Do THIS to REMOVE MICROPLASTICS from Water at Home
My house relies mainly on well water so my only complaint is hard water. Is there any filter specifically for that ?
The Brita Elite filter has been independently certified to remove all of those things it didn't remove in your tests. How does that happen?
You really have to do cheaper unit reviews, like damn all these unites are over $500
To date, I've been relying heavily on requests from my audience to help prioritize which products I include in my testing projects. I appreciate your feedback and request - noted and added to my list!
What about the microplastics mate?
Finally ! A very comprehensive, unbiased reviews of water filters! So glad I came across your channel! I've been searching high and low for different countertop, gravity fed filters. Your extensive research is spot on! Thanks!
Glad you found the channel and my videos are helpful! Thanks for watching. Please let me know if you have any specific questions about the data!
Thanks for the great video! The process of selecting a water filter is much harder than I expected. Just curious, which water filter do you use in your kitchen?
I know just how hard choosing a water filter an be - that's why I made a video that explains how to do so using a data-driven process. Check it out! ruclips.net/video/JU4sPer1944/видео.html I use multiple water filters, including reverse osmosis for my drinking/ cooking water.
Wait…so what do you do for water hardness?? How do all the hard water filters not filter the water hardness?
There is no such a thing as a 'hard water filter' - the best way to address hardness is with a cation exchange water softener. Folks in rental situations probably can't install a whole house water softener, so you could use a portable softener like these intended for use in RVs geni.us/ntxW3 I'll be making a video on how exactly to hook one up to soften your shower water only. It's of course recommended to also use a water filter to address contaminants that pose greater health risk, like disinfection byproducts. The Weddell Duo geni.us/GDjF6Ct was the only one capable in my testing
PLEASE test the Philips and the Tappwater shower filter
Thanks for the request, I'll add it to my list to look into!
I'm sure this is all great information and he obviously knows what he's talking about but it doesn't help me a bit Does the filter work and can it be trusted what are its limitations where do we get the truth about the effectiveness of these filters. The marketing is all a big lie so we need some reliable information
Check out my other videos on the channel www.youtube.com/@waterfilterguru 😉 I test and review many of the most popular water filters using a proprietary data-driven scoring system waterfilterguru.com/how-we-test-water-filters/
Please test the Afina shower head! 🙏

I would really love to see a review if King Water Filtration whole house systems….

Don’t want to rain on your parade , BUT water does not necessarily need to be BOILED ❗️ GO LOOK IT UP, the temperature needed is I believe 160 degrees , just like the Pasteurization of milk… Don’t remember EXACTLY what they are called , but there is a small temperature measuring device that is used to Pasteurize your MILK / WATER… I have one , I just haven’t pulled it out for a while… CHECK IT OUT❗️
The point is that microbiologically unsafe water should be properly disinfected before consumption, and many brands have oversold their products as a solution capable of providing disinfection
Tap water only
Yes, this should not be used to filter untreated water (well or surface water) that's microbiologically unsafe
BTW there are no longer filters sold that are made by berkey.
I'm working on a video that explains exactly what happened with Berkey specifically - its so much more complex than most people think. Stay tuned.
@waterfilterguru ill be waiting but here is something that might interest many... Amazon is selling 4 replacement filters for like 50 bucks . Never heard of brand they basically don't mention what they do. It does say oder free and good tasting water. So am I a fool for paying 140.00 for 2 brand name with tested bragging rights. I was 100% confused looking for filters today.
@@offgridamy717 What contaminants are in your water that need to be addressed? It's also good to note that claims of ' third party testing to NSF standards' is _not the same thing_ as holding official performance certifications. I explain that specific deceptive marketing tactic in this video ruclips.net/video/pOOvhhrYlpw/видео.htmlsi=1cRFhsMxTzU-LT13&t=290
@waterfilterguru mine tested OK if you don't mind drinking brown water. I don't have a level of trust with shallow wells. My thing is remove particulates , bacteria ect. I'm on a mountain valley closer to the valley. I also have some unused life straw products.
@@offgridamy717 Proper disinfection (chemical, UV, boiling) is always recommended if well water is microbiologically contaminated. Ceramic filters can address some larger pathogens, but smaller bacteria may slip through.
