I got to the point where I stopped asking guests if they wanted to apply for that damn credit card. I left in 2010 because of idiot managers. Thankfully we did not have to help other departments. Target was a good store at one point but it has gone down hill.

I was fortunate enough to know someone who was apart of the hr team from my application to online interview to orientation took under a week for me. the location i applied for was in desperate need of workers for seasonal so they were open for anyone to hire. I had a pretty set availability since my times depend on my brother and they knew that when i applied. At first my schedule was a bit weird and not set but I always had 38-40 hours and after christmas I had gotten a set schedule. At the target I work at we get $16 per hour i’m not sure why but its nice. Training was a bit odd, we would shadow someone on our first shift then be set on our own during that first shift and then we’d train others a week later. I’ve been working there for a bit over 3 months and i’m finally full time and not seasonal, I’ve been trained in checkout, self checkout, guest services, general merchandise, cleaning, and fullfillment (and they are even talking about training me in starbucks because im an opener and we only have 1 starbucks opener so if they were to call out a store opener could cover them) because they never know which department will be lacking throughout the day.

Good video. I’m trying to get a lead position. They gave me 65 hours last week. I never get capped at 25 to 30 hours. I always get 40 hours when they don’t allow overtime as well. I’ve worked at 2 targets now and your managers play a huge role in job satisfaction. I got 2 great leads that inspire me everyday to be my best self. They don’t get mad if your a little late but I’m always early. Be willing to learn every department in the store and have a positive vibe or energy when you come in and while your working. My last target couldn’t of cared less. This new one gave me employee of the month and helps me grow. It’s all luck because some bosses can suck. With good bosses I literally have no complaints on the job.

Probably cashier but some days you do stay at your register for a while... Or maybe soft lines (clothing) but you don't interact as much only organize and stock... Hard lines (merchandiser) is sorting out and stocking items from the back which deals with logistics if I'm not mistaken... I found that one quite interesting

Sorry for the late reply yes so at least in the environment I was in and from the HR manager herself, they look for outgoing people "Target hires great people" was their sort of motto. Candidates that would provide a welcoming experience rather than just doing their job. Making people feel good and appreciated.

You hit on everything about working at Target. I was a Cart Attendant Team Lead and worked as a cashier, guest service, food avenue, and electronics. They really pushed red cards back in 2000 when I first started working for them. I was one of the people who sold the most red cards and had a table with prizes that the guests can pick out after they sign up for a red card. I did not like asking people to sign up for red cards even if I was good at it. You got to the point where you forgot who you asked and you'd ask the same person twice. I got used to cleaning the restrooms and I'd say the worst part of the job was having to do everything because other team members didn't want to do their job and you got called on a lot to pick up the slack. It was got called zoning when we were closing. I'm not sure if they still use that term and facing items at the end of the night. I remember not getting out of there until 3am around the holidays because they wouldn't let you leave until everything is zoned. I ended up working there for 3 years and quit.

I was thinking about a variety of positions such as stocking shelves and being a cashier.
