    I’ve been trying to decide whether I want diesel pusher or I wanted a gas RV. I’m not sure I am still doing my research and I am leaning towards gas now as there is more and more regulations coming out against diesel pushers especially the older ones in California. I’m also retired and it will just be me and two dogs so maybe a gasRV is just what I need. I don’t need a slide out as it’s only one me. I really enjoyed your video. Thank you for the information.

      @@HealthyVeganLiving you are more than welcome! We love our gasser. I think I mentioned we had a not-so-great experience with a diesel so we are all in on the gas MH. I've rented and driven a Class A motorhome and a Class B camper van, and both of them were unpleasantly noisy compared to driving a car. If I ever own an RV I figure I'll have to do a lot of sound deadening work on it to make it a comfortable mode of travel. It would've been nice if this video had included actual noise level measurements. There are apps on that for your phone.

Since I installed my demco stay and play I know demco instuctions indicate the need for the demco to have it's own ground which means the tow light wiring has its own ground as well and there are blocking diodes needed on the positive tail light wiring. Thanks for sharing how you hooked this up under the sink! Could you please clarify two things, using your set-up: 1) Does the dishwasher automatically pull the water it needs through the hose when you start a cycle? 2) Where did you connect the drain from the dishwasher -- does it need to be lower than the actual dishwasher for gravity to help the water drain out of it?

    • @2RR
      @2RR 3 месяца назад

      Answer to 1.) Yes. Answer to 2.) Derrick connected the drain hose above the dishwasher and it pumps it out. If we could have connected it below, that would probably be preferable. But that wasn't an option for this install. It's worked fine. It will be interesting to see how everything works when we get back! Thanks for stopping by!

    We have been living FT in an older gas motorhome for the last 5 years and love it. We're retired and not in a hurry to go anywhere, so don't mind it slowing way down climbing mountains. We've traveled all over the Rockies, up and down some pretty steep grades pulling our little toad with no problems. We're boondockers who travel with full tanks, which puts us near our weight limit too. Though the engine braking of a diesel going down steep grades works far better than shifting to L2 on our gasser does, so expect to go slow on the downgrades too, or pull over on long steep grades to let your brakes cool without this useful feature. Remember that you can go down the mountain too slow a thousand times, but you can go down too fast only once. Other than that, we find gassers much cheaper to own and operate. Our rig has proven to be very reliable and hasn't seen the inside of a shop since we went FT. We have not had any drive train problems at all with our coach since we've had it - just routine maintenance that we do ourselves for a fraction of what a diesel shop charges for the same service. F-53's have soft, squishy handling and are blown around quite a bit by passing big rigs and while going through mountain passes with strong side winds - much more than a heavy DP. We replaced our aging rubber sway arm bushings with stiff neoprene ones and did the Cheap Handling Fix, which improved our coach's handling immensely. There are other things you can do to help too, like adding heavier sway bars, steering stabilizers, trac bars, better shocks, sumo springs, etc. We didn't need to do any of these things on ours, as it has a tag axle that makes it more stable, but others find that doing some of these upgrades make driving their MH safer and more enjoyable. Another advantage a gas coach has is it's much lighter. If you're a boondocker like we are this is important, especially when traveling down muddy, rutted forest service roads or across grassy fields, sand washes and beaches. A heavy, 40,000+lb diesel coach would surely get stuck going many of the places we go on a regular basis in our 22,000 lb gasser. Earlier today I passed a DP who had pulled on the shoulder of the road and got stuck in the soft sandy shoulder. This is far less likely to happen with a lighter gasser.

    Nice! Did you find that you needed a zip tie in the middle on the front edge of the tread?

      No. The four zip ties on the ends have kept it nice and flat on all of the steps. Great question! Thanks for stopping by!

    Going down steep hills I enjoy our engine brake on our 2003 Newmar Dutch Star diesel pusher. No DEF no DPF and so quiet up front we can't even hear it. Also no dog house to step over or around in the driver compartment. Maintenance is more expensive. When we looked originally there was No Ford dealers who would work on a Motorhome chassis within 90-100 miles. There was a chevy dealer that had a great shop that worked on RVs no problem only 2 miles from our home but we were looking for a ford or a diesel pusher chassis. Safe travels, and thanks for posting.

      Awesome. We considered a Newmar before we settled on the Tiffin. It’s a great motorhome. Thanks for stopping by and safe travels to you too!