I feel like I'm being mislead by youtube creators haha. Oh,,, and just about everyone else. I use a berkey and have for years. I have well water with sediment. A lot of what it claims to remove just isn't a issue for the avg user. Amish have been using them for decades. Now please do a video addressing why the government really went after berkey.

Silver has been used as a disinfectant for centuries.
I am not contesting the bacteriostatic/ bacteriocidal properties of silver. Rather, explaining how silver is intended to be used in water filters vs the claims made by many manufacturers
I’ve been using the Alexapure for 8 years. I LOVE IT. I can smell the difference (Chlorine) in my purified water.
Thanks for watching and for your comment! This brings up a good point to note, that most contaminants are undetectable by sight, taste or smell. So even if the water looks and tastes great, it may still have potentially dangerous contaminants present
would choosing a filter system based on my water companies annual report and the ewg tap water database suffice? Or is it necessary to do a 3rd party test? I know you recommend tap score, but $250 seems like a lot, when id then have to spend probably $1200-$2500 for the filter system and install.
Great question - while the consumer confidence report (CCR) from the municipal water supplier is a good starting point, it won't provide you with the full picture of your water situation in your home. Samples for this testing are taken at the treatment plant, BEFORE the water enters the distribution system and gets to your home. Water can become re-contaminated in the distribution system, and even by your own home's plumbing. Lead being the most infamous example of this. This is why testing a sample taken from the home itself using a certified lab is so vitally important, before making a purchase decision. Without the data to guide you, you may or may not end up buying a product capable of addressing the water needs at hand.
Very helpful/ thanks !
Glad it was helpful!
Another incorrect definition of a product or situation. Government over reach at it's finest. This is a definition of pesticide normal people support. pesticide /pĕs′tĭ-sīd″/ noun A substance or agent used to kill pests, such as unwanted or harmful insects, rodents, or weeds. A substance, usually synthetic although sometimes biological, used to kill or contain the activities of pests. A chemical used to kill pests (as rodents or insects) The gov agencies have been politicized, weaponized and are zealots for expansion of scope, power and size. They redefine that which has been established for their own agendas, causing detriments to those they should be serving in favor of those they should not be serving.
I'm working on a video that explains exactly what happened with Berkey specifically - its so much more complex than most people think. Stay tuned.
There’s an app called Oasis that says Cloud RO doesn’t filter out Haloacetic Acids, Phthalates and Radiologicals. I bought the Cloud and currently waiting for it to ship but after seeing that I’m kind of worried. But I don’t know how trustworthy Oasis is
Never heard of it till now, thanks for the info. They don't provide much info on their testing process with their data gated... you have to pay for it. Sounds fishy to me
Yeah their paywall is fishy. As for Cloud I rewatched your video and I hope it’s just a case of they haven’t gotten around to third party testing for those pollutants since it’s an expensive process.. I don’t know if I should cancel my order and buy Waterdrop instead. What do you think?
@@lailerzzzz As they are a relatively new startup, I'd hazard a guess they've simply not proceeded with certification for additional individual contaminants yet. The Cloud RO geni.us/9ClI8J3 does hold a certification from the NSF to standard 58 for reverse osmosis TDS reduction, which is the most rigorous for this type of system. It's up to you, if certifications for individual contaminants are a priority, Waterdrop G3 geni.us/rQekgwp is certified for fluoride, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, and selenium in addition to 58 for TDS
What about the aqua rain system?
I've not investigated or tested that one yet
@@waterfilterguru do you plan to?
@@hopesmom77 It's on my list from other requests, but it has not yet been prioritized
whats the best u recommend for water hardness
A portable water softener, like one of these geni.us/ntxW3 or the shower stick, but that's more expensive and difficult to use. I'll be making a video about how to soften your shower water with a portable softener soon!
Can you do one on hopopro please
Thanks for your request, I'll add it to the list to look into
Our ancestors would drop a silver dollar in their water barrels to keep the water safe for drinking. It's been used for 100s of years. I trust the silver more than I trust the alphabet agencies. I also use a silver solution as an antibacterial on cuts and have not have one get infected since I started doing that.
