Dave's Classic Garage Tours
Австралия
Добавлен 6 июн 2022
- Classic cars as well as vintage, veteran and RADwood cars from the vantage point of the mechanics, technicians, panel beaters and painters that work to keep our motoring heritage on the road.
In this episode ....
Two videos a week featuring cars from the veteran to RADwood eras, including car restoration, rebuilds, repairs and restomods to anything from Aussie & American muscle cars, Euro exotics, JDM, your coveted everyday runabout and more. If it's built before 1999, I'm interested.
My name is Dave and I simply l love classic cars and visiting garages and workshops to chat to the people working on them. I also devour car content on youtube so I thought I'd join in and make some myself. Hopefully you might like to come along for the journey as well.

can we put this on a Boxster frame
I believe it will fit with some adjustments but the braketry has not been designed or developed for the Boxter
I like the early falcons but damn there’s so many replicas out there that’s it’s just not funny! And yet another one.
How do you pick a replica in a lineup?
Any Classic Car's showroom Video's Must
The only bad thing is that the steering wheel is on the wrong side.
Not a problem. The kit can be bought for an MR2, easily found in the US where I’m guessing you’re based.
Yeah .... holy shit .... classic.... wa ,ha,wa holy shit .... love it ..... kind regards Australia 🇦🇺
Cheers mate.
🤙
I’ve have many black cars and I have learnt to never touch the paint, never lean on the car. Ceramic coat paint work. 2 bucket wash and Bowden’s fully slick after every wash. That keeps the dust from sticking to it. If the owner drives from Victoria to Mount Isa the paint will have stone chips galore. IMO, best to enclose trailer it.
Why? He likes to drive his cars. They are not garage queens.
When Henry Ford produced the Model T it only came in black come full circle then .😅
Seems so
So cool subbed😊
Thanks Jeffrey.
its a car thats not used a lot ,and being a replica, means its never going up in value it will always be worth 100 k all day long , would not waste the money full stop ,even though its a great restoration ,restorations should be for original cars back to original conditional .
This car will be used A LOT. This bloke is obviously no mug, he’s done his homework and he’s going to get a better car than the original at a fraction of the cost and it’s one he can use. Did you watch until the end? Anyway, What concern is it of yours what someone else spends their hard earned on?
300 gtho made and only 3000 still in existence, when are falcon owners going to become original
Says the man quoting the oldest cliche in the Australian motor scene.
I would love to know how much a resto like this costs?
A few bob I’d dare say.
Howard’s instruments west Heidelberg
I’d like to film there one day.
Great build and a lot of good work but for once I'd like to see someone not turn one of these into another GT clone, Craig Parker's red one was done well in the 90's. thew "forged' XY built by Pats restos in QLD was good, but no street car,
Personally, I’d love to see a base or taxi spec 500 being given the Grand Tourer treatment, either a full resto or sympathetic clean up and mechanical overhaul of an original car. That’s takes a special kind of person though as most will see there’s probably not the value in the end product to justify the outlay. We’ll keep our fingers crossed though.
Wonderful video Dave. Thank you for sharing it. Please let Dan know that we appreciate the time he gives you for the videos. Maybe Dan may visit California one of these days check out some mustangs we have in this area.
Thanks Kerry and I’m sure Dan will be reading the comments. He’s had a hand in a few Mustang restorations in his time and you might remember there’s one lurking under the covers in the shop right now. Back to factory look which’ll probably make a few US viewers teeth itch when they see the overspray.
Thanks Kerry. We all enjoy making these videos for you all to enjoy. I would love to come back to California as my last visit was 2009. Cheers Dan
What a beast
Yup.
I couldn’t afford a car let alone what a restoration would cost
Another good review Dave thanks for your work
Glad you enjoyed it Statesman
Good on you mates.
And good on you Phil
At the end of the day it is still a Falcon 500.
‘course it is. So when you’re sat at the lights and it’s pulling off like the Millennium Falcon in hyperdrive, you’re telling me your face won’t be beaming and you’ll turn to the driver and say, “it’s still a 500 though”?
Ha that's telling it like it is. Not everyone can afford an original car and if a replica done well still ticks the boxes for me
As long as owners admit their cars are replicas, there’s nothing wrong with them. The shell’s just another part and not much different to that of a real GT. It’s the go-faster bits that make the car a great tribute to the original.
I don’t think it is. It’s not a genuine phase III, but it’s built a lot better and more lovingly than an original. It also depends on your mindset. The real Phase III’s have been priced out of the market. I, personally would have a much higher regard for a car that someone has done up and is driving around, then one that’s stuck in someone’s garage out of sight. Really they’re all steel, glass and rubber. There’s nothing mystical or magical about them.
@@WesW3187 and from what I hear, this one's definitely got a life of use ahead of it.
Mm, I’m not generally that big on black cars but that does look lovely.
It’s really quite stunning
This is amazing. After building my own fiat x19 based rally car, my interpretation of the Abarth prototipo with a busso V6 I respect the skill involved
Keith has been in touch to tell me he’s adapted the drivers seat position so there’s a chance I might get to pilot this beauty. Oh and the livery has been added. Stay tuned.
Hi Dave I really enjoy your channel and and content that you bring, especially on the Ford stuff in Australia Dan from grand touring he has such a good personality and a top flight craftsman, I appreciate the videos that you bring, kiwi living in California.
Thanks so much for your comment Kerry. You’ll be glad to hear there’s another video featuring Dan coming tonight.
Tell us Americans who love watching this stuff from Australia, more about this Layland force seven automobile. Tell us about the engine, the transmission, everything please everything?
I wish I’d dug deeper with the Force Seven here Wildman. Unfortunately it was the first car I did and had another 20 to get through in the space of an hour or so. FORGET Holden and Ford. This LEYLAND FORCE 7 is edit: THE MOST TRUE BLUE AUSSIE CAR .. EVER! ruclips.net/video/UWtUvYY85qE/видео.html
Great video, thank you for sharing Brotha!
Glad you enjoyed it.
Loved my test drive in an immaculate Lime Yellow VK 770 V8 5.2 Auto. It was during the Petrol scare on sale for $5000. A steal and good value even then (1980 or thereabouts)
Absolutely smashing interview and subscribed :))) well done Dave and Danny kippy
Thanks Kippy. I’m hopping to get a run out in the car soon. Stay tuned

