Closer to Landscape
Франция
Since the spring of '24 I am on a journey getting closer to landscape surrounding my self-built cabin in the French Gaume. I am sharing he story of how I ended up there twenty years ago and showing you why and how this site means so much to me.
Working on maintenance of the cabin and land, using local materials, repairing dry stone walls and much more, I 'd like to share my desire and efforts to get closer to nature, to cultural history. But also to the identity of this spot and region, in the middle of what historians call a 'guilty' landscape located on the western slope of an old citadelle designed by the 17th century architect Vauban. It's also in the midle of the Maginot Line, WW I en II battlefields are close.
You can join me on this journey, picking mushrooms and berries, preparing regional food, interviewing local people with a special relationship to this landscape, and visiting significant sites!
Please join me on this journey

Corn is not my favorite plant, but nothing beats the sound of dry cornleaves in the wind. I Love the colour of juice. Mine sambucus Bernies were all picked by birds, i was to late this year 😂. Thanks so much for sharing your moments of summer in France!
Thank you for this beautiful video. Your camera work and cinematography (the ones without sound like paintings),beautiful. The deck takes.... poignant as to our "existence ". Re Sainte Ernelle , I have a feeling she'd love to comply with intentions..😊.... Thank you for your generosity, beautiful work 👏 🙏
@@Henri377 thanx again, and give it a thumbs up🤗👍🏽

It is good that you are not bothered by gendarmes in your secret place! Are you familiar with Martin Walker's wonderful French. Police Detective series,
Magnificent!!
Fascinated to see the cab of the John Deere technology entailed in hay baling. I remember my ex-husband scything the fields around the farm house we rented in the late sixties. His massive labor entailed in making the unoccupied property habitable came toan end when the surveyors from the highway expressway arrived one day hrralding our search for snother place to rent. Mavelous to have your property for twenty years! ●Not sure why this is in episode 3. I started it for the 6th episode!
Yep, it's quite a job... But did you move to another farmhouse, more quiet?

Thank you so much for another very beautiful video. I appreciate and love the pace of it and enjoy your pace in all you do. The music backing the Moulin de Sébastol just perfect with its "sverve " or undulations.... Brilliant natural saw horse! Great footage of the baler and its results. The covering of the agricultural artist is outstanding (walking us right through 👌 )capturing the hight and movement and dimension! To look at , take in landscape from your point of you is a beautiful opening to me... To come to this channel is a privilege. ⚘️🙏
Very intersting, that French farmers value their independence as entrepreneurs more than the ability to scale up their business idea. Thank you for the first hand insights!
BEAUTIFUL editing and camera positioning! It so helps to "be there " .... Love the plant species description! Sambucus nigra (Elder Flower), a sacred plant. The care you take makes it possible to be transported, which is a gift to us.... Thank you so much for sharing this part of your world with me/us . ⚘️

What an inspiring episode. As relevant as the scenes of countryside are the sounds you shared: Birds singing, church bells ringing, foot prints in grass and in the forest.

Merci! Another lovely video. I'd love to have the recipe for those walnuts... am a huge fan of beet salad and am interested to try. Love your videography.
4 kg walnuts, soak in salt water for 4-5 days, repeat; then let them dry for 24 hrs after rinsing. Then use .5 to 1 liter of balsamico and herbs of your choice, bring to boil and jar the nuts until fully under, wait for 6 weeks or more before eating… in beetroot salad, cut in half or quarters ad to your favorite recipe😀😚

Vado a vedere i prossimi video😍

Ken je het werk van Robert MacFarlane? Denk dat je het zou waarderen. Mooie video. Dank je.
Ja, prachtig. Heb net Landmarks gelezen. Mooi citaat van Roger: 'To enter a wood is to pass into a different world in which we ourselves are transformed. It is where you trevel to find yourzelf, often, paradoxically, by getting lost'.

Thank you for your beautiful videos. I know she tries to use her art form to show the connecting between culture and agriculture but like many modern art forms I can’t find access to it. For me there is no emotional expression, no deeper message or any kind of bond of both through her art work. Just a few sheets with a nice pattern. I wish this kind of informative art could be more accessible for people without high abstract thinking.
@@LittleChena thanks for your comments. Do you have more specific questions? I can ask her those questions when I will interview her later this year…

En by the way, graag mn videos delen met kennissen en familie🙏🤗😅

I found you today and your video did me a world of good! Beautiful videography and meaningful narration. I’m far away from home for a long time and sometimes missing all what made me into the person I’m, is hurtful. Your video helped. I also live in a small cabin in the woods… in Alaska. … and I have a very deep connection to my landscape. I’m looking forward how you will connect.
Enjoyed this video, just like the first one. It shows the real life, not only the rich history and romance of the silence, but also the very hard work to keep everything in good condition (the cabin and also yourself :) Very nice to see all this and hear your stories!
Thanks a lot for the compliment!
Thanx again !!!!
