Hurricane Helene -Jonesborough,TN-30 Days After the Storm-Crews Still Cleaning up the Destruction
didn't like these when I first got them but after a couple of weeks wearing around town, they have grown to be my favourite shoes.
Thanks for the feedback it really helps others. I always had good luck with Merrill shoes, and their warranty is really good too. Stay well my friend.
How are these for like-30 to -65
Where do you live, Russia? I don't think these are thick enough for severe temp's like that. I would recommend getting some Mukluks. Steger makes good mukluks, and I'm currently wearing Vivo Tundra Mukluks. Stay warm my friend.
You bought it used or new from Craigslist?
Used in like new condition.
Glad I found you..Stay away from Investor Lift. It’s GARBAGE
It looks like the sneaky way for out of state wholesalers to dump a property they have never walked. These out of state wholesalers don't even research the market, they just put anything under contract and hope it sticks. Stay well my friend!
Hi! Did you keep them? And if yes, how are you satisfied? I wonder because I too find them wobbling in my usual Vivo size (which is fine with 10 other models) and I don't know whether to keep them or send them back
ah yes, the width is right for me in 42 Mens (I wear only Mens, since my feet are wider), but they are for higher volume feet than mine
I think it's a nice boot, but I sent them back because they were too wide for my skinny foot. Stay well my friend!
How down do they go in temperatures for keeping your feet warm?
I don't know, I did not like them because they just did not feel durable so I sent them back. They do have the insulation, so I think they will do a fine job keeping your feet warm. stay well my friend.
Can I use them for Boxing?
Well, I shadow box everywhere in whatever shoes I'm wearing, lol! But for boxing, I'd say no. I recommend going barefoot and learning Muay Thai Kick Boxing. Stay well my friend!
@primalpassion Thanks a million brother.
@@NaDal9740 NP man!
Thanks for posting all these organic cotton videos
NP! It's a challenge to find good fitting organic cotton clothing, but it's out there you just have to put in the time and effort to find it. Stay well my friend!
I totally agree with you. The vapor glove 3 is also my favourite barefoot shoe and I just love the way it fits. Bought the Sensus two weeks ago and it's different from the Merrell but equally comfortable. Great video.
Yup, the Vapor glove 3 is a classic. I do like how the Sensus is like a thin leather moccasin. I've done some walking and light trail hiking with it and so far it's held up well. Stay well my friend!
good first impression, but without wearing them daily for at least a few months I feel like the review is quite limited
I would not recommend this boot, other subs have complained the sole will separate after a short time. I only recommend leather vivo's with a stitched on sole. stay well my friend.
How well do they keep water out in rain?
Pretty well if it's a light rain or the grass is wet. If you get caught in a down pour your feet will most likely get wet. If the weather is warm than I walk/hike in sandals. Stay well my friend!
@primalpassion Thanks. I guess that's because the upper has gaps in it which would allow water in. The sole and connection to the upper seems pretty water tight. If vivobf made a gusseted tongue version, that might help. Definitely a: nice to have.
@@rizwan1983 There's really no gaps, the tongue and upper is one piece. Leather naturally does a good job repelling water. If you want to make them waterproof you could treat your boots with olive oil/beeswax or Vivo sells a natural treatment. I quit treating my boots years ago because then the leather will not allow your feet to breathe. I'm also considering Jim Green Boots and may do a review in the future. cheers!
@@primalpassion hey it's good to know that there are no gaps. I wonder if the RA's have a similar tongue design. The Jim Green barefoot rangers seem pretty good, but some reviewers on Amazon seem to have noted that the sole either comes off, or wastes away pretty quickly. I look forward to your review.
@@rizwan1983 If I remember correctly the RA does have a separate tongue, so it would have the gaps. I'm glad you mentioned the sole for Jim Green, I just found some reviews with pics and that's enough for me to not try the boots. This is why I always circle back around to the Vivo Gobi boot. I get a solid 3 plus years out of this boot before the sole wears down. Stay well my friend!
