I went with this battery too... I store a car all winter with a disconnect... it just works... I don't have to worry about killing it either... The bonus for me is, it goes in a mid-engine car so it adds some needed weight to the front.

    Those Napa legends died of the same nature for me, in warm normal weather it starts fine, but once it gets to nearing freezing temps it completely fails just acts like a dead battery, I think corporate greed is too much now a days and they cut costs to the point where they figure they can make more money with early dead batteries, those warranties are often a scam

      @@Finite-Tuning Thank you for your response. You don't actually want to put the grease between the terminals and connectors. Put the connectors on the terminals then coat it all with the grease. over time the grease will become an electrical insulator. If you start to notice the battery losing juice again take the connectors off and clean, then reattach.

      @@brettweltz8135: If grease could stop the force of a battery clamp, we'd have much bigger problems to worry about. If grease could stop 12vdc with over 1K amps, the engine would never start. I've already explained the low battery voltage in the video. I "always" use dielectric grease directly on battery terminals, been doing so over 30 years now. It helps to block corrosion, nothing more, and it barely even does that much.

      @@Now-Review-This maybe dielectric grease behaves differently up north. I live in Miami. the grease with my experience became almost like water and seeped into the connectors and caused just enough resistance to interrupt the circuit. after cleaning the connectors and terminals then doing what I mentioned in my previous comment, the problem hasnt come back so far... its been 10 months. could also be the connectors... its a group 75 battey in a 95 corvette.

    Would be interesting if you could get a baseline on your testers, to see how accurate it is. The go to, for years has been the Schumacher BT-100. If your different meters measured the same, I wouldn't have any concerns. Granted, they don't have all the bells and whistles as the electronic versions, but they are cheap, reliable and last forever.

    • @Now-Review-This
      @Now-Review-This 4 месяца назад

      They are accurate, very in fact. I checked both testers against my Fluke 87v back when I first got them. But as demonstrated in the video, they are very sensitive to their connection point. Every wiggle of a cable will result in a different reading. Batteries are very coarse devices though, they don't really care about mili-volts until we start talking about 100's of them 😁.

    i have one of these. i use it to till up soil where i want to plant new grass seed. It can till up maybe 2" at a pass. If you need deeper, make multiple passes. It is NOT like a professional tiller that is gas powered, but for its intended use, it works fine. Like that it is corded, as you only use it once a year, and any battery would be dead the next year when you tried to use it again
