Great video. My father had a barn that he rebuilt. Teaching me how to use hand tools only. Still have his tools but no barn .
Great place and great video! What did they drink in the mornings? If herbal infusions, what exactly? Or was it even beer? 😀

Hello RAMUNI . Again a great video. I really like you explain all so well 🤗👍
Thank you Jens:) Im happy you liked it - keep up the good work with the instruments
Looks like women's work. The men would have been viking or working the fields.
i think thats hard to say. The scandinavian society was very equal in those times. But tar production was most likely done is very large heaps at a time where carefully controlled burning for several days. thanks for watching:)
Nice work. Beautiful scenery! Nice wolf
Thank you. Yes indeed. I surprised facing off with the boars but he jumped away into the thicker brush when i got there
Merci...paix 🌍
You Are most welcome Stephane. Peace:)
Simply beautiful. You have an amazing location for your project.

How long before you're back in action? Enjoying the series!
Thank you. I Hope to be able to work at the site in early spring. I might be able to do some smaller tasks around the House if i get some days with good frost. Otherwise the ground becomes too muddy. But I am still in action. There Will be other videos and other projects in the meantime:) thank for watching and writing
Listening to your accent, I have to ask if you lived in Ireland for a time, because certain words you pronounce sound so much like Irish pronunciations. Some sounded like Dublin, and others like Northern Irish. Or maybe the Norse accents had an influence the modern day Irish accent.
Hello Thomas. thanks for asking:) I did not live in Ireland but I have spend a lot of time in Northern Ireland and I have been playing folk music in Ireland and also in Denmark with Irish musicians alot when I was younger. So i think it rubbed off:)
Is it possible the 4 tooth combinations on the large saw was for amputations?
Its a valid guess. I have not thought of this. Is there something about the filing that goes well with sawing in bone? Thanks for watching and for taking the time to write
Very beautiful, looking forward to seeing you resuming your build in spring. 👍🏻
Thank you. Me too:)
beautiful views. what more can one say.
Thank you. Im glad you feel that way
Thanks for showing the internals of the mill and how many times the wheat kernels have to go through the mill stones.
You Are most welcome. Indeed it is an interesting process. Thanks for watching
hey, how come for your tools you only use wooden sheaths or covers, and not leather, just an observation
There is plenty of evidence of axe, sword and spear sheaths made from wood from the Viking age. And I find a lot of pleasure in making them cafefully to fit and I can spend some good mindful time on it. Hope this answers your question. Thanks for watching and writing
fake nature sounds
@@maaz322 thanks for watching
A slightly irish accent for sure? Probably been asked before, sorry 😅
I spend a lot of a time years back in Northern Ireland and much of my english is indirectly influenced by singing and playing irish music and songs through most of my life with my band.
@@RAMUNI-Viking oh I'd love to hear that

Beautiful footage my friend! Very evocative, and it stirs something deep and primeval inside. I wish you all the best, and look forward to seeing some more videos from the workshop over winter. And was that a raven at 0:25? Someone is watching! 😄
Thank you so much my friend. I actually think it was a rook. There is a few Living in the tall trees a few 100 meters away. But I could also have been a raven. They do fly by once in a while. Stay safe and see you soon
Там был виден зверский зверь! 😊😊😊😊😊😊
I dont think i was in this video:) thanks for watching
I noticed the Raven flying below the drone, moving fast. Then the Ulf, the Hind and the Pecaries. Beautiful scenery around the house site and the wonderful snow. The build will have to wait until Spring, it can. Thanks for keeping me posted friend. Skal!
Yes a few of Them came by why i was flying. I did not notice as they came silently. Luckily they did not bother about the drone. Thanks for watching and im glad you appreciate the wildlife in Winter along with me. Yes i think i need to wait a few months before i can work at the site but I am hoping to be able to hew some logs and prepare some timber a little higher up from the stream where the ground is more dry.
Man.. if humans could just stop hunting and slaughtering animals this world would be such a better place, true nobility would return to our lands.
Beautiful...
@@ilprimario thank you:)
trying to work out your accent.. are you Norwegian living in Ireland? 😅 hope that's not too nosey
@@fion1flatout hello. Its totally fine:) im a dane Living in Denmark but spend a lot of time in Northern Ireland and my english was influenced by playing and singing irish music and songs.
Well that was totally beautiful! And it's good to get a bit of perspective on the building. I always think if you just sit still for a couple of hours in the woods all nature will come to you.
Thanks alot Edwin. Sitting still is the key. Its a good mind excercise too:)
@@RAMUNI-Viking I sometimes fall asleep.

It's fascinating to see all the tools that our ancestors used in the Viking age. 👍🏻

RUclipsr "DF in the shop" made lately one of mästermyr saws. A bit of modern work when making teeth, but otherwise interesting video, if you're interested to watch.
Definately. I Will check it out. Thanks for the recommendation
I personally think the reason saws were so rare during the dark ages up until about 1300 probably has to do with the fact that straight lines can be made an axe and chisel, that and I personally think a lot of them were just turned into knives after a few broken teeth
That is a good guess i believe. I think that could very well be true to some of the saws - they simply became knifes:) thanks for this input and for taking the time to write and watch
