    How about cutting the cable in half? Test one and if it's a good connector then add another one to the other end. Test that and cut close and replace if needed till you have a good smaller cable. Replace the bad connector on the other cable with two good connectors. Will that work?

    A lot of criticism for Mr. Jue for his products being "junk." His company may not be the best at manufacturing, but as an engineer his brilliance is well respected especially among those in the Engineering Department at Mississippi State University where he is a professor.

    Why did you get a .3 feet difference between an open any shorts? That makes a difference because it is like 2 1/2 inch difference in length. I noticed something with mine when I get it if I went on certain frequencies like really low one or 2 MHz and I was using the meter with RG58A/U and I noticed it indicated that an 18 foot piece of Coax showed a distance of 3590 ft. However when I just did it between 120 and 150 MHz it indicated the correct amount of feet.

Many Westerners don't know this. If you want to hear Asians with Southern accents go to New Orleans. There are lots of people of Vietnamese decent there. Many were born there and really have the accent. Thanks

    I enjoy watching Mr. Jue's videos. He is an outstanding MFJ rep. For years I've seen MFJ sales reps at area hamfests with the latest antenna or morse code translator. I'm now familiar with one person to look for at future shows. I bought a used MFJ-269 one week ago and I'm growing frustrated. It appears every antenna I test in the impedance R / X mode indicates an SWR value greater than 2 if when I attempt to determine the antenna's resonant frequency at 50 Ohms Impedance. The antenna is a I'm testing is a COMTRAK D-130 vertical mounted on a tripod / 10 foot mast with 20 feet of RG-8X 50 Ohm (Gray in color). I've read over the manual but could not determine if a setting exists to any to reset the analyzer to factory specs. I'm somewhat hesitant about entering and altering any of the values in the advanced modes of operation Any suggestions fellas?

      @clems6989 6 лет назад

      I have a MFJ-259C and use it a lot. I dont understand what's happening with your unit. You could attach a non inductive 50 ohm resistor to the test connector. It should read 1:1 exactly. There isn't really any firmware to reload or update. Or factory reset option. Seems like I seen a video on here of calibrating the MFJ-259....

    Can you check the Balun for common mode currents with the analyzer?

  • @iiankaye462
    @iiankaye462 8 лет назад

    Unfortunately, he does not demo the MFJ 259 or 269 to show if the readout is series or parallel Xc or XL. The later models do a conversion to parallel or series Xc or XL if needed. The maths for division of imaginative numbers is complicated, and this is done by the MFJ 269, but not the 259B. Knowing your antenna's R and X really helps if youre having to change the length to reduce the XC and XL to near resonance provided you have a series 50 ohm resistor in series during the test.

      I would think so, because without any load, my LDG 1:1 balun shows R=0 and Xs=300at 7.230 MHz. I assume you need a 50 ohm load across the balanced side of the thing.

    Cont: whereas the MFJ antenna analyzer has a much broader freq coverage. I could have worked with the unit but for my needs I would have to chart out the SWR and the impedance on paper so that would be a bit time consuming. Both analyzers have strong points and weak points. I also looked at the Youkits FG-01 but the display is the size of a postage stamp and it cannot interface with a PC plus it takes a special battery. The meter I just ordered takes 2 AA batteries and that I can live with.

  • @flash001USA
    @flash001USA 11 лет назад

    Thanks for that info. I decided to give the RigExpert AA-54 a shot so I changed my order this morning only because I want to take advantage of the LCD screen and the sweep features. I'm working on some home brew antenna designs and this will allow me to view the bandwidth for a given band in a chart format at a glance. It can also interface to a laptop too. The only disadvantage is the AA-54 is only good from 1 Mhz up to 54 Mhz. Cont:

    It's fantastic! It makes testing antennas so much simpler than using the SWR meter on the radio. I also used the capacitor testing feature to test an air variable capacitor. It was nice to be able to verify that the capacitor was working right. This analyzer was well worth every penny I spent on it.

    Its probably been mention before , but it seems that there many issues with the series . There in any order , The 1st one no volume of the speaker , and too high on music & clapping . Then pore lighting with up front display . It would seem to me that good production , would be a value relative to sales , I know that it was a club production , but if I was MFJ , I would try to do some editing to keep my business in a good light [ all puns intended ] . All that said very informative .