That's healthy and delicious. 😊
Never gets old, and it's simple. Stay well my friend!
I bought those for summer, and it was big mistake, as you said not breathable and really thick canvas material. I should’ve sent them back…
Dang! I wanted these shoes to work so bad, I ordered them twice, lol! And sent them back both times. I really tried to break them in the second time, but no luck. The Gobi Leather sneaker is a nice shoe, but again not enough ventilation for warm weather. I mainly wear sandals in the summer, it's the way to go man! I recommend Bedrock sandals, Toetem, and I will be reviewing Shamma sandals as soon as they show up in my mail box. Stay well my friend!
Would you recommend them for running over primus trail fg? Or rather primus trail fg for running and them for the rest? Is a shoe you do recommend for running over these above?
I recommend running in sandals if the weather is warm. I mainly wear sandals everyday when it's warm: hiking, walking, around town, etc.. Depends on how strong your feet are, if you need a little extra support the Primus trail FG is awesome and the tread is great on the trail, you can even wear that shoe to the gym or around town, and it has mesh panels to let your feet vent. The Asana might be too hot in the summer, but would be great in cooler temp's, and the Primus Lite has mesh panels and will vent very well. the Primus Lite and Asana have a thin urban sole, so you better have strong feet for running in these shoes. Stay well my friend!
Excited For receiving a pair of Ra II tomorrow, are my first Vivo shoes
Awesome! My current favorite shoes are the Gobi Desert boot and the Sensus. If the RA is a bit too small, check out the Gobi Desert boot, it has more toe room. Stay well my friend.
Hiking and bike riding in dress shoes is unheard of lol. Definitely a nice looking shoe though. These might just be my next purchase from them.
If the weather is warm enough I wear sandals, and I quit wearing synthetic shoes and now only wear leather, so my go to shoes are currently the Gobi Desert Boot on colder days and the Sensus for my gym shoe. Stay well my friend.
How have these held up so far? Mine showed up with a slight tear in the leather where it’s glued to the sole in the front of the shoe… they’re VERY comfortable but almost so flexible I question the longevity.
I would consider exchanging for a new pair if there is a tear. Vivo's quality control is terrible, but great return policy. I really like this shoe and wanted to keep it, but I sent it back for 2 reason's: 1. the sock it mainly polyester and I'm trying to avoid polyester because it's a hormone disruptor and 2. the sole is not stitched on, so it could possibly fail at some point. However, I've had really good luck with the Primus shoes in the past and several subs have made positive comments on the Primus Lite lasting along time. Leather is very durable, so I think the shoe should last a couple of years. I thought it was very comfortable and looked good too. cheers!
Personally I'm looking at this as a potential snowboarding boot so i can still have that minimalist feel
I don't really know anything about snowboarding what makes a good snowboarding boot? But I will say this is an excellent hiker, with an aggressive sole and keeps my feet plenty warm. Cheers!
Just found your channel looking for Outerknown Jeans reviews. It's nice to see that I'm not the only weirdo not wearing plastic clothes, doing martial arts (I mostly train jiu-jitsu), going barefoot, eating lots of red meat (although I eat an animal-based diet with lots of fruit and honey for my high activity levels), and riding a bike as much as possible. BTW you mentioned in the OK review video that they didn't use natural dyes. Did you email them to find that out? I've been looking for a company that makes 100% organic cotton jeans without synthetic dyes but it seems impossible to find some that arent wildly expensive. I also prefer to buy as much as I can made in the USA but that also makes things difficult. Guess I'm just a glutton for punishment. Anyways, love the channel, love what you're doing. Keep up the great work.
