Yeah I agree. Learning string skipping takes a lot of practice and it kind of forced me to think about or "approach" the whole concept of strumming differently. Fortunately there are good videos out there that helped me discover some key steps along the way... I agree, especially during the arpeggio-kind-of "bridge part" I "improvised" (i.e. didn't listen accurately enough how it goes down) before the 2nd solo, there are major differences, some of which to me in retrospect is not good improvisation at all :D (and vis-à-vis the original part being so much better and ominous) ...however I like what I did with the very end of this "bridge" right before the 2nd solo (unprepared stuff just appeared in my head on-the-go which came out pretty cool). But yeah, to me the weaker part of this cover is the "bridge" due to lack of concentration in figuring out the original. Thank You for the comment!

I used this one: tabs.ultimate-guitar.com/tab/insomnium/out-to-the-sea-guitar-pro-1488495 ; During the first verse I switched into the secondary melody / other guitar line. If I remember right, the tabs are pretty accurate in my opinion, including the solo.

Thank You! Yes I agree, an exceptional band overall, and in this genre I think they are monumental, bound to be remembered and praised yet for a hundred years from now. Their ability to transmit feelings and to absorb the listener into their soundscape and stories is just insane. I like the way how each album's last song, to me at least, kind of seems to echo and bestow a clue of what is about to follow. On the other hand sometimes the first song of an album reflects bits from their past. This track as the final piece of Shadows of the Dying Sun, I think paved a beautiful and dark way for their ultimate masterpiece Winter's Gate. Now there's a monster for the chronicles of metal, one that will be gazed upon in wonder for decades to come!
