Lorenzo clearly won . + kite angles, + blind landings, + heights in the whole heats,+ tot. points, -- crashes, +++ Style. BUT...Like last year kota, the judges always have "special eyes" for Andrea only. Why ???? Last year Lorenzo was clearly robbed for the 90% of the world out there. This year this happened with Giel. And again with Lorenzo in final. Yes they were nearest that last year, but you cannot give a victory "cause of more horizontal travel distance of Andrea" when during skipper meeting you have asked clearly free fall and kite angles... 2 titles in a row robbed to Lorenzo is something that put dark shadows about the transparency of Kota. There are too many $$ interests under to allow the deserved win to Harlem😪

No. Lorenzo was muuuch better. Not only in this final, also during all this event and during all the 2024 year. Is not a case he beated Andrea the last 4 times. But "strangly" when we arrive to Kota , judges always have a very "Special" treatment when Andrea lands and he celebrates as if he had landed the best trick in the world with the kite angle of a downloop. Sad. I would say last year was even worse than this year, but also this year is clear Lorenzo is really being heavily penalised. Last year could be a judges mistakes, but whan it happens for 2 yrs in a row, i stop to believe this is a mistake. Very sad

For me is clear that watching Giel and Lorenzo heats that Andrea had, also this year, the favours of the judges. I can't say if this is psychological subjection , cause last year Andrea won all, but his year Lorenzo won quite all, so i don't think. When the things goes so strange someone say its always just about money.

The winner are the judges ! For the 2nd year in a row noone undsterdoot why Lorenzo lost, why Giel didn't advanced against Andrea, why the overall impression score is still something than not 1 rider is able to descirbe. I stopped to think this sport is clean.

I think 99% of the watchers believed that Giel had Andrea and they were really surprised by the result...from the live stream, Giel looked much stronger in that heat...but it is not Andrea to blame...I only think that the judges should get their head straight on what they wnat to watch...cause Andrea hasn't been scored high all year long and now he managed to take out Giel on one of his best days...in cold hawaii Cohan, recovering from an injury, took Andrea's out focusing on low kite angles...there is a bit of discrepancy and I feel for Giel, who really put on a great show on marginal wind

being there live, i think the final could have gone either's way, but andrea was going slightly bigger and more extreme than lorenzo in the final. i've seen multiple people argue that giel was robbed against andrea. for sure when watching live it felt like that heat could also have gone either's way (a friend i was with thought andrea was sadly out) but i don't think that it was a real "robbery". stijn vs jamie for example was absolutely clear that stijn was supposed to win, as he was going much bigger than jamie. maybe giel's riding style makes his tricks look less extreme.

The title of the video suggests that the content will analyze whether another rider should have won. It infers that another rider SHOULD have won. But the video does not actually claim or address that. Is it phrased that way so more people will watch it?

As a Capetonian I dont recall conditions like this in my memory. September and October was fantastic I thought going to be the best year ever then November and phuttt and December is looking same nothing good

Why they dont just go on foil kites with foil boards? Its all about the most versatile rider so let them show off in light wind! They would still go massive.

The on thing everyone is forgetting about "just running it in Jan" is that there is a massive stage, road closures, government permits, security, sanitation, etc. All of this stuff needs to be planned, organised and executed to have the event. They cant just all pitch up to the beach and go for a kite - there is a lot of work involved. I dont think this competition is big enough in terms of viewership to warrant red bull spending more cash on it. But hopefully im wrong. Whoever they use as a meteorologist should be fired though - they could just ask a local to check windguru and they would have a much better idea of when the wind will blow.

Best option: hold it in January/February, so I can stay home for Christmas, after enjoying Christmas, then head to Cape Town and enjoy the beach for a great start of the year!

I was there, and although I am not a foiler, Brodel absolutely crushed it. It was really surprising that he didn’t get a huge score. He went by far the highest, and had aggressive kite angles. Seemed as if the judges just didn’t favor him.

Option 4: Since every rider had at least 1 heat, everyone has a score, and they could make a rank with those scores. In this case Jamie would win. They often do the same in freestyle skiing competitions when the conditions do not allow a final.

Kitesurfer needs to make sure it’s clear downwind of where he’s jumping too. His fault… although tricky if you don’t know how to a wood it when in the air.

I have a big-ish place (compared to normal in Europe) and I still have a shelf for it. I store all my boards upright, but sideways (90degreas turned from how you have them here) and next to it, a tall shelf that fits big bins for wetsuits and cubbies for kites. You could easily do that in your apartment. I’d install poles sticking out of the wall that you can lay all your boards on above the kites.
