Remember when folks were dying overseas and ya'll said that they should just move somewhere else?
We wanna be on top with Mother nature......mother nature says...No....Im on top...........
😭😭😭
God bless you
2:45…Who else wanted to run across that bridge and back real quick?
I was sure you were going to sprint across the bridge to try to save your stuff!
750 should cover it Gubment loves you NOT
That sucks but…..go fund you? There are still people trapped up in the mountains and cutoff from civilization. C’mon man.
I am so very sorry. You put so much time, energy, and talent into all the work that you did. 😢
SD..... Hey heart goes out to all. You stayed so calm after losing it all God Bless everyone
Thank God Kamala gave you $750.
@12:01 PM, at least the rain seems to have stopped! I’m so sorry you lost your house and everything with it! But you are strong and you were smart and got to higher ground! Prayers for your recovery. Hugs from EastTN(over the hill from you). I found your bridge and house on Google. Lovely place! Might want to take a still shot of it, for old times’ sake. Prayers for you and your community.
Was just down the road from you this week helping out at a couple of your neighbors with Samaritan’s Purse….praying over you, your family and the rest of the community!
JP, if I am reading my TV right, you now have over 1 million views, every one richly deserved. I have watched this video 5 times myself. You had the foresight to see a big event coming and to record it as it unfolded. You even revealed exactly where you were. I have watched countless other videos where people identify a road or highway but fail to say where they are starting or in which direction they are going. I hope the people who admire your work flood your GoFundMe account as robustly as Mother Nature poured down the rain. I had ancestors in what the cryptic records call Crabtree Valley. I hope to visit that area in the spring and will look you up, if you re-build in the area. I'm not an art fan, but I absolutely want to see the new pieces you will create after this challenging experience. God bless you and give you peace. Bob from High Point
GOD is good.
There are no words, I am so sorry for you. May God bless you somewhere down this road of trial and heartache
Thank God you documented this, because media acts like nothing happened.
If anyone is interested have a look at the seaside village if Boscastle in Cornwall, UK. Its at the bottom of a valley, with steep hills on every side. A few years ago the water poured down those hills and swept the village away into the sea. Luckily the coast guard launched a mass rescue and lifted all the residents to safety off their roofs. Its a magical place, infact its home to the museum of witchcraft, due to its links with Alastair Crowley. No where near as devastating as this flood, but the power of water is just terrifying.
Unreal!
I’m sorry for the people that had to go through this, defiantly life changing. I’m a climate change believer, many here are most likely not. But scientists have been warning of things like this coming if we don’t make the changes to avert this. The way I look at it, these scientist got into science because they love the subject/field. Not once did any of them say, hey I think I’ll get into science to fool someone or some government one day. They are not saying these things for any personal gain. People are always on about not trusting politicians but most of you believe one now. One man does not know everything, one man does not have as ll the answers. A group of individuals with a love of a field, will get a lot closer to the truth better than self serving individual.
IS THIS A DIFFERENT PROPERTY THAN THE HOME THAT WAS DESTROYED
😢😮so sad for you power of water is un matched. Have to rebuild higher up
what a beautifully shot video, really captures the essence of Yancey County during such a tough time. I gotta say though, while the flooding is definitely a serious issue, it seems like the portrayal here might be a bit too dramatic. The reality is that floods happen, and maybe we should focus more on the resilience of the community rather than just the destruction. Just my two cents!
Really hard to believe that was once rain
great video, really appreciate the effort you put into capturing the flood in Yancey County. however, I can't help but think that the focus should've been more on the community response rather than just the natural disaster itself. it's important we highlight how people come together in tough times, right?
Great landing. I’d have stuffed it for sure 😂
Nothing I can say will help, but I wish you God’s blessings. Also, that was badass staying to document it. Really brave.
great video, very informative and well put together! but honestly, i think the focus on the flood's impact in Yancey County overshadows the broader environmental issues we're facing. it's not just about recovery; we need to address climate change as a whole. what do you all think?
Absolutely crazy, I’m soo sorry man
Everything is temporary
My gosh prayers to you and all your loss my heart is breaking for you all the footage you got of this flooding my gosh iam at a loss for words
Weather extreme. Seems that 2024 was the rain year. Here in palatinate forest germany had been that extreme rain in may that the small stream had its highest level ever. Lots of mud slides where never been before. And now had been dryest oktober ever. So twrrible the weather change. Wish you lots of energy for rebuilding your things
Did you have any idea? Those huge waves…are horrifying.
This is an excellent video. Great job man, you put us right there thank you.
Do you have a go fund me?
I can’t imagine. So sorry , you are a brave man .
Thanks for documenting this. I keep thinking, why not move vehicles up on high ground?
I will be donating to your community till i die...bless you all..
make any connections between you burning fossil fuel and this flood?
I don’t understand why you and the others stayed when it was getting higher?
It wasn’t a choice. I tried to leave for almost an hour before the water surged. All of the exiting roads were already blocked with trees. I finally turned around to help some of my neighbors when they were stuck, and then over the next two hours the water surge trapped us from using the roads at all.
ain't no niggah can stop de water when it want to go-Richard Pryor
From Rutherford county here, I still can't believe this happened. It's mind blowing
Damn.
Hey Jay, do you have an email address we can use to contact you regarding your Yancey County Burnsville flood video? I'd love to discuss a license to use it if possible! Cheers, Felix
It’s unfortunate hindsight, not moving the stuff to higher ground but I guess you never expected it to get this high (28foot I guess as it was higher the bridge)
I actually was there that morning specifically to move things up higher...My ignorance as to how high this was goin g to go is demonstrated near the beginning when I thought it would only go up about half way the piling. I would have needed 24 to 36 hours of time if I had known. I'm going tomorrow to do more footage.
What happened to the goats
My heart breaks for you and all your neighbors that have lost so much.
I am so sorry for your loss. May God rebuild your home and possessions many times over.
14:45 "Hey, you can't park there!" In all seriousness tho. At least you survived. The building y'all got on the roof of, could have very easily ended the same as your building. Consider how many others were in the same position, but the building didn't hold up to the current. Karma was on your side. Good luck.
You need any help, extra set of hands, let me know. I’m on Jack’s Creek… I’m serious…
Thank you. I am trying to reply to these wonderfully supportive comments. I am in a holding pattern right now, waiting to see if there is any way for me to easily access the property. I will be posting a video tomorrow of what I saw on Friday. I am grateful for your support and comments. JP
