what would I use if I already have existing metal poles from an old chain link fence I want to use. Do you have something that can slide over them?
Just me personally; but if I lived in a high wind area, I might devise some method of keeping the boards from resting right on top of each other. A 6' high total windbreak might be asking for trouble someday. But if there were a narrow space between each horizontal board, that could allow just enough wind through to alleviate stress.
You need to have a string line or you will have a not straight fence
How much it cost? I mean one 6’ x 6’
What size screws do I need for the 12’ aluminum posts
All of the screws to fasten the top and bottom rails to the side channels and the side channels to the posts are included in the Slipfence Horizontal Composite panel kit.
The screws were not included in my kit, could you please tell me which ones I need so I can continue with the project? Thank you

How thick is that deck board
Hi, the deck board is what is called a 5/4. (five-quarter), but it is actually 1" thick. Dont buy 1x 6 fence boards as those are only 5/8" thin. The horizontal system uses 5/4 Deck boards. The vertical system uses Fence pickets. Hope that helps.
@@slipfence Oh wow thank you for the info! Yes it was very helpful and the video was awesome!
On my instructions in the box, it says to subtract 1.5" not 1.25" from the width of the gap. Wish I could find an explanation for the discrepancy.
Both will work but 1.5" is safer just allowing for minor pull on squareness over the years if at all. 1.25" leaves less room for any gate movement.
JUST 6 FT?????NOT THAT IS NOT NOT PRIVACY. 😮😮😮😮
I do not see reviews for this fence anywhere. Would love to hear from someone that purchased Slipfence for their home. Looking for privacy for our patio. Appreciate any feedback from anyone. Great video. Seems pretty easy to install.
I plan on doing this fencing this Summer. Looks killer. So much nicer than a normal fence.
Hhmm why are they cgi ing dewalt bruh lol
No brackets are labeled H and it would be helpful for in swing and out swing tips
Any way to set up so that people can't see in at certain angles?
Have a look at the Slipfence Traditional too. With this system you can still build a vertical style fence but can build it completely 100% private by using 2 x 4 rails instead of the Slipfence Vertical Stingers that creat a shadowbox style fence. It still has the all aluminum posts so will stay straight and plumb. And also, once you set the Slipfence posts you can create any number of fence designs with any of the Slipfence systems. Vertical, Horizontal, Composite, Traditional etc.
The video is great. We are a fence hinge company from China. Please accept my sincerest wishes. If you want to know more about fence hinges, please contact me.
If I already have wood posts , Can I use them?
It is not recommended to use old wood posts with the Slipfence system. The Aluminum posts are the backbone of your new fence and will stay straight true and plumb. Wood posts eventually rot and warp, bow, and crack along the way. Build it once, build it right an it will stand the test of time.
detailed and professional!~
Excellent video. However, if setting this fence on concrete, as in your video, what did you use to secure the uprights to the concrete that will be strong enough to withstand wind and wear?
Hi, Slipfence has a 6 foot high plated post with pre-drilled holes for anchors. This is a surface mount post and we also supply the anchors to either anchor to concrete or wood. SF2-PP376. is the product code.
will the concrete corrode the aluminum posts?
You moron the posts are to be plumb not level.
What's the best way to cut them to length after setting them, portable band saw, reciprocating saw, circular saw, angle grinder, ? ?
a cordless circular saw with a new non-ferrous aluminum blade is how we do it, although you have to cut one side of the post and then go to the other side of the fence and cut the other half of the post as the blade wont make it all the way through. Reciprocating saw tends to bounce all over the place and not cut straight. Grinder is the same, you will likely need to do both sides of the post so the circ saw is quicker.
@@TahoeProductsGroupIncThanks. I'll give that a try.
Is there a purpose for the square holes on each side of the rail bracket?
That is an excellent question. Yes, the purpose of the holes on the sides of the bracket are so that you can screw the first fence board that is against the post into the 2 x 4 that the bracket is holding.
The reason we made it that size is so you can do it quickly and not be fighting to find a needle hole in the bracket.
If you watch the instructional video above, at minute 3:30 it explains the purpose of the hole in the side of the bracket. Thank you for the question and please dont hesitate to ask more as you build your Slipfence. We are here to help.
@@TahoeProductsGroupIncCool! Thanks! I missed that!
Normally one screws or nails bracing to a wood 4x4 post to ensure it's plumb until the concrete anchor dries. The video doesn't do that... why? Or how does one secure temporary bracing?
TY ‘ THE VIDEO IVE BEEN LOOKING FOR !! yes!!!
Can you buy the metal slides at Lowe’s
When is a post ever level?
I'm from Calgary, AB. I purchased 3 - 9ft posts and 2 - 8ft stringer kits at Home Depot. This cost me almost $800! After watching some other DIY fence videos I decided the price for a Slipfence system is ridiculous and a complete rip off. If your a millionaire then a slipfence system is not a bad idea I suppose.
Slipfence was not developed to be cheap. It was created primarily to last and to solve the pain in having to pull and reset warped, rotted, twisted wood posts. It is designed and manufactured in Canada, and unfortunately aluminum is much more expensive than wood. You should have kept your order and built it before commenting negatively.
@@slipfence Yeah well I forgot to mention that the 3 poles & stringer kits does not include the wood! So I've spent $800 before having to spend money on fence pickets. But your right .... the slipfence certainly is not cheap!
Does Slipfence have a 4 foot "modern ranch rail" fence kit? I'm looking for metal fence posts that will accommodate 2x6 horizontal boards and allow me to only have 3 spaced horizontal boards with black chain link rather than a privacy fence.
I would love to do this for my front and backyard
You wont be disappointed and should never need to set posts again. When the wood starts to wether and grey, simply slip out the old wood and slip in new wood but the framework stays
wanted to see how the thumb lever is installed
Hi, there is Thumb Latch instructions inside the package but if you look at any video with this thumb latch style they are all very similar.
Where can I get this set-up?
Thousands of dollars though. Wood prices are ridiculous.
How bad would an 8ft length board look horizontally… trying to save some money thanks.
The problem with going 8 feet wide on the horizontal is the boards tend to warp substantially at that length.
How would you do this type of fancing on a slope?
hi Ramiz, At around minute 2:36 the instructional video here shows you how to accommodate the horizontal fence on a sloped property.

