I just watched your video today, 3 years after you posted it. I really liked the effort you put into your Welding table. I've been researching building a good welding table, for home use, and have been leaning more towards using plates like what you fabricated. Good job! I'm from the USA (Wisconsin).

Just a thought on an older video. I don't know about the larger motor but the smaller motor has adjustable plates in the two ends. The movement of the plates allows you to get more or less agitation as you need. Just wondering if you tried adjusting them.

To clarify for everyone. I bought this lathe new from Wabeco and it came with a knurled bearing seat from factory. It's also not just my lathe I have seen another video where someone replaces their lathe spindle with a camlock version and I can see that spindle also had a knurled seat.

You say to put a relief between all of the cutting edges, just curious why its necessary, is it a limitation of the D bit grinder? And do you know how the professionals would be able to achieve it?

10:20 Off topic but I love nature. Man is intently demonstrating knowledge. Man's dog barks; alerting the pack to a potential threat. Man stops demonstration, evaluates the threat, determines risk low, and continues demonstration. All this in less than a second. Beautiful.

*3 REQUESTS:* Make a video showing the table's flatness (testing w shims)..? Always show the complete machining of parts (use time lapse if necessary). Should've ran the parts on a surface grinder to perfection afterwards.

I've always wanted to see a universal cutter/grinder in operation. Interesting. I use a Darex which has a air bearing spindle for sharpening the flutes. Both machines pretty much do the same thing.

Hello Projects Down Under. I haven't watched your other videos yet and the answer might be there, but could I ask, are you the original owner of this lathe? Can we be sure the knurling on the spindle was done at the factory and with the knowledge of Wabeco's management? I noted in one of your replies to a comment that you've seen this knurling on another Wabeco spindle, which is quite telling but still not conclusive. I'd really like to get to the bottom of this. @devinmoodley4061 wrote in a comment that he asked Wabeco for clarification on this. Was there an answer you can share Devin? Regards, Rick.

Hi, I see this is an old video & I'm sure you've realised by now but you've misunderstood Luc's explanation. The measurement you quote as 2.4 to 3 times the drill size is to what Luc calls the "cone intersect". The cone being the 12mm pin that goes in the collet (his not so good English) & is way different from the distance between the drill tip and the fixture, & depends on a few factors. Luc produced a .pdf of Excel tables for this which are available on a link on his video.

This is a pretty solid little workbench. While once you figure out how it comes together, it is physically Easy to assemble ruclips.net/user/postUgkxyFZUPFEey-PuqsPMxqaykBhgA1LWxFHh by yourself. But the diagrams explaining the steps are really pretty bad. I could not get the handle pins in all the way despite multiple attempts, so I just used a screw I had on hand for the 2nd handle. I could not get the first pin in further or pull it back out. You are supposed to hammer it in, but I had no leverage and the handle is plastic and I did not want to risk breaking it. I will get a lot of use out of the bench because of the convenient size and height. It does fold up nicely for storage. They even explain how to fold it so you don't get pinched...that is important!

I think maybe you should remove "precision " from the title purely because this isn't a precision build ,it's a "welding" table . If you can lay your hands on a large precision straight edge you'll know what I'm getting at . Way to many clickbait titles on YT nowadays. Look up Fireball tools and look for his precision table build ,"that's a precision table".

Very impressive!! Did you make the custom cutter for sharpening the sides of the flutes or was that item purchased somewhere? I don't think that is standard equipment when one buys a D-Bit grinder is it? Thanks for the lesson!