We are very similar in many ways. I was stoked when I came across OuterKnown clothing because I like their style of clothing. Pants and shorts are the hardest to find because of fit. OK pants and shorts fit me very well and look really good, but I did run into one problem with my pants. No matter how many times I washed them, the blue dye would transfer onto my socks and underwear and most likely my skin, so keep an eye on that. I messaged OK, and they did tell me their dyes are synthetic and didn't have any advice about the dye transfer. I was bummed because I really liked those pants. But thankfully we've still got Patagonia making 100% organic cotton Cords. The only company that I could find that makes 100% organic cotton clothing with 100% organic cotton thread and natural dye is Industry of all nations. The problem is they are super expensive, but their quality and customer service is really good. I really like their pants, but not their shorts and shirts. the shorts are either too tight or too baggy and the shirts are baggy with a boxy fit. But Indigo blue is my favorite color. I've been meat based since 2018, with many periods of time going carnivore. I easily go 3-4 months straight carnivore no problems. I was even carnivore when I was training BJJ, I don't notice much of a difference if I add carb's anymore, but I will eat honey or blue berries once a week. I'm also anti-China and prefer to support the USA or other smaller countries that are Fair Trade. I did a lot of bike riding last summer, and now getting back into winter hiking. We should just make our own clothing company! Stay well my friend!
"If I can't kick somebody in my pants then I don't feel good about life." What a killer sentence hahaha
Good shoe, but the problem I ran into was that the insoles kept slipping to the front of the shoe making it pretty uncomfortable, so I had to remove them, making them go barefoot-max mode, which was a bit overwhelming
This is a common complaint with this shoe and the Gobi Desert boot. Vivo needs to either make a leather or wool insole or no insole at all. When I remove the insole, then the shoe is to big. Thanks for the feedback. Stay well my friend.
All in all, Vivo’s are still my favourite shoes. Out of all of the imperfections, I still have yet to find a better brand. I finally wore a hole through the bottom of my Primus Trails after about 2000 miles. 😊 BTW the merrell Vapor Gloves get holes on the bottom in about 500 miles.
I agree with you. Every time I try to explore new shoe options, I always circle back to Vivo. They do have quality shoes, you just have to inspect the shoes out of the box, and you can't beat their free 100 day trial. I've had really good luck with the Primus Lite and Trail shoes. I currently wear the Gobi Lux, Sensus and Ababa, and highly recommend these shoes. Thanks for your feedback that will help others in search of shoes. Stay well my friend.
2:11 it does? it looks weak as hell to me
I hike everyday in this boot, keeps my toes warm and has excellent traction in the snow. Only time will tell if it's durable. Cheers
My favorite buy from Vivo 🦶
This is a nice boot, but I would prefer if vivo would not put synthetic materials on the lining. I like a good old fashioned leather boot. How long have you had your Magna boot? Cheers!
Hey, thanks for the review. I’m looking for a smart barefoot shoe to go to a funeral with because my old shoes are conventional pointed shoes and I just can’t wear those types of shoes anymore. I also would wear these as smart shoes to go to the pub or restaurant with. Before deciding, I was going to get the Gobi Lux Shoes or RA III Lux shoes, but in the end I opted to buy these in black. Although, the earth tones also look nice… I have a question? Are these shoes true to size or do you recommend buying a smaller size, so they fit with socks on or off? For example, I bought the Gobi Boots and normally I’d buy size 44 EU which is U.K. size 10 but with the GOBI’S I found they were bigger than other Vivobarefoot shoes the same size, so I went a size lower. Purchasing the Gobi Boots in 43 EU which is U.K. size 9. Thanks. Watching your channel from the U.K.
Sorry about the funeral. What Gobi Boots did you buy? This shoe is pretty close to true to size for me, but just a tad short on the length which did not give me enough toe room. They also fit my skinny foot very well, so if you have a wide foot I would not recommend this shoe. I would also recommend trying the Gobi Desert boot, that's my favorite Vivo shoe, it's a tad bigger than this shoe which gives me plenty of toe room, and i can wear thick wool socks in the winter with the Gobi desert boot too. Because Vivo has a free return policy, I always order a couple different styles in a couple different sizes and send back what I don't want. Cheers!