Your problem is your taste is limited to high dollar motors. This is the poor man’s Porsche. And I love it.
@@davesclassicgaragetours I drive a 1976 range Rover Classic. I know classic. I also know it's not always about the $$ value . But that Fuego. Seriously.
@@dirty_dog_outlaws What is your problem with it?
My problem is when people say poor man's Porsche. There are heaps of cheap Porsche options. 924 , 944 , boxster and Cayenne are all in the same price bracket as that ugly thing you call " Poor mans Porsche "
@@dirty_dog_outlaws $1000 for two projexct cars. You won't even get a 924 bonnet for that nowadays.
Would have been good to see the vehicle
That’s what the link to the main video is for
What? This is BS. The lubricant is not because the head and block are aluminum. That is a steel nut going onto a steel stud. The lube is for the purpose of consistent torque and thus, stretch in the stud. I actually don't know why Alfa says to retorque the head nuts. Do they loosen? If so, then use Schnorr ribbed safety washers, which will keep the nuts from backing out. If those are old studs in the block, then they are already work hardened through stretching and don't need to be stretched again. This procedure was invented before effective locknuts were developed. You could even use nyloc nuts, or safety wire the head nuts to prevent them from loosening.
Such a pity its Super Rhino stickers have been replaced by Super Roo versions. There’s no shame - actually some pride, probably - in being a unique version of the original.
I tend to agree. It’s like all the replica GTs made up of GS and 500s, 15-20 years ago. I’m much more excited to see GS graphics running down the side with a few GT add ons than yet another GT clone.
I love the Fulvia. One of the best looking cars ever for me.
Certainly up there in my world
well well well this makes a change from the falcons
I like to mix it up
I cringe what his bill is 💵 when it’s all said and done😖 there goes his super
Judging by his age already, he'll be well tucked into his super. I imagine he'll be fine.
Love the falcons shown here and other videos. I have a special vehicle you might find interesting.
There's more to come and do tell. Don't keep us in suspence.

Hi Dave, I am loving your videos. Thanks for all your effort in making the videos. Cheers
Glad you like them! Wheels. They are a joy to make though that joy could be more if they found more viewers.
The XE is looking good! 👌 Just itching to see the owners first drive.
Top speed was 140 mph too. Not 140kph
Whoops that would’ve been slow
It's not a XE Falcon ESP, It's a XE Fairmont Ghia ESP

Love the Ferraris! I have an identical Fuego here in WA, been sitting for 12 years but was my daily for over 20!
Get it going again. Worst decision of my life letting go of my Fuego. Ok, and the W123 CE And the Accord Aerodeck And the 1600E
@@davesclassicgaragetours It needs a major resto, was a nice car in its day though.
Great job you do Dave, more power to you. Like your laid back but informative vids. Takes a bit of work no doubt to bring it all together. Cheers
Thanks Thestatesman. Please do spread the word, can’t continue with these low numbers watching so I’m heavily reliant on word of mouth as it were.
I share the love of Fuegos! I was 11 when they came out and have never been the same since. The green 308 is lovely for a Ferrari, but it’s no Fuego 😉
Two came up on Marketplace the other day. Been sitting in a blokes yard along with two 504s and a GS + sheds full of parts. The fella clearing the house wants $3000 for the lot to help pay for old people’s home costs. I tried to get Germain on board to buy the Fuegos with me but we don’t have the storage. Told Tim on the island we should build something with one but he said he’d disown me if I bought one. I don’t understand, he loves TR7s. Bet he’s never sat in a Fuego though. That’d change his mind. There’s another green 308 under the covers. Absolutely sublime
Dave the effort you put in to your videos is very much appreciated. I hope the RUclips algorithm finds you and propels the channel forward even more. Your efforts should be rewarded.
That’s very much appreciated MrChainsaw. I’m afraid the algo has punished me for lack of consistency earlier in the year and it appears my lack of me doesn’t fit the you in RUclips. Pity as I’m only really interested in the guys I visit
