This is what Friedrich Nietzsche was getting at.
that man was SUCH an awesome actor
one of the best, most meaningful, beautiful songs ever, in any musical genre.
Peter Firth was far better in this film.
Peter Firth was terrific in it, no doubt. But he isn't in this scene.
@@PhoenixProdLLC He was the lead.
sucking the sweat off his gods hairy cheek this is full of pure power it captures the madness of desire i must have it at all costs no matter the outcome because i need it

My gawd! Look how happy Jerry is! He loves this shiz!
*Mia Farrow beauty was Just amazing, it's Just wonderful How good she was as an actor back then*
This is the horror of civilization, the extinction of passion. It is, as Dysart pointed out, an essential part of the human spirit without which we die. People in positions of corporate or political leadership attempt to destroy the authentic passion of humanity and replace it with an artificial passion they'd designed. It always fails.
God is out there 🙏
Great song
Richard Burton magnificent
100!
The Dead weren’t worthy of Etta James. What’s with that goofy groove they lay down? That’s all ya got?
Christ Our Lord offers answer
It is unfathomable that Richard Burton didn't get an Oscar for this.
It was a strong performance for sure, but more suited to the stage than the silver screen, I think. He was so over the top with his theatrical outbursts, although I have to admit that I didn't notice that until I watched it in parallel with Don Juan de Marco where Marlon Brando plays a similar roles and hits it out of the ballpark with his understated acting.
Amo esta canción
I wonder why they didn't work together again
You can't find meaning of the word without Jesus
And he lost to Richard Dreyfuss for "Goodbye Girl." Let that sink in.
Oh, you're kidding. Well, as far as I'm concerned, the academy awards are mostly a popularity contest. I realized that back in 1993 when Leonardo di Caprio, who did such a great job of playing an autistic and developmentally disabled teenager that I thought he was actually disabled (and I used to work with kids like that), lost to Tommy Lee Jones playing Tommy Lee Jones in The Fugitive.

epic
I was privileged to see Richard Burton in this play at the Plymouth Theater in the 1970s, he was brilliant.
I ADORE READING
The Pretenders "Show Me" Learning To Crawl Sire Records, 1984
Surprisingly great sound for an old video
You left out the best part. When Atkins makes her reply and Burton listens to her with a look of absolute desolation on his face
**NOW HEAR THIS** This film seeks to illuminate one shining fact, and does so admirably well: **CRAZY PARENTS = CRAZY CHILDREN**
False.
Amazing performance of the worst material of the 1970s. 💩 play.
You really didn’t get it did you? Amazing play. A little deeper than your understanding.
Hermosa canción 😭😭❤️
As a college student working my summer job, I had limited funds to spend on albums. This song however, in the spring of 1984, convinced me to buy Learning To Crawl after my first paycheck that summer. Wore that album out!
Yikes, I still think of her with Jim Kerr on this.
It's a Rodney Crowell tune
I was there and it was spiritual moment I will never forget.
I cant think of a single woman singer/ frontman who nailed it like Chrissie ! Voice, looks... general persona 😍😘♥️
My favorite song ❤️
Mi favorita de The Pretenders, cuántos recuerdos de amores fallidos en plena adolescencia 😍😍🇲🇽
Chrissie😘🎸😍🇧🇷👍

Burton's character conveys a psychiatrist who has been woken up by the demonstration of the young boy's plight. He realises the boy is acting more honestly and genuinely than he ever has. I think he fully sees the many shortcomings of his industry through what he has learned in the case of Equus. It's not rage so much as it is a harsh learning and conviction of the reality of the situation that makes him vehement, jealous and bitter. He is intelligently moved by the boy's lack of social conformity or any other conformity in how he went about trying to break out of his trap. It is not middle age looking on youth with jealousy, it is lack of passion illuminated by passion, regardless of age, a lesson both terrible and wonderful.
What a bunch of crap. The cruelty and sadism exhibited by the "boy" is horrible! The film is one sick fucked-up old man looking at another fucked up, cruel megalomaniac and deluding himself that a fetish is a mystical experience!
@@letolethe3344 Look, I cannot match your excellent terms of critique. Your argument is a winner! Stick with it. Good luck.
Met up with an old friend & touring companion tonight for 1st time in 27 years. The old Seldom Scene version of this tune came on his ipod & he reminded me that we were there that night at the Spectrum to hear the Dead play this. I'd completely forgotten, but the memory flooded back - so many of us at that show (Band & fans alike) were worried about friends and family out in SF, even though it'd been a couple days the phones weren't really back up yet & info was still trickling in. You can hear how some of us recognized the song immediately (though the Dead had never played it before it's popular in the bluegrass world,) and everyone else got it pretty quick. I imagine Jerry knew the song & taught it to the others backstage that day. The connection between the band & the audience was so powerful that night. Watch as the crowd reaction boosts the band to perform better, the encouragement and feeling going back & forth, building and growing into something truly wonderful. Everyone felt better for it. Moments like that were what made all the effort spent touring with the Dead worthwhile.
If I've commented before, please excuse but, this track is gold. Not only for her voice, the words but the bloody guitar.
Nicely done!:thanks.
It’s still a favorite. Sweet and realistic. This is what the world has to offer you. My sweet baby, this is it, we will give each other all the love need
