    At the same time, I’d appreciate your opinion on which amp would be best for Neo-soul, R&B, and Lofi music. I’ve previously used a Roland Micro Cube GX but am looking for something with better sound quality. I’m considering the Boss Katana-50 MkIII or the Fender Mustang GTX100, but I’m open to other suggestions if these aren’t the best options for my needs.

    I haven't used guitar pedals before, as I typically rely on the effects built into combo amps. However, I’m now looking to expand my sound, especially for Neo-soul and R&B music. Could you recommend specific models for octave pedals and other effects that would suit these styles? My budget isn’t strictly limited, but I’d prefer to keep it under €200 per pedal.

      Hey man, I get how it can be confusing because of the chromatic movement from Ab major, but try to play the chords a few times with the song in the background and you’ll feel the clash when trying to play F major over the last chord. Another clue we can have about the key of this song is the melody (the singing). Notice it is in F minor (you can definitely notice Ab note that is sang in the melody which is the minor third degree in a minor scale (instead of a major 3rd in a major scale). Cheers

      @@guitarfire6380 So I actually can see what you are saying, but I think what is happening is the "bluesy 3rd blur". Blues so so often sings or plays a b3 on top of the major 3rd of a major or dominant chord. The 7#9 Hendrix chord sound. I think he is singing an Ab over the F Major, as per Blues Harmony, and therefore our ears have trouble discerning the tonality of the chord. However, while I am not attempting to say you are definitely wrong, these are all the sources which suggested to me that it probably is a b3 sung over a Major/Dominant chord. Calls it "F7", 1:00 - ruclips.net/video/PWXFekkHn0M/видео.html Calls it "F", 0:35 - ruclips.net/video/JCsbLFkiqlU/видео.html Calls it "F", Notice key sig of Bb/Gm must just be for convenience, look at last F chord playing while he sings "accidental Ab" " - www.musicnotes.com/sheetmusic/mtd.asp?ppn=MN0038880 Four descending major chords - ruclips.net/video/1x1waxF2DpQ/видео.html Not that this means as much, but at 1:09 you can see D'Angelo actually doing the same descending major shape to the last chord - ruclips.net/video/eT75hdcOOkU/видео.html

    I'm just learning how to play the guitar and currently playing on an Orangewood acoustic guitar. Is there a budget electric guitar that will provide a somewhat decent R&B/Neo-Soul/Blues sound? If not, is there a budget guitar that the pickups can be updated at a later time for a good R&B sound?

    • @simplysquared8356
      @simplysquared8356 Год назад

      Depends on how budget you’re talking but squire Strat is always a good choice whether that be the affinity or classic vibe

    • @guitarfire6380
      @guitarfire6380 Год назад

      I always recommend in these situations to upgrade a Squier (or any other guitar that feels comfortable to you) with some high quality pickups (coilsboutique.com in my case, like the Epiphone in this video). The total cost for such guitar will be $300-$400 for the guitar, another $200-$300 for the pickups and $50-$100 for the guitar technician. TOTAL COST: $550-$800, depends on the model. Strat and Tele guitars (and pickups) are usually cheaper than Epiphone with humbuckers. Good luck 🍀

    Hi is the gretsch g5425t any good for RnB

    • @guitarfire6380
      @guitarfire6380 Год назад

      Gretsch, in general, has a more specific and less versatile sound. This specific model is the cheap version so in order to make the best out of this one I would recommend getting it after you checked it’s comfortable and then replace the pickups to a high end model (just make sure that the Gretsch humbucker slot is in a normal standard size!). This way you’ll end up with a great sounding and relatively cheap guitar 🎸 In terms of sound, these humbuckers (the originals) should fit in the neo soul sound spectrum :) Hope it helps and good luck 🍀

      Hey man, I see it comes with an HSS setup which is great, it has a whammy bar which also awesome, overall looks like it would definitely fit neo-soul style. Make sure to listen to it before u buy, especially in clean tone! I recommend comparing head-to-head with a Stratocaster just to make sure u like the sound. From what I know, these guitars are used more for fusion and prog(?) So maybe the pickup sound design is also closer to these worlds(?) not sure..

    • @guitarfire6380
      @guitarfire6380 2 года назад

      I’d say go for it, the semi hollow P90 setup will work great for R&B (as well as Blues,Jazz, etc) Just a little side note - if ur also into funk, the P90 pickups sounds a little different when strumming so I’d make sure it goes along with what ur aiming to achieve, good luck 🍀

    • @guitarfire6380
      @guitarfire6380 2 года назад

      Hmm.. I would say that it depends on the model. Some Gretsch models come with a mini humbucker (that generates a beautiful sound) but is very specific so this kind of model would be less versatile. I still think it can fit the R&B soundscape but if it’s a first guitar I would go for something like a Strat or a guitar with double humbucker setup. If you get one of their P90 models I would say go for it 100%

      Thanks for the nice comment man :) This is how I analyze it: We have a cadence in Db major consisting of III-7, II-7, Imaj7 (F-7, Eb-7, and Dbmaj7). In this case, I will address the G-7 as the second degree of F-7. Btw, in this type of music, secondary sub-dominants are quite common. Subdominant chords are the II-7 and the IVmaj7 (in the major scale), and you can try adding them to different chords of a scale, extending the harmonic content. Hope this was helpful :) You can give some love back by liking sharing or subscribing, thx!

      I've used the GTR stomp VST in the past and it's quite cool but I can't really say it sounds like the real deal since imitating what your leg is doing by automating the plug-in can result in an unnatural sounding guitar track. Btw, you can actually create a wah effect pretty easily by programming a wah style EQ (you can see what the wah EQ looks like in this video) and automating it to go up and down (in Hz)