@ Thanks, I appreciate that. I purchased the GOBI BOOT MENS in Black Leather with a black sole. I didn’t realise the RA III LUX MENS shoe is more suited to narrow feet and less so wide feet. I think my feet are more wide than narrow. I suppose when I visit Vivobarefoot store I can still try them on in UK size 9 and 10 with toe socks on and with the insoles in place to see if they fit or not? But I will also try the GOBI LUX MENS Desert boots in black in the same sizes in the store and compare which feels better but based on what you said it sounds like the desert boots will fit my wide feet better. If so, I’m hoping I can wear them with a suit and trousers and for casual smart look when I wear jeans as well.
Cotton laces suck….poly lining sucks.
Stay well my friend.
Thanks for the video! It's nice to see these shoes in actual use and not just shown to camera straight out of the box while talking about them. They look very good. A tip for anyone looking to buy Vivo shoes, look for discount codes online. Discount codes of 20-25% are quite common (at least eligible for use in Europe).
Thanks for the discount codes, it really helps people get a deal. I really did give this shoe a chance, but it's not for me. However I still think it's a quality shoe. Cheers!
It’s deal breaker for me to see a glue residue 😢
I agree. From a company this big, there's no excuse. I'm still a fan of Vivo, but their quality control is garbage. But their 100 day trial with free returns is hard to beat. cheers!
I am on a similar journey though I am not as concerned about outer layers. Just the items touching my skin more. Especially anything I would do manual labor or exercise in. It would be great for those items that you did not get second hand if you provided links. Thanks!
Always good to hear somebody else who wants to wear organic clothing. You've got the right idea, the clothing that touches your skin is the most important. I'll post some links and let you know. thanks-
Great video. Simple and detailed
Awesome! I'm glad it helped you. cheers!
Jim green makes the best insoles I’ve ever used. They’re leather and very high quality. They also have pretty nice barefoot shoes
Good to know! Vivo should also use a leather insole too. I'll consider ordering the Ranger boot. Thanks for the feedback!
was just about to bring up Jim Green but saw you already covered it. The barefoot Rangers and new Troopers are the best natural material barefoot boots I've ever found. I wore a pair of Gobi 2s for about 3 years but the sole eventually wore out and Vivo doesn't offer resoling in the US (for some strange reason) and because they are such a different shape, getting them resoled by a cobbler is expensive and not reliable. Basically they just use toxic glue to attach a new sole to the old one which separates after a few months.
@@marcusa.swanson I'm considering ordering some Jim Green boots and doing a review. Gobi Deset boot is my favortie Vivo, and I get about 2-3 years out of it before the sole wears down. Vivo is starting to Re-sole some shoes in the US but it's not worth it in my opinion. It cost $120 to re-sole, clean up the shoe, add another fake cork insole and use some anti-bacterial cleaner that I don't need. I'd rather just recycle and buy a new pair on sale. Cheers!
So I need the wiring interface for this to work?
Yes. Buy the recommended parts I listed and you are good to go.
What leather shoes are you wearing in the beginning of this video? They look very fitting and comfy. Any additional details would be appreciated.
Vivobarefoot-Ababa. Here's a video review: ruclips.net/video/a767vtEckQU/видео.html

Hey Alice! Hope your feet are feeling better! Happy holidays!
Hi David , happy new year. Could you review the Lono flow S Carbon it has a gorgeous color and design for a gym shoe.
@@gurveshmann5468 hello friend! That shoe comes from Hong Kong, and I'm not interested in it, but it looks like Andrew Folts has a video on this shoe you could check out. Cheers!
I have a pair of lighter color and I love it it’s so comfortable and easy to put on
Thanks for the feedback this helps other people. Out of all the winter boots I tried on, the Gobi Warm lined was the best fitting and most comfortable. I hope they make this boot with wool or cotton lining next year. cheers!
I have a pair of primus lite ii. I used them exclusively for trail walking and they lasted me almost exactly 3 years before my big toe finally broke the bottom. The edges of the sole def ripped but in general it nvr fell off. Most durable shoe I've ever had
Awesome! This is great feedback that will help others. For as thin as the sole is on this shoe, I'd say 3 years is a long life for a trainer. Stay well my friend!
