Everything worked out well. The DIY trim plates are way better then the original trim plates and the extra seal using the foam sheet did the job of preventing water from seeping into the hull. This is what I need to do too
it worked well for me, hope it does for you too.
TOP STUFF TOP JOB
Thank you kind sir!
I've had a FT012 for a while. I am convinced most of the water that gets inside comes up the prop shaft. Sort of a high speed drip drip. You can grease the inside of the prop tube , but even with this water still gets in.
You are not wrong about the grease part. This seal process I did was after submerging the boat to detect where water was going in from and after this process there were no bubbles coming out from the boat when submerge underwater fully and rotating all round. Since then I only get very little droplets of water when the boat dives under.
Our was intermittent briefly, and now won't charge or start. I checked the charger and it's supplying current. Ideas? It's just dead. Would the fuse prevent it from charging and starting?
Fuse does not prevent it from charging. check mosfet on circuit board.
How do you make the DIY tabs?
made them out of a square shape plastic rod by using a Dremel cutting, sanding the shape and size required.
Plastic. It breaks easily
Mine is still holding up. Mainly use it for action camera, mobile phone and rarely use it for large item like DSLR.
Hi, can the batterries be replaced? Also I had broke the small blue LED chargind indicator as it snapped while I removed the case, can i just solder it back on? Thanks!
Battery can be replaced with correct specs. Blue LED can be soldered on if still in working condition.
My cleaner works only for 1 minute and shuts down. Do you think that it might be the same problem? It charges, it works but stops all of a sudden. I shut it down and turn it on again and again, it works one minute and shuts down.
i do not think it is the same problem. you will not be able to use the machine if the fuse is blown. Try to check if the clearance of the vacuum hole is blocked with too much dirt and if so clean it.
@@hobby5746 Thnx. At first, I thought it is a problem with the battery, but it works and stops suddenly. I mean, it works less than a minute and stops. You know, it is not that slow shutdown, when the battery is weaker and weaker, the motor works slower and slower... no. It stops all of a sudden. I turn it off and turn it on and it works again, yes, less than the first time, but still... That's why I thought that it might be an issue with the thermal fuse. I mean it has lost its properties and now it is too sensitive to the warmth. Thanks anyway. If I do not find the problem I will give it a try changing the batteries... But this is totally another story.
@@grigoreciobanu7777 the symptom you describe sounds to me like there is either a stress somewhere in the machine which is likely the case whereby the suction hole is block and it auto turn off so the motor does not over strain and burn out. That is the reason why i asked you to check and try cleaning the vacuum inside out especially the suction hole area. There could also be dirt stuck in the motor which is also a possibility that disrupt it from spinning properly and creating heat and raising the voltage intake which might kick in the safety circuit also. to clean the motor you will need to remove it and use battery to run it and dip it into water in order to clean it. there are tutorial in youtube for cleaning brush motors. if that is not the problem then my next step would be taking a very close look at the chip board to see if there is anything gone bad.
Hey Grigore did you finally solve the problem out?? i have the exact same problem... what was it???
@@grigoreciobanu7777 I have the same problem. Any ideas?
How I buy it please provide link to buy
It is best you try searching your local online stores or if you prefer any global stores like amazon, aliexpress and etc.
Good
Thanks
Where did you buy it?
Aliexpress
Hi. Did you ever figure out how to get under the motor. It seems that it is fused together to be unable to get into the motor/fan area since I ran it without the filter by accident. Thanks if you can reply
to get to the motor you need to remove all the screw around the rubber ring then( i cant remember correctly but try both methods) slowly pry the in-between open or twist open it is normally held on by plastic tabs. Careful not to break the tabs.
Does the audio recording cable only work in android
yes
I tried to get one, The Black And Decker doesn't have one, they said they don't carry the thermal fuse and told me to get a mew unit because my warranty is expired!!
snap a picture of the thermal specification and take it to your local electronic part shop and asked them for a part that can substitute it or just find something online which is close to the specification. Best to do some research on the different types of thermal fuse and usage as it will help you in selecting the proper type.
@@hobby5746 If I buy the battery does the fuse come with it?
@@georgechryssanthou4433 Sorry i am not sure but i do not think it will come with it, unless it is the battery with the entire circuit board. It would be much easier to snap a picture of the fuse and take it to your local electronic shop and have them suggest a replacement and just DIY.
Where did you buy it?
You can get it at online stores but i got mine at a local electronic parts shop as i needed it urgent.

If that is PVC it is 1/2 inch not 3/4 inch. How does the rig retreive a boat?
it is 1/2 inch not 3/4 inch, thank you for correcting but both size can be use depending on your need and preference. The boat that needs rescue is collected between the fork and pushed back to land.
Cool I'm definitely going to be getting one of these
👌👍😉
BUEN TRABAJO.

