I bought some vanilla blackouts not knowing the difference in skates but after the video I’ve learned that I want to be a rhythm skater what skates should I get instead what is a good skate for rhythm?

I skate custom aluminum hubbed vanguard advantage dual duro from the 90s. Nathan Edwards makes the custom hubs. He also cuts an narrows wheels he did a few sets for me.

SUMMARY: *jam skating* = breakdancing. a lot. *rhythm skating* = basically everything else. and is the umbrella term for it all. (low ankle skates better for jam and mobility. high ankle and heel is good for quick pivots and circles)

I live in a remote, rural area of Eastern WA state, but I am old enough to remember both the peak of dance hall disco (around 1978) and the very peak of rollerdisco (around 1980). We had three rinks in town. Skate King closed sometime in the mid '80s and Skate West closed around the late 1980s. Only the Rollerena remains. We are heavily influenced by California, whose residents relocate here for a cheaper cost of living, so of course skateboarding arose in the 80s and then rollerblading in the 90s. Of course the introduction of farm teams for the WHL/NHL reinforced rollerblading trends with an introduction of an ice rink. Then the rise of women's roller derby in our region in the very late 90s and early 00s brought an outdoor rink in one of the city parks, contributed to activity in the city's skate parks, and most likely was the biggest factor to keeping the Rollerena open. I speak really only for the Columbia Basin region but I did see some similar trends in the Yakima Valley next door, where my wife is from.
