Makishima is such a interesting character, I mean his methods were immoral but at the same time the whole Sybil system is broken, I didn't understand him fully the first time when I watched the anime but I didn't hate him and I agreed on many things with him. In the anime the whole world is broken and at war, Japan is save and peaceful for most people only because of the system but at the same time many people are locked up or used as slaves because the system said so. First season was a philosophical masterpiece but I liked all the new seasons and movies too.
