DKH TACTICAL
Добавлен 17 сен 2010
I am just getting established here on RUclips with my Channel. DKHTactical will be a Channel devoted to Reloading - specifically Shotshell Reloading (Buckshot) and Wax Slugs. I am a 20 year Navy Veteran who currently makes a living as a DoD Contractor, but my passion and spare time are pretty much devoted to shooting, and reloading. I recently completed a Gunsmithing and Certified Armorer's Course, and I have taken several NRA classes - to include Metallic and Shotshell Reloading, and Bullet Casting. I reclaim LEAD from local ranges, clean it, melt it down, flux it, and cast into ingots for use in my Bottom-Pour Lead Pot. I sell LEAD on eBay, and will soon be marketing some items I am currently manufacturing for the purpose of Hand Loading Buckshot for 20 and 12 Gauge, as well as items for creating Wax Slugs. You can contact me at dkhanlin@gmail.com or dkhtactical@gmail.com if you are interested in any of the items I will be selling.

12 & 20 Gauge "ShotShell Holders" for Reloading
Просмотров 2,6 тыс.9 лет назад
After many 12 and 20 Gauge Buckshot Reloading instances where I was in the middle of loading up several ShotShells and then toppling over a few that were loaded up and ready for crimping - I had just about had enough, and went looking for a ShotShell Holder. I found dozens of various caliber Metallic Cartridge Holders - but nothing for Shotgun Shells. So I set out on an adventure to make my own...
Cleaning and Melting Reclaimed "Range Lead" into Ingots
Просмотров 245 тыс.9 лет назад
During our last trip to the Range, we brought back 555 LBS of Reclaimed Range Lead. We use homemade sifters to separate the bullets from the dirt and most of the debris. After an initial clean up by washing all the reclaimed lead and setting it out to dry for a week, we melted it all down into some of the cleanest and best looking ingots we have produced yet. We ended up with 351 LBS in cast in...
"Cleaning Dirty .223 Range Brass"
Просмотров 6 тыс.9 лет назад
Brought back some extremely dirty .223 Brass from the Range. It looked like it had been there for quite a while, and had been laying in the mud. There was mud and sand caked down inside each piece of brass. It was a nasty cleanup. Just decapping them was a pain. I wasn't very confident that we would end up with any brass that I would feel good about using, but I was very surprised at what we en...
"Wax Slugs with a Roll Crimp" - "Roll Crimping Wax Slugs"
Просмотров 80 тыс.9 лет назад
This video details my method of creating Wax Slugs, and applying a Roll Crimp. By Roll Crimping the Wax Slug, it alleviates some of the inherent dangers that exist when leaving the end of the slug exposed. The extra effort involved in Roll Crimping creates a much safer, much cleaner, and more aesthetic looking slug.
"Shot Shell Cutting/Trimming Tool Demo"
Просмотров 7 тыс.9 лет назад
I was just getting into making Wax Slugs and needed a better way of opening the end of the 12 and 20 Gauge Shot Shells (rather than with a knife), and as Necessity is the Mother of All Inventions" I thought I would try making my own Shot Shell Trimming/Cutting Tool. I was doing mine with a knife - which works, but it is time consuming, specifically if you are trying to get a nice even, clean cu...
Free Lead Giveaway
Просмотров 3769 лет назад
I'm launching my RUclips Channel, and thought a good way to start and get some attention and possibly some followers would be to do a "Give-Away" of 15lbs of Lead... If you are interested, just post a comment saying "Im interested" or something to that effect. I will post a Random Drawing on Saturday, 25 April 2015 and will announce the winner... Good Luck everyone!!
If your wearing shorts while messing with molten lead, then you are not using proper PPE. I have a nasty scare on me leg as proof of that.
How do yall know the hardness of your ingets
Can roofing lead be used for the same purpose?
Nice haul but good lord man...working with molten lead, fire and propane with a trip hazard every 5 inches is not smart.
Don’t know Shi? About a mini-14 ding dong
very nice!
How much work goes into taking it from ingots to bullets/shot
It doesn't look like you are weighing the load (shot) before dropping them in the hull. Random weights is not great for consistency.....
How long did it take u at the range to collect this amount of lead?