Cool belt :-)
haha! I dig it. It's simple and functional. Thanks again!
Did the subwoofer work?
I don't have a sub in my car.
What rare integrity. Thank you brother
NP. Feel free to ask any questions if you want my opinion on any vivo's. Stay well my friend.
Dude, you do these reviews well !!! and bring value. Appreciated !
Thanks for the feedback, and welcome to my channel!
Nice unboxing and review. Too bad it didn't fit. I'm still on the hunt for the perfect organic toe socks. I ran into Narasocks and they have promise, so I might give them a try and report back. They also have organic hemp leggings... pricey but they look nice. Love your reviews! Thanks for taking the time to post them.
Thanks! I'm making a video of my winter clothes now, should be finished by X-mas, and the next video will be about the socks I'm wearing now. Natural socks are certainly a challenge. I tried some toe socks from amazon, but I don't believe that they were 98% organic cotton. They were also too thin, and a pain in the butt to put on. I just checked out Narasocks and they have some cool things. Their toe socks are 83% merino, and 16% nylon. that should keep your toes warm. I looked into toes socks a couple years back and I also remember people complaining that they don't last long, so I gave up on them? I notice a lot of woman wear leggings, and as a man, I do think they look good, but they are all synthetic/elastic material. That would be cool if you could find some cotton or hemp leggings. From my experience, hemp doesn't really stretch all that much, so I'm not sure if they would be good for leggings? I think a woman could also get away with tight organic cotton joggers and look great. Hope this helps!
Thanks for this. It helped me move forward with the purchase. These shoes look a little wonky from the top view on their website but you helped clear it up right away with the intro. They actually look better here than on the vivo website.
Glad I could help. This is my favorite Primus shoe because it's leather. Cheers!
Problem is there are still a lot of woke people that have no idea how bad this stuff is for you.. they just think its like candy dont eat it because sugar and carbs but not understanding food dyes that cause cancer, dementia, alzheimer's which is type 3 diabetes but most people dont know that!
You are well informed my friend. I'd agree, most people are ignorant to the idea of the toxins in our environment. I understand we can't live a 100% non-toxic life-style, but I do think it's a good idea to think about what we are putting on our skin. Cheers!
Did you keep these ?
No, I did not like them for several reasons: too expensive, the toe strap was too abrasive, and they did not lock my foot down. I could have got past the toe strap because the leather would soften over time, and even if I got them at a better price, I still would not have kept them because they just didn't lock my foot down enough. I'm looking into trying some new sandals for next spring: Earth Runners and Shamma. Cheers!
@ I feel that. The price is hard. The toe strap for me wasn’t an issue, had to get a little creative with the straps to lock my foot down honestly if they were priced lower id keep mine but having owned multiple Shammas. I keep going back to those
@@DJSixAxiS What Shamma's do you own and recommend?
@ my favorite is the chargers. I also have a set of warriors, and trailstars which are very secure and comfortable I want to try the numas.
@@DJSixAxiS I would like to try the Elite Warriors and the Super Browns. What's your opinion on the Charger sole vs Warrior sole? Do you hike in the Chargers?
They're begging for some leather conditioner!
lol! It would make look much better, but I quit conditioning my leather shoes years ago, unless they get super wet from rain and dry out. The leather is super soft, and I'd prefer not to put any toxic chemicals on my shoe if it's not necessary. I use to use coconut oil or olive oil, but even that can get rancid. My sweaty feet keep the inside conditioned quite well. Cheers!
I ordered the red tag Ababa (version 1) 5 or 6 years ago. They were cheaper and fit me perfectly but they weren't my style at the time. Now i just ordered another pair in the tan tag (version 2) and theyre tight on the top of my foot with socks. Without socks is ok but not great. Are you in the US? I got mine off of revivo and it was the last pair. Kicking myself for not keeping the 1st pair years ago
Good eye! I didn't even notice the tag difference. That explains why the red tag pair fit me better. Well dang, if the new style doesn't fit me, I might have to find a new slipper. Yes, I'm in the USA. Where are you from? Welcome to my channel!
