Baby shark swimming inside egg! (NOT AQUARIUM).
During this dusk dive at Chesil Cove, UK we found this Mermaid's Pouch, containing a live baby shark/ray moving around. The round black shape is the embryo and you can see the tail of the shark moving around. This was filmed around 7pm and at approximately 10m depth.
The pouch containing the young shark is a tough leathery material that has attached itself to this plant life. Shining a light behind the pouch creates a silhouette of the baby shark that can be seen from the other side.
There was some surge during the dive, as can be seen by the rocking in the video. This movement was caused by the water conditions, we were very careful not to touch the plant or of course, the Mermaid's Pouch ...

A promotional video I directed, filmed and edited for Diving Matrix, a scuba diving school offering Raid certifications - based in the UK and Malta. This was a really interesting project as it took place in two very different locations. It began whilst I was taking a technical diving course with Diving Matrix in Malta - these are the bright, sunny looking shots! The second half was filmed in a ...

What a fantastic video! I miss Utila! Great shots and track choice!
Thanks mate, really appreciate it! So do I!
I didn’t know iguanas can graze underwater
Only the Marine Iguanas :)

That is incredible and stunning James. UK diving is so underrated!

Lucky, we went diving in Galapagos earlier this year but we didn't have good visibility and didn't see any hammerheads. How many days was your liveaboard? Do you recommend it?
Hey guys. The liveaboard was a week with Aggressor in December. Best diving I've ever done, absolutely incredible, it's a totally different game if you do a liveaboard and get out to Darwin/Wolf. 100% recommend it, where you doing day trips when you went?
Could I share this video with the Diving Community of Steemit.com?
Go ahead!
Nice shots especially in what looks like some tough current.
Thanks! Yeah it was a bit choppy for sure!
Great vid and these shots + color adjustments all turned out incredible. Also really enjoyed the pacing and how well you curated the shots. Doing some research into a trip here and this was perfect. Thanks for sharing.
Chris & Michelle Go Places thank you so much, you’re very welcome! :)
Let me know if you want any more info about Utila, I'm still in touch with a few people there.
James Harris sounds great. Once we get an bit deeper in finalizing everything will definitely hit you up. Thanks again, vid was awesome.
Amazing vdo! May I ask what month this trip was?
Yot Boon thanks! December 2014 :)
@@jamesharris2525 I hope to make it there once in my life. Thanks again for this very exciting show. :)
Awesome video ! I like to discover all the sea world . thank you for sharing .
Thanks!
Is diving there expensive? Great vid by the way?
H.pink hey, thank you! The Liveaboards are quite pricey I’m afraid. Day trips are cheaper but don’t have the same access as these trips.
Nice video! Just went there. What Season was these recordings taken?
Sofie Lie Jespersen thank you! It’s incredible isn’t it? This was December 2014 :)
@@jamesharris2525 Yes it was incredible!! Was there only for 5 days. not nearly enough to see all I wanted. The site at Leon dormido was beautiful
Wow, incredible footage! Mind sharing what month of 2014 was this taken? (If I want to see all the things you saw, what month should I aim to do this trip?) Thanks for sharing!
Yot Boon Hey man thanks. This was all shot in December, I don’t think there is neccesarily a best month, it’s more based around what you want to see and if there are certain months you are more likely to see particular marinelife. It will be awesome whenever you go though rest assured :D Enjoy man!
@@jamesharris2525 thanks for your reply. I hope one day I'll make it there. Thanks again for your awesome vdo! :)

Great content. Keep it up!
Thank you, really appreciate it! The next project is a documentary series which showcases the incredible marine life that is just off the beach, and within eyesight if you put your head under the surface of the water! Stay tuned :) First episode, Dauin, Philippines.

