This is the short summary of our percusison symposium held at KONSERVATORIUM WIEN, (City of Vienna University) on April 12&13 , 2013... This is the DAY ONE... Opening concert called "AUSTRIA 21" with most gifted students from all austrian music universities, followed by the Marching master class by JEFF QUEEN and evening oncert by TCHIKI DUO, Schlagwerk Wien! Very true! Thanks for the comment about plastic heads; far too much ring, and far too many foreign overtones!
Also please notice the Vieneese timpani still in use that Professor Hochrainer crafted. These drums were very pure in sound and completely uninhibited by obstructive counter hoops.
Please notice the influence of Richard Hochrainer on the individual discussing the final movement of Beethovens 5th Symphony. So much visualization is so very important. This is the way Professor Hochrainer taught at the Hochschule fur Musik.