@primalpassion I mostly noticed because they were labeled as Ababa 2 on the website. I'm also in the US, just wondering if these were gonna come back on the main Vivo site any time soon. Really enjoying your videos. I'm giving Vivo a 2nd chance but I may be staying with Freet. They fit me better and aren't so darn expensive.
@@rachelroot2913 The Ababa will be back on the Vivo site when they are back in stock, and even Vivo never knows. You just have to keep checking back. I've never tried Freet before. Looks like they've got a leather boot that is similar to the Gobi Desert boot. I really only recommend the leather Vivo's with a stitched on sole. Other than the Ababa, I'm currently wearing the Gobi Lux, Sensus and Tundra. I really like the Gobi Premium Leather shoe too, I'm just waiting for my size to be in stock. Hope this helps! And thanks for the positive feedback, it motivates me to keep making content. Cheers!
I am wondering why the sole isn’t mentioned as an synthetic issue touching the skin in this review. Just because it’s not polyester right?
Good point, I really didn't think of it, but I'm sure the sole is a synthetic rubber, but no sure? Hopefully they come out with a new Ababa with a natural rubber sole.
@@primalpassion but the footbed is leather so… 👍 The sole only maters to those you’re walking over 😂
@@kbuzbee Dude, you're funny!
I looked at Vivo's website to try to see what the upper is made of but couldn't determine it from what they said. It would be nice for them to say that there is not some type of PFAS treatment on it.
@@greenleaf239 Yes, some of the material informations are not as clear and transparent as they should be.
I wish they were more specific too. They seem to use a lot of different synthetic materials such as Polyester, Hot melt, PET, Nylon, polyurethane, etc... So it's hard to tell what the mesh membrane is made of? I hate these nasty chemicals, but the liner is 100% wool, and the membrane is not touching my skin so I'm ok with that. I think the best winter boots are the true mukluks made by indigenous people. I've tried to find some authentic mukluks on ebay, but they never have my size. Steger makes great mukluks but they use polyester lining. Always good to see others are trying to avoid synthetic materials too! Good luck!
They are just beautiful. I have been using "xero shoes hana" at work but after 3 years they have definitely seen better days, so I'm changing to Ababa.
@vivobarefoot Please give us a waterproof version of a hiking and chelsea boot with this wonderful ESC sole! And I totally agree: Skip the synthetic harmful materials us much as you can, please! 🙏🏻
A Chelsea boot with this sole would be a killer hiking boot! I would like a Gobi Desert Boot with a stitched on FG sole or this ESC sole. I did read somewhere that Vivo is coming out with new boots next year and if I read the list correctly it said they are coming out with a hiking version of the desert boot. The thing about this company is they are constantly making new footwear and trying to improve. Cheers!
@ Exciting! Would you wait buying a tracker or magna esc with this information in mind?
@@grueneauen Maybe, I have a couple of video's about both boots. I was excited because they both fit me well, but I noticed both boots have synthetic materials on the inside of the boot. They tried to be fancy and put some membrane crap in the lining. The boots would have been just fine with a 100% natural leather upper. You might like the new Gobi boots, they have a 100% leather upper. This is the main reason I've stayed with the Gobi Desert boot, because it has 100% leather upper and has been a durable boot for me. Hope this helps!
@@primalpassion The thing is I need a proper and comfortable sole for hiking. I compared the new AT with the ESC version and the ESC is far better in my eyes. And I like the soft letter. But I miss a waterproof membrane. And yes: Why synthetic fabrics in a ESC boot? I will try the the winter tracker. I also come with polyester fabric but at least is waterproof. But not sure about the sole, seems not to be as rugged as the ESC.
@@grueneauen The soft taro leather on the ESC is so nice! I was excited about that boot when I tried it on. The ESC sole is very good for rough terrain. I tried out the Tundra today on a rocky and slippery trail and it handled very well. Almost impossible to find a winter boot without polyester lining. At the end of the day we just have to do our best.