Hola amigos! Gracias y excelente video!! Do you know if you can have internet connection in the islands? I will travel in this agency (up) And they told me there are sometimes, depending on the islands in which we are. I have to check my mail at times, that's why the connection is important. And the other is if you can buy with euros in the city. (My english is not very good). Thanks and nice video!! :)
Hola! On the island we stayed at after the liveaboard we had interent, I'm not sure about the other islands. I doubt it will ever be 100% reliable knowing South America. Not sure about the Euros sorry! Enjoy your trip :)

Galápagos Sea Lions ruclips.net/video/r_wOWziI7EI/видео.html We encountered many curious Sea Lions while in the water and on land in the Galapagos Islands.
Great video. Any idea if there is an ideal time to see Orcas?
Thanks Ryan, I don't believe it's common to see them in Galapagos. I've searched around and whilst I can find some videos and articles mentioning them, nobody seems to know when the best time is. I think you just have to be very lucky! But do let me know if you find out any more, they are right at the top of my bucket list to see/video! I've heard Norway is the place to go.
If you don't mind me asking where did/do you stay?
Of course not, I was staying on the island of Utila in one of Maggie's place apartments :) Are you visiting Utila yourself?
A British Scuba Diver yea we are looking to go in April. Thanks for the reco I'll look into it. Awesome video editing by the way, solid work.
Hello matey, really great video. I'm running an 'Ocean Reality' page on facebook and would love to share this video on the page. With your permission, would you mind if i did? I shall credit you accordingly. Many thanks

Thanks!! 😀
Amazing video, how much did the tdiving and travel from GB to galapagos cost u? How long did u stay?
Thanks Bud! I was already in South America backpacking for a few months so I tagged some diving on to the end of the trip. I did the Aggressor liveaboard which isn't cheap but I was extremely happy with the itinerary and boat etc. Are you thinking of traveling there?
Yes, thinking about going in the summer because thats the only time my friends have possibilitie to go. Sounds like u had a great backpacking. And what a camera u must have brought!!! How much did the aggression cost? it was 6 nights?
Backpacking is awesome, you get a lot of traveling for your money. The Aggressor trip was amazing but it is expensive, take a look at the website as they vary based on itineraries and dates etc. Actually this footage was only with my old GoPro Hero 3 Black - check out my new Utila 4k video! That's with my new rig and you can see the difference!!