What do you do about the gap at bottom? Thanks
Hi Todd, The fence is not supposed to sit on the ground as that creates moisture and rot in the wood. The fence should sit 1" to 2" off the ground so that the fence can "empty" out the bottom after rainfall.
can these be cut to 4 ft tall and do they have to be always 6ft apart or can it vary ( less) ?
Yes and Yes
Es muy fácil acerlo con computadora muéstranos como acerlo tu en persona espero tu respuesta
Is there a post you could make a 120 degree angle with?
The poles are 100” long for a 6 ft fence can only go in ground two ft to have 76” above ground 3ft in ground for a 5 ft fence ! Video is misleading on depth of post holes

How'd it go
Man thats nice
Note to future viewers: Do NOT use the measurements in this video. Use the measurements on the paper instructions. And you don't need two 2x4x8s, only one.
if you have a 6ft fence how will one 2x4x8 be enough? You better go back to pre-k
I just installed this and it looks great. I used cedar boards. Was I supposed to leave gaps between the boards for expansion? It does not sat to do so.
Hi Scott, No you don't leave gaps for expansion. The wood boards will shrink over the next 4-5 weeks and as such will leave gaps and the reason for the 4-week shrinking period before you screw all boards into the channels.
@@slipfence So no cause for concern for possible expansion?
At the cost of lumber the fence gonna cost more than the house
What is the extra 2x4x8 for? The video only uses one but I bought two.
do your math and explain why you would think you can frame a 6ft gate with only one 2x4x8
@slipfence are there any known issues for using 12 ft decking board in lieu of 6ft decking boards?
omg i love fences and now I get to offer my clients a slipfence system :D $$$$ noticed you have solutions for not just 90 degree turns
This wouldn't work if you do not have access to the other side of the fence. Like my neighbors are going to let me come into their yards to run screws in my fence.
The cap rails are included with the posts and channels ? Thank you
