Outdoor Research Tundra Trax Booties! Any Good?
Просмотров 90610 месяцев назад
I have been using these for a about four months now and I do really like them. I never would have bought them for the price. But here are my thoughts if you are interested in getting them.
Nature Hike 800 Fill Down Pants! Any good for $60??
Просмотров 1,9 тыс.10 месяцев назад
I was expecting these pants to be very bad and low quality. I also did not expect them to be warm. I was excited to find out that they are very very warm and are perfect for long cold nights of standing still behind the camera. They are great for being static in the cold.

Arcteryx Proton 4 Years Later! How has it held up?
Просмотров 3,1 тыс.10 месяцев назад
Synthetic insulation jackets are prone to losing loft and breaking quickly. I am happy to show that my proton has been very durable for the past four years and its still quite lofty. It is a very durable jacket, great for high output activities.. as it should be for the price.
Patagonia Nano Air 4 Years Later! Still good??

I love my patagonia nano air, a great jacket for high output activities.
10 Years Later.. Cotopaxi's 16 Liter Bag that cannot break!
Просмотров 1,3 тыс.10 месяцев назад
Here is an update on the cotopaxi batac 16. A bag I have had for a around 10 years now still going strong. I love this bag and I am so happy it has never gotten lost. I have used it for vacations, day trips, beach days, and everything in between. Love this bag
Why I bought the Nuclei SV from Arcteryx
Просмотров 3,2 тыс.11 месяцев назад
Things to consider when buying your own synthetic jacket: - Make sure its sheet insulation - make sure its actually a LOT of insulation, it takes much more synthetic insluation to actually have a warm jacket, many synthetic jackets just dont have that much insulation. - Make sure the quality of the insulation is extremely hydrophobic - How well does the insulation retain its loft? - How heavy i...
Outdoor Research Ferrosi Hoody! I have been wanting something like this for so long!
Просмотров 1,8 тыс.11 месяцев назад
No i have not had a lot of time to wear this guy and test it. However, I have a really good feeling about it. It's super mega durable and is useful for soooo many situations. It is absolutely going to be one of my main pieces of gear for the next long time. Perfect for winter outer layer over a down layer, perfect for warmer areas where you might just wear a fleece under or a merino layer. It's...
Long Term Review of the Decathlon (Simond) -39C Mountaineering Jacket.
Просмотров 6 тыс.11 месяцев назад
Nothing at REI comes close to this in terms of cost and features. It is absolutely amazing what they did here. For a more in depth feature oriented video check out my other one. This is more about how well it does in the cold.
Simond $100 (800 FILL POWER, 150g of DOWN) Ultralight Down Jacket Long Term Review
Просмотров 1,3 тыс.11 месяцев назад
By far the most bang for your buck jacket on the market. Nothing really comes close. Nothing at REI comes anywhere near this. Theres literally no comparison. I have had jackets quadruple the price of this jacket break THE FIRST DAY in use. Maybe it doesn't look the best, maybe its not brand name, but at least you know you can save money and be warm ASF!
TEMP TEST: Simond (DECATHLON) Ultralight Mountaineering Jacket -10C [quick update]
Просмотров 1,2 тыс.11 месяцев назад
This jacket is incredible. I have already made a video detailing this jacket in depth but I had not yet been able to test it in extreme cold. I am happy to say I have finally been able to try this jacket out in some very very cold temperatures and I am blown away with how well it hold up. In -10 deg C with only a tiny merino layer under, I was not even cold! Usually brands advertise temperature...

Some quick informations on why I like my Patagonia sling so much. I think its great and to be honest if I had a different sling I would probably like it too. I saw there were some cool ones from north face as well. But just wanted to share my thoughts after having this for about a year now. I literally use it every day lol not an exaggeration. Only time I don't use it is if I don't go out. So m...

    I don’t like that there‘s no cover for the zipper - like in many winter jackets. It seems to be out of fashion. I think it would be warmer and safer. If you have a cover with velcro, you can close your jacket even with a broken zipper

  • @jtcber
    @jtcber Месяц назад

    What is the manufacture date on your jacket? So you downsize two sizes?

  • @jtcber
    @jtcber Месяц назад

    Should I size down if I am just going to wear a baselayer and maybe a midlayer ? I wear medium in all Arc. I don't think this jacket is waterproof. It will eventually wet out. I assume $400 CAD is what you said. When was that? What is the regular price for this? I am also looking at the Nuclei FL. Is that good enough for Vancouver winter? I was leaning towards the Beta down or thorium sv. I will have to look into this one. Thanks for the video. BTW, Alpha Lightweight Parka and Alpha Parka look similiar but with down.

    I came to refute my impressions Some years ago, like hmm 15 (I don't remember) Decathlon bought Simond. It was a very good French outdoor company, that actually was selling in Decathlon stores before they got it. As a mountain guide, i thought it was the end of Simond quality but far from it. Their backpacks are also epic. Rossignol (sky) and quicksilver (surf) has been producing gear for Decathlon, practically identical gear but with tiny superficial differences. Decathlon has extremely awesome gear for half the price or less. Some stuff is meh quality, but then you have incredibly awesome stuff like the 900 line olaian wetsuits, socks, merino wool.... I may venture to say that any 900 line product in decathlon is worth the try. You can always give it back easily (customer service is ridiculously firendly, in Spain you can use it 60 days amd give it back if you don't like it 😮) Im writing this wearing my Forclaz 900 warm pants from Lofoten (snowstorm tonight) and they're the best pants I ever had... Good bye trangoworld or mmut or meh , you saw my money enough. And they're under 100 euro... Thanks for sharing this video, gonna check the other :) Some ski gear is also invredible, amd overall simond gear is outstanding.

    Agree, proton is their cream of the crop as well as some of their shells. I’d also include the nuclei and Atom lineup as well. Everything else you can find comparable elsewhere cheaper

  • @jastrapper190
    @jastrapper190 2 месяца назад

    Just my opinion… but I don’t think those should be used for “walking”. Primarily you’re going to use them hiking in extreme cold to wear when the main wet footwear is off. So when you are in a tent or a sleeping bag you can have insulation on the feet. They can be worn around camp or to use the restroom but think of them more like a warm dry secondary pair of footwear for tent/sleeping bag. Not as “walking around” footwear.

    It's so big because you ordered a huge size. A medium or large would actually fit you. Arc'teryx is designed to be functional. That is why the sleves are always long and they are cut high under your arm for unrestricted movement. Buying an XL defeats the entire design of this product. I am 6'1" and 185 lbs. I wear a medium.

    You can't blame the lens to be blurry while handholding 1/10 shutters. Anything below 1/100 would mean you have to hold in your breath and time your shutters. Anything around 1/10 is definitely tripod territory

    Great deal for the price -- especially for amateur outdoorists. Probably not the most durable nor feature rich nor made sustainably though as down-filled "puffy" pants and bibs from REI, MEC, Rab, Arcteryx, Marmot, The North Face, Patagonia, Cotopaxi, Fjallraven, Columbia, and the specialized boutique brands.