Wow Lucky you Mister ! thanx for sharing
Hey, glad you liked it and you're very welcome. Check out my newer Utila vid I shot earlier this year! Shot with 4k :D
This video was badass
Glad you liked it man!! 😊 Thanks!
Superb! was it cold? how many celcius?
Thanks Miranda! :) It was around 16-23 celcius, I dived everything with a 5mm wetsuit and that was fine apart from a couple of the dive sites which experience different currents and are therefore a bit cooler. On these dives I started to feel the chill after a while but they were still definitley bearable!
thanks for your info.. i really have to try to dive there.. hope someday i can! keep on sharing your dive memories.
+Miranda you really do! It's absolutely incredible, the best diving trip I've ever done. All the best :)
Great Video!
Thanks Jonathon! 👌🏼 I'm going back soon and I'm hoping to capture more caverns and other exciting terrain!
So sick! How many days did it take you too find all of this beauties?? I'm going there next week and I would love to see them all! Thanks!
Thanks man! I shot all this on a 7 day Aggressor liveaboard. Who are you diving with? It's the best diving I've ever done you will love it!!
Nice vid! Love your post processing. How did you do it/do you have any links showing how to do it? Thanks!
Thanks amigo! By post processing you mean the editing process right?
+A British Scuba Diver (James Harris) yes sir. thanks!
+puncho22 hmm such a big question. I use Premier Pro. I start by cutting down all my footage into the best moments. I then look trough them all and try to think of a nice order to tell the story. At the same time as this in trying to find music that fits. Once I have the music and an idea of order I start cutting clips to fit the music, this is very important to me. I love making the video sound sharp. In terms of editing I correct the white balance if needed and apply any color/contract corrections, and also use stabilization tools. Once I've done this the hardest part is going back and reviewing the sequence and making things go together right which each other and the music. Sometimes you think it's logical for it to go one way but you change it randomly and it just sits better. Does that make sense? I know it's very generic. Just remember the initial footage and especially lighting for underwater videography is the most important. There is only so much you can enhance or edit! 😀
Hope this doesn't come across as rude since you didn't exactly ask for it, but if you're looking for some constructive feedback I really didn't like the music choice here. Great song, but I didn't find such a fast paced song fitted with any of the footage. Some great shots though, incredible vibrancy in some of the macro work! Can I ask how many dives it took you to catch that whale shark sighting?
Hey Luke, that's an interesting point. It's always tricky trying to chose the tone or feel of a sequence. This video was created as an action montage (kind of like the gopro ads) but with some more serene moments throughout to break it up - ie at 55 seconds. I find you either have to have longer footage and keep it calm, or break up the clips more and have it faster pace, otherwise I find myself getting bored. I take your point though, can you comment with another video that you prefer in terms of music choice? Thanks for the feedback though, positive and constructive :) The whale sharks were snorkeling expeditions in between dives to be honest, you will rarely dive with a whale shark in Utila.
I got my first Certification in Utila, loved it. The coral is so beautiful there!
Yeah I love diving in Utila, so much fun! I'm going soon, hope to make another video with more landscapes and different wildlife :)
Amazing stuff. u got this official red go pro filter to put on? at what depth in meters do u use it ?
Nope, no filters or post-production white balance adjustments (you can see the difference in my newer Utila video). Just pure virgin Go-Pro footage. The depth ranges quite a lot, I'd say the shark/sea lion scenes average around 20m, with the Marine Iguana much more shallow at 8-10m. Thank for the interest and kind comment :D
Thx. I think you need filter at 20 + meters. It gets all too green at least for me. Best divesite u ever been to? :)
+MultiKrillz it depends what camera you're using. If it has custom white balance that works much better than a filter. My Utila video uses a better camera with this functionality. I used to play with filters using my GoPro and if you get a good one they can make quite a difference I agree. Especially if you tweak the results after and custom the white balance post-production. Mm best diving for my had to be on this trip in Galápagos, so many incredible big things to see. How about you?
I see. I gonna get one of those filters. Only been to thailand and malaysia but yea it's sipadan. :)
+MultiKrillz yeah give them a go! Just remember if you get really shallow your footage will start to look really red. Or if you point the camera directly towards the sun sometimes 👌🏼
Amazing! I love your videos, they are so awesome and educational :D
Love this video the sealions are so cute! Just completed PADI open water and this encapsulates why diving is so special
Congratulations!! Where did you do your Open Water cert? I just completed my Instructor certification and still get excited every time I hop into the water. I'm uploading a compilation video of my footage from Utila, Honduras over my two month stay so stay tuned :) New 4k rig, video lights and lots of fun!
Pfff James. what a trip! Amazing footage, amazing underwater sightings!!
Thanks Daniel! 😀 it was an awesome trip, do you dive?
+James Harris yes, thankfully I do. I've been diving for 2 years now and have been blessed to be able to dive in Bali, Florida and Mozambique. Basically I love being in the water, so seeing stuff is bonus! Also I'm a beginner, so there's still tons to learn... In May I hope to go back to Bali, but your footage is out of this world!! Soon I'll add some footage from Mozambique to my channel.
+James Harris I mean to my daniel driessen yt channel... This is the game channel 👍🏽😁 check out the Lion vs buffalo footage 😳
Wow amazing school of mola mola, very lucky! If you wanna see whale shark in galapagos, try october and November at Wolf & Darwing Islnads, its completely worth it! Check out he giant manta diving video at isla de la plata in the coast of Ecuador. Cheers
Thanks man! I was so lucky to find such a big group. Hopefully one day I'll get a chance to go back and see the whale sharks whilst I'm at it! Have you been much yourself?
I have been 3 times to galapagos, but only saw whale shark up north at Wolf and Darwin and I know the best months are october and novemeber with colder water. If you are interested in the giant manta the best month is August and is much cheaper than galapagos.
Hey bro. this is amazing... great place great movie..and music as well...2 thumbs up
