    I know this is old but could you tell me what the cab to axle measurement is and bed length

    • @WhackADoRacing
      @WhackADoRacing 4 дня назад

      101 inches cab to wheel center, right around 8.5 feet. 16 foot bed. Relatively short as far as ramp trucks go but in CA there's rarely turning radius and parking as it is so I was happy to end up with a shorter bed and I have a safe amount of bed under the wheels of my cars so it's perfect for me.

    Cool car, some cool hi -tech engines out there now days. But I was star struck by a beautiful Gt-6 at the Portland Roadster Show when I was about 16 years old, that was around 1970 The image of that car has stayed with me all my life. Now I doubt that it was very practical but it was wild ! It was a different time when speed meant a bigger engine, this car was running a mopar 383 v8 and a torque flight tranny. Not a lot of room inside the car as I remember but it was friggin cool😊

      I totally agree, but it's hard to do the work, camera setup, and editing all as one person. 3 days of video and 8 hours of editing with $23 a month software gets 300 views but a 1 minute video on TikTok gets a half million views and doesn't become a hindrance to actually working on the cars sadly.

      When I found them they were on Ebay precut and unbent so they were much cheaper than any I can find now but the seller no longer offers them. Trackspecmotorsports sells a universal version of them but the price is steep for what they are. I didn't have much trouble with install, but I intentionally avoided the under hood bracing to save myself the headache.

    I know this is an older post but I would have carefully strip the back everything clean to the bare frame, salvaging as much as you can and starting over! That is just garbage work they have done and you don't want your name associated with it. And I would be questioning that frame extension! Just my 2 cents.

    • @WhackADoRacing
      @WhackADoRacing Год назад

      Eventually all of the sheet metal was removed other than the top skin and every weld under the truck was checked and either rewelded or extended along with gussets throughout the underside to tie the bed and frame together more entirely along with rewelding and gusseting the frame extensions before moving on to reskinning the exterior, adding work boxes to the sides, and adding the air bags. It was months of undoing the mess underneath while saving what I could. The first order of steel I put back under the bed was already $1,000 due to current material costs, so I had to salvage what I could.

      That sounds like an absolute riot! What a great power plant for the project. I'm not very familiar with the engine packaging size of the BRZ motor but be mindful that the clearance to the end of the hood gets low in a hurry so shove everything as far back as possible and as soon as you can or as frequently as you can, toss the hood back on and check for fender and hood clearance. It gets super tight in there and you don't want to hack more than needed after it's all welded into it's new home

    There are very few classic cars/trucks that should never be "modified". The GT6 isn't one of them. Even if you were to mod. one of those few, I wouldn't hate on ya. I might rib ya a little but hey, we're Gearheads. I'd enjoy the craftsmanship and problem solving. Take a look at the insanity of some Bike Builds. They're not really all that Rideable but the craftsmanship is off the charts. That's why they're built that way. To showcase that craftsmanship. Don't know why people get their panties in a bunch.
