This is great thank you. Can you offer any clues as to how to get footnotes to import nicely from MD?
Oh, I wish. To be honest, I've not done any footnotes in a markdown context, but now I'll be thinking about it....
@@Luminousworks Thank you, and no worries, back to MS Word it is then :|
great help, thank you
Incredible. Thank you so so much! I will be trying this out soon. Can anyone confirm that hyperlinks will be carried through for interactive pdf exports? If this method doesn't carry the hyperlinks over, does anyone have a solution for batch processing the hyperlinks during a conversion like this? I don't want to go through connecting each link to the text one by one. Thanks in advance!
Amazing !! Thanks a bunch :-) It even works on CS6.
That is very gratifying to hear! I appreciate your appreciation!
The Scrip is not working at all. It's throwing error. Tried with latest version of InDesign also. Getting error: JavaScript Error! Error Number: 45 Error String: Object is invalid Engine: main File: C:\Users\thebl\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\InDesign\Version 19.0 \en_US\Scripts\Scripts Panel\FindChangeByListMarkdown.jsx Line: 173 Source: app.doScript(myString, ScriptLanguage.javascript);
That is an error that arises if you haven't first placed the InDesign snippet file called "MarkdownStyles.idms". That file adds the styles that the script requires. Here's more on using snippets: helpx.adobe.com/indesign/using/reusing-graphics-text.html
Thank you great tutorial 🎉
Amazing video, and amazing tool. I tried it and the formatting worked like a charm. One question: do you have another script, or have you since updated this script, to deal with markdown links in indesign? With that I'll be home free.
Hi man! Running the script InDesign gives me this error. Codice errore: 30477 Stringa errore: Parametro non valido (Invalid parameter) Motore (Engine): main Riga (Line): 173 Sorgente (Source): app.doScript(myString, ScriptLanguage.javascript); I'm using InDesign 2022 (v17), in Italian language. How can I solve this problem? Thanks!
I have no idea! It’s likely a mismatch in how scripts are handled in the Italian localization of InDesign, but I am not sure
SOLID GOLD. Thank you sir!
FYI, I didn't click "Subscribe", but only because I don't need these showing up in my feed. I _did_ click the thumbs up, and wanted to let you know that I thought this was an _incredibly_ well presented training. Thanks!
It's been a while since you left this lovely comment, so pardon the delay in thanking you. I'm grateful!
Whoever you are, THANK YOU!! This totally saved me on formatting for my senior thesis!
It's been a while, but glad I could help. I hope that thesis was well received
Thanks for this!! Curious, how does this compare to starting with a single master and liquid settings per object, then adding the other sized pages, later, via ‘alternate layout’ + liquid settings? I also wonder if there is a way to build on one master and have the different sized pages all inherit the objects according to liquid rules. This seems to be an hugely useful, but still-underexplored, tricky topic. I’m not sure anyone has truly found the fastest, simplest way, yet.
I attempted the alternate layout option and liquid layout rules. A general solution was much more difficult to achieve. The newer Adjust Layout feature, with its ability to keep content in page zones was more flexible with less fuss. Note I said “less”, not “no”!
@@Luminousworks Ah, amazing. Appreciate the further info! (Also, yeah, I accept that there will be a little fuss, no matter what...)
I’m imagining animation would be one cool use: having the dots swirl in to form the image, or appearing one-by-one like pop-corn, or…
Very cool technique Steve. That got me going down a rabbit-hole thinking what could I do with all those splines in other applications? I'm still down that rabbit hole...
Very cool Steve! How long was the render?
An hour? I chose each render as the time for my walk ‘round the hood.