But in amazon only 2 propaler are there why
you need to make query with your seller.
but why not permanent? whats the boat behaviour after this mod? is it turn well with uncentered rudder and equal rudder turning?
i was having trouble turning the boat evenly, as i was doing this test i learn how to improve the turn and balance them.
@@hobby5746 thats obvious. im asking what the behaviour and control with this mod? does it give any cons?
@@ИмяФамилия-и7ш7у i gain greater turn radius, do not seem to encounter any cons with this mod.
Awesome vid! What is the purpose of it? I just bought and ft012 so this is all new for me. Also what needs greasing before I Run it?
Glad you found this video helpful. Out from the box you should add grease to the shaft and transmission joints, this DIY cover is to prevent or contain grease splatter in the hull.
@@hobby5746 brilliant... Do you have a aluminum rudder on yours? I'd like to get one. Ideas?
@@jaredshowers1 yes i do(my aluminum rudder is 1 side intake, there are aluminum rudder with 2 side intake), i would suggest to use the aluminum rudder if you have upgraded the boat for speed and also note that the intake water from the aluminum rudder is not that good (makes no difference if you increase the size of the intake hole on the 1 side aluminum rudder), because of the intake hole position(you will not have this problem if the intake is on both sides of the rudder). the volume of water intake depends on the direction of the rudder(if the hole is away from the direction of the water flow obviously much less or no water will be going in). The original intake water is much more consistent. so if you do use the aluminum rudder use its intake water for cooling items which does not get hot easily and use the original intake for item that heats up and needs proper cooling. Lastly, because of what i said earlier about the one side intake on the aluminum rudder i mod mine to have 2 holes 1 each side so whichever direction it turns water will go in.
Great Mod very useful indeed, but what sort of led should i look for, i have several laying around but most needs resistors right? What kind did you use in the video? If you use a 3s lipo does the led get 11.1 volts as well?
i use 5mm round led. I connect the led to the buzzer.
Waste of my time , looking at a bottle of paint , not the mechanics of the the machine .....big fail , get on with your painting and stop wasting other people's time !
Totally agree you wasted your own time, try reading the description and do not blame others for wasting your time. Take responsibility over your own actions. you also might have gain something by asking politely instead you chose to make a fool of yourself.
DIY Mean Do It Yourself , and there's no "Tutorial" or "How to make" on the title :)
1. do the power button turn off the pc? 2. do you tested also on Mac? 3. how customizable the buttons are?
1. Yes 2. No 3. Never tried, as it is serve my needs

there's a minimum voltage for the cell to bring them back to life, and in your experience one the cell is back how good the cell is going to be

Excellent mod. My FT012 came through the door this morning. I presume it doesnt have any LVC warning as standard?Really enjoying all your mod videos. Thank you
Your Welcome, I am glad you found them helpful. My FT012 have LVC and it was great on the first run but on the following runs problems came one after the other. I am lucky nothing melted, burned or it ended up resting at the bottom of the lake. Manage to located the problems and fix them one by one with almost no cost.
Do a maintenance check before you run it. Most important grease the prop shaft. Have fun boating :)
sorry for the late reply, where have you connected the led cable to? Its difficult to see in the video. Thank you
i connect them to the buzzer
Great idea - Ive seen other use heatshrink to prevent this too, which isn't a bad solution either
I find it troublesome to do maintenance for the heat-shrink method but i have another method which also solves few other problems, I will upload soon to share with all. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
Thanks for posting this!

can i ask something?
go ahead :)
do you think it would be possible to fabricate this with 1/2 inch pvc pipe for less weight on the boat?
if it can fit the pool noodle, i guess it would be ok but the worry is drag issue. There is a significant drag with this design. I have another design but have not started working on it yet to test how much drag is reduced. Once i have the time to do so I will upload it. You can have an idea of the performance for this design in this video bit.ly/2uofPG5

Why does it have micro and normal usb port?
Normal USB for charging the device battery, micro usb to use with the provided cable to connect to your mobile headphone jack (if you do not have Bluetooth)
OK, I see the FPV test...
:)
Have you actually ran the boat while running FPV? I've done my buggy and the perspective was poor to say the least being so low...just curious if it's the same on the boat?
yes the perspective is bad for the camera i use, takes awhile to get use to it. it would be better to use wider angle and better camera quality if you wish to have fun FPV. you can see the footage here ruclips.net/video/G_CW5Bf1aa8/видео.html
I bought one the same but it says 50w. Its a pile of crap, you don't even see any evidence of cavitation
where did you buy it from?
eBay a while back. It's one of those buys when you buy something, then put it away. The day I got it out to use it on some watch parts, I filled it with water to the Max mark. Started it and about midway through I could see it wasn't cavitating anymore. I could smell a slight burning too, so switched it off and I took the 4 screws out of the bottom, removed the several screws that hold the stainless steel bathtub and disconnected the power plug. Then when I removed the stainless steel bowl I could see the soldered positive terminal on the transducer was blackened/burnt. On the base of the unit it states 50W 42kHz. During a search on eBay for a new transducer the only ones I could find were 35W 40Khz. So it effectively had 3.5 minutes of use from new and died. Nothing I can do now because I probably bought it over a year ago.
I was worried of facing such problems when i purchased it as i notice there are a few units with same design and similar model number from different various sites, uncertain if they are from the same manufacturer but am lucky mine still works as it should.
Where is the focus?
you mean manual focus?
thanks for the tutorial I'm going do make it for my ft012 but i have a few questions why do you use spacers ? and what will be the difference between the short ones and the long ones ? thanks
I have not tested the long trim plates as I was happy with the results of the short trim plates. When you remove the original trim plates you will notice the screw holes protrude out, the spacer is to keep the surface flat so i can screw the DIY trim plates firmly on a flat surface. I hope you find this video helpful and you can improve your FT012 to your own satisfactory and maybe make a video and share the results. here is the video link to my testing of the trim plates: ruclips.net/video/siP6su2Wr4k/видео.html
I Have tested the long trim plates, it has drag but good in choppy waters
For more neat solution you can use transparent furniture bump rubbers or kid stickies.
Had that idea but could not find the correct size :) besides this method did not cost me anything and i am turning junk into gold again :)
Thanks for sharing, this is a very nice and neat button mod
