Just the intro already saying why Thailand is winning. If one want to go somewhere leaving same western medieval style building and concrete forest for that been living in for ages to visit somewhere safe in Asia. Then Thailand is the top choice and it represented whole Asia as a whole. There is Japan of course but Japan oftening very safe and city life style but they still not as welcoming as Thailand outside of main major City. China would be too much trouble as well and you should know why then Thailand is very much only choice there is. There also pricing of goods despite Japan is improving for tourism but one would find it lacking other activity or hard to get into as foreigner. Of corse some people don't have issue with pricing and would prefer Japan more too but both place are exotic for sure.