I am not contesting the bacteriostatic/ bacteriocidal properties of silver. Rather, explaining how silver is intended to be used in water filters vs the claims made by many manufacturers
@@waterfilterguru What worries me is your research done at the alphabet agencies. The same agencies who have been lying to us about a lot of things for a long time. I don't trust any information from CDC, FDA, EPA, USDA, W.H.O. etc...
humidifier Water needs to be purified
Yes
Any recommendations for a countertop system that significantly reduces chloramines? And micro plastic reduction would also be awesome! Thank you!
Aquatru geni.us/chlQv5o
i know you said its good for city water but what about well water
It depends on the contaminants present and other treatment systems in use. A carbon/KDF filter like this is not capable of treating many of the most common well water issues. Have you had your well tested?
I wonder who he works for?
I work for myself - true freedom baby!
Love the video. I’m not sure if you heard of the company, but Organic Jaguar has a 22 stage shower filter that they claim, eliminates chlorine, heavy metals, microplastics, etc. Now, I tried to find any test results from them, but I haven’t found anything that suggests that their filters do the job. It would be nice if you could test out their filter and see how it compares to the ones mentioned in the video.
Thanks for watching, glad to hear you liked it. I've not heard of that company, but claims of a "22 stage filter" are a big red flag. Brands market their products with XYZ number of filtration stages, relying on the general public's lack of industry knowledge to sell their products. More 'stages' does not make a filter better, and there can't be more than 3 or 4 actual treatment methods taking place in a single inline shower filter.
Frozen Pipes break.
Truth
Here’s the deal, Atrazine is banned it Europe because it is known to chemically castrate people as if a man’s testicles had literally been cut off. Atrazine needs to be banned. What we allow here is banned in many other areas around the world. I wouldn’t trust most of the doctors here especially after 2020.
Tighter regulation of substances that pose risk in drinking water sounds like a great idea. Then we wouldn't have to be responsible for removing these substances ourselves at home.
What mobile / countertop system would you recommend for RO / desalination of pool water (from salt water pool)?
Reverse osmosis or distillation
@@waterfilterguruRO appliance you recommend? Will use your link
@@MrMarylandMike Aquatru countertop RO geni.us/chlQv5o is portable and easy to use, and continues to hold its top position in our data-driven scoring system. If you plan to use this for emergency prep, keep in mind reverse osmosis systems have specific operating parameters (check the user manual of any systems you are considering), and should *not* be used as primary treatment for water that is microbiologically unsafe
How does it compare to the Avalon Bottom Loading Water Cooler Water Dispenser with BioGuard, in terms of effectivities. which one actually filter out better. i dont care about price
Are you referring to this Avalon water dispenser? geni.us/B7m0i If so, you fill large 5 gallon jugs and simply use the Avalon unit to dispense the water. Typically, water refills for these jugs is treated with a multistage reverse osmosis system which provides significantly more thorough contaminant reduction than a simple faucet filter like the PUR
Hi! Any countertop recommendations that filter bacteria/cyst? We have a well and want to take precautions on clean drinking water!
The British Berkefeld Ultra Sterasyl filters geni.us/eiAvEH8 are certified by the NSF to standard 53 for cyst reduction. That said, I'd still also recommend a proper method of disinfection (chemical, UV or boiling) to treat any pathogenic bacteria that may be present.
Reverse osmosis systems put CANCER causing chemicals into the water !! DO NOT USE !!! See RUclips video: "Cancer Causing Chemical Found in reverse Osmosis" by BOS Water for more information.
While one test from one individual may have identified a contaminant added to the water by one reverse osmosis system, from one manufacturer, making blanket statements like this is misinformed and false. Reverse osmosis is the gold standard for drinking water purification.
Hi! Do you still recommend this system over other systems? Why would a water test be needed? Is it to determine if you need additional add-ons?
I recommend a data-driven approach to selecting water treatment equipment. Check out this video where I explain the process step by step: ruclips.net/video/JU4sPer1944/видео.html Water quality varies drastically from place to place, and what might be best for one situation may not be sufficient for another.
@ thank you very much for answering.. just found out about Berkey and I need to do something different.
