A star is born

As much as I love her playing (generally), I'll admit I've lost some interest. She's often compared to Yuja Wang, and rightly so. They both operate at a stratospheric level of virtuosity. But whereas you can come on RUclips all the time and find Wang playing some piece you've never heard her play before, it seems like Buniatishvili has actually cut her repertoire down to a handful of pieces. For instance, when was the last time you heard of her play anything but the Tchaikovsky #1 with an orchestra? (The current selection was some years ago.) Of course, there are some things we have to take into consideration. She has a new baby. Undoubtedly, that consumes a lot of her time. Also, it has not been uncommon for past greats to slow down and even stop performing for a while, then come roaring back a few years later better than ever. So, who knows? All that said, I'll always be a fan.

Our great pianist seems to follow the fashion of Yuja Wang.

Thanks for the video. I have to say that is by far the strangest.. and rudest audience I’ve ever witnessed. The baby I can understand. But the rest is truly bizarre. As to this 3rd movement…. This music can really survive this tempo. That’s all I’ll say.
