    Wind & Wuthering, "Phil wanted more synths, drums & guitars", "Yeah Phil really did take over creatively on this one", Really? This is a Tony heavy album, Phil had very little influence on the direction at this point, and if you knew anything about this band you would know this.

    For me its in this order. I first heard Supper's Ready in a garage party in 1974. I was 12 yr kid with all my older brother's friend and they were smoking weed laced with paraquat? Playing Yes and King Crimson. I snuck in they never saw me the stoners hahaha Long Live Genesis!! “The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway” (1974) .“Selling England by the Pound” (1973) “A Trick of the Tail” (1976) “Nursery Cryme” (1971) “Foxtrot” (1972) “Duke” (1980) "Wind & Wuthering (1976)

    I only recently discovered Starcastle. I have loved Yes for decades and the similarities are undeniable....but I don't care. I really like them and have bought the first two albums on LP. So far I would place the debut ahead of the second album but that could change as the latter grows on me more. I am tossing up whether I will buy Citadel but it's that 'flirting with' a different sound that I'm baulking at. I quite like the much later CD too but wish it was on LP.

    So Starcastle puts out three albums and gets criticized for sounding too much like Yes. Like any musicians that take pride in their music, it bothers them to be labelled a clone of another band, so for their fourth album they decide to end the Yes comparison by putting out songs that sound nothing like Yes, even going so far as to have an album cover that looks nothing like a Yes album cover. And what happens? Their album gets slammed for not sounding like their previous albums. I tell ya, sometimes you just can't win.

    "what year were you born? 95?" "96..." Conclusion: Ramones are stupid and album art sucks. Ranking shit you don't like or understand, as though you grasp it is nonsensical, to put it nicely. Dude on right keeps misnaming tunes, left guy hates everything.. They don't get it. Road to ruin; Tommy's last, Marky produced? That's enough. Spector's in jail too..

    I absolutely love Nova, not a typical song for them or anyone else either. But not enough to push it past Fountains. I predicted the your order, but could see some uncertainty for 1 vs 2, maybe even 3 vs. 4. You're too kind to Reel. I thought they looked weird even at the time, but it's good to know who you're listening to anyway.

    Starcastle had some of the very BEST harmonizing vocals EVER!

  • @bumpdunlop
    @bumpdunlop Год назад

    My band used to rehearse around the corner from Starcastle's house and basement practice room in Urbana. Actually they were the four piece Mad John Fever, before Matt and Terry joined. That is when we visited their practice while they were writing Lady of the Lake! After the breakup of their band Sea Daddy Terry and Matt joined. I heard Mad John Fever one time as a six piece with Matt and Terry. The only song I remember them doing was Led Zep's Whole Lotta Lovin'. On the breakdown in the middle of the song all six guys played percussion instruments! An interseting thing about the addition of Terry and Matt can be heard on their first album. One of the Steve's, can't remember which one told me if you listen to the first album you can tell which ones were written befor Terry joined. The earlier songs were all harmony vocals, no individual lead vocal parts. If you hear a lead vocal part for Terry, it was a song written afterwards. I never noticed, but sure enough, you can tell. I met Matt and Gary in 1970, became friends with both. Matt played with our band 2009- 2015. Sorry not a Prog band

    I'm probably twice your ages and saw the Ramones over 30 times and agree with most of your rankings, but I have Rocket to Russia first. Leave home second. Ramones first album third. Leave home and The first album are so different. The production on Leave home is 1000 times better.

I don't appreciate how critical the guy on the left is about all these little things , critiquing road to ruin!! ahhhhh as if he can begin to understand what makes this band great. boooo go listen to hail to the thief.

    I have SCOURED RUclips for anyone who has ANYTHING nice to say about The Ramones. It’s few and far between. Heartbreaking. You guys sound like you’re talking about football, and that’s sort of the problem. If you guys think this way, like if that’s the only way your brain works, you aren’t punks and you’ll Never understand it. Also, if they sound cliche to you, it’s bc THEY INVENTED THE FUCKING GENRE. Sorry you don’t have to have an extra sheet of paper to do the sheet music. I think people like Joe Satriani spoiled rock and roll for type A people like yourselves, bc it made you focus too much on technical proficiency, negating the entire point of the genre.

  • @markthefuzz9321
    @markthefuzz9321 Год назад

    Definitely wrong with a lot of facts. I’d recommend Marky Ramone’s autobiography which tells mostly everything that happened during album recording and touring. According to him, Phil Spector had guns, but never pulled it on them. He got verbal and was a lunatic toward Johnny and Dee Dee, but no guns were drawn. Road To Ruin was also produced by Tommy and drums were handled by Marky. Also CJ had no hand in the songwriting, because they used most of Dee Dee’s remaining songs for most of the late 80s and early 90s. It kind of helps to do some research than talk out your ass when having these discussions.
