    Glad I found your channel. I have a 444 gas. allways wanted a loader on mine, instead I bought IH 606 with IH 2001 loader. I like my little 444 with its power steering very easy to handle. It has some bad leaks, front crank seal drips and a hyd leak. 3pt lift arms wont stay up so I had to use chains and turn buckels to set height for brush hog.

    Hey I’ve got a 444 diesel and a 424 gas burner. Their both the same other than the engines. I’m curious as to which front end loader you have on yours? It looks like a 2050 but I would think it would be too heavy for a 444. I’m looking to find a good front end loader for mine also. I hope you can give me some insight, Sir

    Nice video. You should have measured the voltage directly on your alternator, some need a bit extra rpm to start the charging, and after that they charge on idle to. Might be cam angle, but to me it seems like the cable from the alternator is a bit on the thin side there. I have also a 444, i bought a tiny alternator whit internal fan, and relocated it to the left side of the engine, thereby using only 1 belt, and have a tensioner on the alternator, so i may use the tensioner on the water pump, and the new one on the alternator. It has 2 wires going to it, so i have a charging lamp to. New cable 6 square mm, and i have a happy life, newer problem whit the charging after that. My glowplug`s broke, and whit the price for new ones, and how delicate they are, cant take any abuse at all, i bought glowplugs for a wv 1.6 liter and took out the original glowplug`s, drilled and tapped them for wv plugs, could not get the cone on the new plug to seal on the old ones, had to use red loctite to ceep them in, this is now 10 years ago. My tractor starts whit out problem in -20 Celsius whit out block heater. IH 444 in my eyes is a nice old easy to maintain tractor, have had problems whit hydraulic twice, but its the filter in the hydraulic tank that gets clogged. You find it under your right foot as you sit in the seat. Drain the hydraulic tank, drain plug back on right side of tractor, loosen the hose clamps on the pipe going to the pump, located 30 cm from the tank against the pump, and pull the pipe going into the tank, its sealed whit a o-ring, then you get the filter out. Its brass mesh, so just clean it and reinsert it, fill the tank full whit hydraulic oil, and enjoy. I run a snowblower on my tractor, don`t have a loader for it but it ceeps my drive way clean thru the winter. Best regards from North East Norway

    A problem I have found with single wire alt's is that they draw a slight current all the time. I used one but had to install a disconnect switch near the alt. It charged 13.8 which is ok,but would drain the batt over time. Takk

      Ya, tks. so like @v.t.d.g3052 mentioned earlier it has to spin at least 1400rpm before it will charge. Might not be the best type of alternator for a tractor as a lot of the time (unless using the pto) you're not usually at that high of an RPM. We'll see how it goes...

    Isn’t there a exciter wire on the alternator or is there a external regulator

    • @CanadianIslandLife
      @CanadianIslandLife 4 месяца назад

      Good question. This is a single wire alternator with built in regulator so I don't think they have (or require) an exciter wire. Other issue was the old one sat for (I don't know how many years) and the bearings didn't sound too good. So I felt it was a candidate for replacement :)

      @@CanadianIslandLife Hi , I own a 1965 B414 and I converted the non working generator to an 19:02 alternator that I converted to one wire . The internal regulator has the exciter circuit built in. I’ve been running it since 1992 with no issues. The only thing is that when running you have to accelerate the tractor initially to get the alternator to start charging at idle after that it will start producing charging current. Best upgrade I have done to the old girl!

    Sometimes that shaft needs a double seal if one wont hold a pressure test. This most likely the reason you had a leak. This comes from dry starting in gear. Always start in neutral and only engage the drive when water is peeing. People who start then put it in gear are turning that shaft on dry seals and they wear much faster.
