Why My Ope Rekord Distributor get loose even if tighten get loose jump timing

Awesome man, Just subscribed keep it up! I bought my Record C project just this week and got it running already. Now I have some brake issues and shifting issues ( It's a manual ) The shifting ball joints keep popping out. I feel like I am missing parts, Watched your video on the transmission fluid change but sadly the ball joint part wasn't visible.

Crankcase breathers both go into the air filter box
The fuel probably needed sloshing around. Maybe the oil either rose to the top or fell to the bottom and got sucked up by the fuel and it was running on too much oil making it smoke like crazy…
I started one that I installed a freshly rebuilt engine in and made a cloud of smoke that engulfed my house from the oil used in assembly of the engine. 😂
same car I had, I miss it terribly, was taken from me by my mechanic, long story. I would love to have my VW back or this year anyway. Thank-you for posting, bring tears to my eyes, bringing back alot of memories.

@@LauritzHansen Thank you, but I'm in the UK, and all I need right now is a case for the softtop sensor - it's shorting when wet and telling me that the softtop operation needs to be completed, but I can fix that. Otherwise, she's just peachy :)

I drove a friends DKW a few times. I thought the handling was loosey goosey (my technical term) compared to my two-stroke Saabs. How does a Wartburg handle?

Tom Donney has info on updating and improving the reliability of these old Saab 2 strokes, including modern roller bearings. Most people call those feeler guages, btw.

Very nice car, I have a coupe model produced by GM/Chevrolet in Brazil, from 1972 to 1988, basically with the same lines, just a few cosmetic changes throughout the years. They used a GM 250 cid inline 6 cylinder engine, and a GM 4 cylinder 151 cid, This car was called OPALA = Opel (body) + Impala (engine). Today It's a collectible item. I bought a 1966 SAAB 96 Monte Carlo way back in 1987. Three cylinder 850 cc 2 stroke triple carb . What fun until the oil injection pump failed and the engine seized. Still, I sold the car for what I paid for it even with a broke engine.
I am sorry yours broke. The design of those engines is meant to stop the engine if the oil pump quits turning. The drive gear is held to the crank by two spring-loaded spurs that engage notches in the drive gear. I never trusted that system and ran some premix using synthetic oil.

very cool! im pondering also to buying 68 rekord for daily driver but the winters might be a little rough here in finland. What kind of fuel consumption do you get from the 1.9l now with the carburetor set up correctly?
Amazing to hear! it's wonderful cars. Mine is a 1900 Automatic which is bad for fuel consumption. in summer time i would say 8,5 KM pre liter and winter 7 BR. Lauritz
Meine Eltern fuhren insgesamt 3 OPEL REKORD C. Ich habe ihn geliebt!! Würde mir so gerne mal einen OPEL REKORD C für ein Wochenende ausleihen. Einen goldfarbenen mit schwarzem Dach sollte es sein. Wie würde ich mich freuen, wenn mein Wunsch wahr werden würde!!! Ich wohne in Gudensberg, das liegt zwischen Fritzlar und Baunatal.

Surprised that a thick washer can change the hight of the fuel so much but looking at the video it makes sense. The distance from the float center to the float valve is something like 1:4 so a washer that is 2 mm makes a difference of 8 mm in the fuel level. After this video it makes sense that original parts does make life much easier. Keep on filming !