You are doing really good if you can gross 100 pounds every hour or hour and a half DIGGING and SIFTING them out of a dirt backstop. Not like a indoor range running through a strawberry patch where every shovel is a keeper. Ok, so say you are lazy and one of these sorry excuses who feels their time is worth so much money (usually very overestimated). Good USABLE bullet lead is worth $2.50 - $3.50 per pound now. Do the math and you will come out way ahead of the game.
What do you do with the water that you wash them with? I have a well so I don’t want to dump it on the ground?
16mm diamond hole bit should cut your work load in half
What did you use to flux the lead? Candle wax or saw dust?
Both and sawdust should always be first.
Thank you
@@1212skindog You are very welcome my friend.
Figure out a way to overlay grid plate on shell holder plate (with a boundary shim height at clearance needed for roll crimping and you could do entire plate at once w/o handling each shell.
Couldn't you use a Dremel cut-off wheel to cut slots in a spoon (hot wax drainage) for shot refill, then top off with wax? Spoons could stay in wax pot between fillings (heat absorption) lessening wax accumulation.
What is the peace of blue clour
Why do you prefer to roll crimp instead of star crimp? Is there a downside to star crimping?
Nothing wrong with star crimping. Roll crimping is just my "preference".
Tamp them down...not temp.
you should make good money with shell cutters you make !
I reload shotgun for hunting and shotgun sports. since ive been watching some you tube vids i see these kind of vids all the time now. - I dont doube its not illegal to load and shoot one of these for fun in the desert but, one has to wonder of the legality of using one for self defense.
Man!...I can smell those toxic lead fumes from here. Makes me want to put on a respirator just to watch!😷
All those lead ingots lead me to believe you have a primer guy you know those things that have become ultra rare😅😂🤣💯
What were you using for Flux?
Nice video. The one thing I didn't like was seeing bare legs with zero protection. Lead burns are terrible.
PLEASE let me know when the 12g shell cutting tool is ready for sale
I found that leaving the shoulder on the shell works pretty good. The way I do it is to cut the center out with a diamond hole cutter.
If you just cut the crimped part of it out carefully, then you keep the rolled edge on it.
What is the flux you putting in there?? Looks like wax..
Wow that's a lot..
Where did you get the shotgun cutters
I made them.
Thanks chief
what is the thing you put your blue color on?
If you’re still making these, I’m interested in getting one of them in 12 gauge.
Excellent work, very professional. You said you 3d printed the shot shell cutters?. Now all you need is a few Coates of boiled linseed oil on that Birch wood bench top, a little buffing with some "0000" steel wool, and you'll have a bullet proof, liquid resistant bench top!. 👍
Great video 👍 I see that you quench the ingots in water do you quench again when you’re casting bullets
Is the resulting alloy from melting copper jackets into the lead still useful for bullets? What is this alloy called and what're it's properties?
Why does nobody put a LID on the pans to keep the heat inside making the melting process a LOT faster?
N Ja klar Bleigeschosse barfuß und dann auf der Wiese super Toll
Wow! Great operation!
Can't get a round in ky the hogs get em all before I can get to the store. I just want to squirrel hunt but they making money. I hope they have to eat all of em
Do you sell the shell prepper?
Used to do something similar to this in the New Zealand Forest Service back in the early 60's when we didn't have the money to buy SG's. Convert duck shot into pig ammo. We prized open the cartridge top, left the shot in place and poured candle wax in. Not pretty but effective......
I used to do that when I was a kid
Problem is if the shot isn't up to temperature the wax solidifies upon contact. Much less cohesive mass.
Fascinating, very nice video👍
Thanks Chief, and welcome to the watchlist.
watchlist?
Your video look interesting brought your camera guy leaves much to be desired very aggravating watching a video Sideways
Learn to edit, opening splash grossly over boosted, dove to lower volume and didn’t realize you were narrating
The only way if your going to use a magazine fed... excellent video! Thank you!
I learned a lot from your video
Use a over shot wad so it doesn't fall out
Can you make me a cutter for my 410g?
Cool
I just skip the step of putting shot in wax. I load my shot as much as I want with measured dippers then pour the wax in. The liquid wax will fill all the voids.
