i have seen Australia going down hill for the past 40 years, as a young man i found it hard to rent a place in sydney when i left the Army so i lived in my car, that was in the 80s not much has changed except got worse and worse, living in asia for the past 20 years as much much cheaper, lots of aussies are moving in there older age now overseas.

I brought my house in 1991 and paid 106 thousand cash for it , it is now worth ten time that amount I am 61 and my only son/child is 19 he will never be able to buy a house lucky for him there is a big age gap and he will inherit the house probably in the next twenty years or so home ownership is out of reach for many and renting is not available to everyone causing homelessness who or what is to blame?

With thousands of immigrants coming to Melbourne each month, many a cashed up and can afford to purchase a house at top price. My kids are in the housing market and are finding it very hard to compete with cashed up immigrants. I do not understand what affordable housing is.

I am an European living in Australia since 2004 and I can't see any bubble in the property prices, I talk regularly with my relatives in Europe and I came back from Europe last month and I can tell you that in Europe the property are even more expensive if you take ratio to average salaries there than in Australia, well the quality of build is much better over there but still you need at least around 25 years to buy a new property there. In Australia just in average 10 years (80K/Year salary). So I do not know why the Australians complaining instead of strategy planning to save and buy! You can still do it, Australia is still not so bad although is overregulated nanny state!
