Gibson ES-175 This Gibson guitar, the Es175, was the main guitar of Joe Pass. He got one for his birthday from a guy named Mike Peak in 1963, who saw Joe Pass playing jazz on a solid body (the Fender Jazzmaster).
Here is the personnel. This video from Blue Note, Tokyo, Japan, has the same people as the "For Django" recording session in 1964. "for django" 1964 features Joe Pass (g) John Pisano (g) Jim Hughart (b) Colin Bailey (dr).
I took lessons from him from ‘73 to ‘75 when I lived in Van Nuys. We would play jazz standards and I would stop him when I heard/saw something that I was capable of playing. He always told me to sing my solos.
I saw him in Chicago in the late 80’’s? I talked to Joe for 4 -5 minutes . A great guy. He was selling his own CD’s and Cassettes at a table. He was signing autographs etc... He’s a virtuoso!🎸🎼
Nice solo, inventive and nicely sculpted. About 5:05 I hear him quote Desafinado. Interesting how he alternates from plectrum to finger style. Different effects can be achieved depending.
@@greatvanzini it was not exactly a 175 but very similar. He describes it in the dvd "An evening with Joe Pass", this is the video ruclips.net/video/HSeJSWwEyoE/видео.html
it's good but I'm partial to this Wes take (and by the way, I love Joe Pass!) It's music, so this is about taste, not about something being better or not as good : ruclips.net/video/pZ0ybQnhsvc/видео.html
Didn't notice. But it does give more top end if needed. For instance (I play the same guitar) if bass pickup on 8 or 9 and treble pickup on 2 or 3. Tone controls to taste.
@@Studio-62 I find it gives it more airy feel. Same thing when played with single coils or doing jazz on a SSS config. Also find it really helpful to have this as an options when the bass overpowers and the guitar control are all I have access to.
Do you have any sheet music? I really need it for guitar
best version of nicas dream
Joe Pass speak with his guitar..you can hear what he is saying..
Man, I wonder what it’s like being such an incredible drummer/ghost…
Just look at their faces. They’re having an absolute gas. Lovely to see. RIP Joe P, you legend.
1 Year since my last entry and he still is the great Joe Pass

A cool thing about jazz is that you can peak in your 70’s.
Попытка закосить под Джорджа Бенсона правалилась 😂
The other musicians please don’t let me make a mistake 🤣
I don't know which version I like of this song better !!!
La beauté des phrases 👍
Joe Pass, Jonh Pisano, best...

Very Good
Pass is a gas.
i just simply love Joe Pass' style of playing. He leads but just knows how to enable the other musicians to shine through from time to time.

Joe Pass one of our great forefathers in our beautiful Jazz tradition.
Don't put the pick in your mouth! Coronavirus!!!
The great joe pass
un lujo escuchar a PAT MARTINO
so smooth
The 175-Club...
that tone!
With 175!
Whew! what a killer!
Pass is still the greatest hard bob jazz player, in MY opinion. It is a personal choice, you may and probably will differ and that's ok.
Oh, if only everyone knew that it's OK for someone to differ.
I like to think that nobody played better than Joe.
anyone who could hold the guitar chair with oscar peterson has to be one of the best ever.
Who's the drummer on this?
Keith moon 🌙
How great this is....please remeber who was the best...
When he starts to sing is very funny his face. Great!
Mestrao

Beautiful person and a beautiful player.
Impeccable musicianship all around! What a performance!
When was this recorded? Last time I saw Joe performing live was *forever* ago in 1979. :-)
This is the late Joe Pass, the gig isafter 1990 since he plays the Gibson signature model.
@@Domingojazz Joe had a 175 ish signature? I did not know that. Have to keep an eye open.

If there ever was an open road cruising song , this is it. Way too smooth.
I'd love to have seen Joe Pass live...
Who is the bass player?
Jack Bone - Jim Hugart. Reunion of the original band on the Pacific Jazz album, For Django
Joe has this tune in his hands.
Sounds bossa Nova but can be wrong forgive me if it isent.

Joe Pass is killing it on this standard!! A fantastic interpretation and arrangement
Pickups are on 'Middle' position - interesting detail :)