I have whole house water filters in my garage and I use to use ProPur filters in the stainless steel Berky type containers. What’s weird is PPM tested at my kitchen faucet is about 150 ppm but tested after going through Propur filters it’s almost 200 ppm. Why would filtered water go up in ppm? Looks like something is being added not filtered. So for the past few years I only drink and use distilled water that I make at home.
It's hard to say what is causing an increase in TDS by just using a meter alone. It could be something nefarious or beneficial to health, the problem is you won't know unless you conduct more thorough lab testing. That's one of the drawbacks of using a TDS meter to measure water quality, that it doesn't tell you if water is healthy or not.
'Conspiracy' theories in Science are called working theories. That is, it's a working theory until it is proven one way or the other. Using the tern 'conspiracy' is just a very lazy way of trying to suppress ideas contrary to your own and promoting your own egoic agenda. The fact that fluoride is 'lowering children's IQ' is disgusting and it should certainly be banned on that score alone.
Definition of conspiracy theory from Miriam Webster dictionary: _a theory that explains an event or set of circumstances as the result of a secret plot by usually powerful conspirators._ also : _a theory asserting that a secret of great importance is being kept from the public_ All sources that prove these conspiracy theories referenced in this video false are linked in the description!

Just purchased the x12 based on your review, and the water does indeed taste great!! One issue I’m having is every time you turn it on the water shoots out so fast it splashes water all over the counter. Is this a common problem? And is there any way to fix it? Thank you!
This is not a common problem I'm aware of. Have you reached out to the manufacturer for support? I'd love to hear what they say when you do
@ Thank you for the response! And no, I have not contacted them, yet. But I will tomorrow and keep you posted with their answer.
Bottom line- what should I buy for ~$300 or so? Need me some minerals too. Must be safe. Many have too much plastic.
Are you looking for an under-sink or countertop unit? What is the water source? What contaminants are present that need to be addressed?
@@waterfilterguru Many containments. Source is city. Likely lead and other bad things. Most of US water is bad- see EWG water database. What is your top pick please. In general. Which do you use?

using NSF standards is not the same as actual NSF standards. We've been down this road with other huge brands and found they can't do what they claim which is why they don't have certification. Trusting the company is only good when they back it up otherwise you just become and uniformed consumer aka Brand Loyal.
Yup, this is a common, misleading tactic brands use to sell products. I explain in more detail here ruclips.net/video/pOOvhhrYlpw/видео.htmlsi=fLJjv86inySA1xdY&t=291
You mentioned that the AquaTru has a model that comes with a glass Carafe, but it seems like that would lower the total volume of water that the system could hold at once. If you lived in an apartment with 2 adults and one dog, which AquaTru system would you personally choose if cost weren’t a factor?
The Carafe version geni.us/JZ34mU is indeed slightly smaller, both the clean water pitcher and unfiltered holding tank. Smaller vessels mean more regular filling. If having a glass container for the purified water isnt important to you, I'd recommend just going with the classic model with slightly larger holding volume geni.us/chlQv5o
Many shower filters overstate their ability to treat hard water, which isn’t ideal. The best way to address shower water issues is by combining a shower filter with a portable water softener. You can DIY this setup or look for similar products.
By overstate you mean blatantly lie - so many of these manufacturers either directly or indirectly claim in their marketing that their shower filter is capable of treating hard water. Love your idea of using a portable water softener. I'll make a video to show folks how to use these portable/ RV water softeners to soften shower water!
We use a hydroviv. Might good for a second video!
Thanks for the request! I've got it on the list for when I test more under sink filters
Why don't you do a PPM test on your own first?
PPM is a unit of measurement. Are you referring to testing the TDS (total dissolved solids - which is often measured in PPM)?
Sounds like you got the threat from Berkey and now your back tracking!
Nope, requests from viewers actually. I still don't recommend Berkey for a number of reasons: 1. Refusal to get performance certified to validate their capacity claims 2. EPA stop-sale order makes getting replacements difficult 3. Blatantly lying about their filter performance in order to make sales Overall, multiple sketchy practices that have ultimately lead to the situation the company is currently in.
