your comment about watching unscripted versus drama/movies makes a lot of sense. I think it doesn't matter terribly at the beginner-intermediate level because scripted is clearer and easier to understand but once one can, moving on to chaotic real korean is better ^^

Happy to see that you're vlogging again after holidays with your family. I've been binge watching your Korea Diaries and this popped up, so I was super happy. It makes ME homesick as my family spent 17 years in Germany (my dad's work for the US Defense Dept). And I met and married my husband there. I noticed foreigners only enjoy Korea and live there long time is if they have a life partner or large group of best friends but it's probably the same with all countries. And those who live in the suburbs of Seoul or Daegu or down South in Jeju or Busan areas.

I forgot to mention the skin care line even for women of color was amazing….way better than the states.

I was stationed there for a year and loved the food and the women who did my hair…

This was very honest and insightful, and some of the exact same feelings (apart from Veganism lolol) I went through when I lived there for a while. Just like anywhere, it is good to go to a place and experience a completely different life and culture, because this is the only way to gain empathy. I am wary of creators who only say good or bad things about a place because it is always a mix of the two. And if we give an honest telling of both the good and the bad, and lot of the time we get criticism from both sides. It is important to try things, because you never know what it is like (despite learning all you can about it) until you actually do it. And then you also have no regrets. But it is also very mature of you to say hey, I tried this and despite what I thought, it isn't for me. Like you said, you really got to understand yourself better. Good luck in university, and good luck in life. Thank you for your lovely videos. 💓

I am Korean and I have been to school in the States for 4 years. I was being stared everywhere I go, since I went to a city where the population was 90% white people. No kidding it is hard living in other countries as a foreigner, but hey, kudos for both of us for having a courage to try a new thing and put ourselves in to a challenge!
