One of the few black soldiers that I have seen on any World War II footage.

Units of the " Panzer Lehr Division" were amongst them.

All the WWII soldiers, including my Dad and my wife's Dad, are all passed on to be with their brothers and sisters in the loving arms of Jesus. Their service needs to be appreciated by this generation. Some served in the Korean War and they need to be honored as well.

My father was a tank driver in the 2nd Armored Div. He received 4 Bronze Stars for 4 different campaigns. Enjoyed the video. Thanks

Sadly General Rose would be killed in combat some two week after this. Rose was among a handful of US Army generals killed in action in WW2.

During World War II the area was bombed by Allied forces, killing 200 people on 25 April 1945. The town centre with many hospitals and the train station was nearly totally destroyed; the barracks did not suffer any damage. After the war the area was under American military governance (1945-1948).

My Dad Joseph Paul May was in the 261st Infrantry regiment, part of 65th Infantry Division. Did anyone know him? I have a list of battles he was in that he typed shortly after.

Those views are taken on the Plougastel-Daoulas peninsula , south-east of Brest , you see the Albert Louppe bridge on the Elorn river.

My father was in the 12th. He was a combat engineer in the 119th.

My dad was an 8-year-old boy at the time, living a few miles away from where this footage was filmed. He was born and raised in Nuremberg.

The 89th was a part of FIRST ARMY 💪🏼 under Hodges not Patton.

My late great uncle was a master sergeant in the 2nd squad (24th). Among his bring backs was the flag that flew over the post office in Cologne, which I still have to this day. I was the only one in the family he would speak to about his experience, and only then the bare minimum and only because as a child, I asked him all the time. But he would give me things to feed my quest for knowledge about WW2 and his service. Thank you for posting this. 👍

Based on the date, this footage was taken shortly before the 8th was sent to the incomprehensibly hellish (and ultimately failed ) battle of the Hurtgen Forest in November, followed by a short respite in Luxembourg before being called back into action to help defeat the Nazis at the Battle of the Bulge.

My Uncle John Paulow was a SGT. and spoke Russian for them. I still have the regimental book
