This video shows assessing the damage and what it will take to fix this DRZ. My riding partner hit a rut in the trail and flipped the bike over, luckily he wasn't injured. Stay tuned for more videos detailing how I'm going to fix this bike. If you liked this video, please like, subscribe, and comment, it sure would help my small struggling channel. Thanks.
ADV Ride Remote SW Washington. Indian Heaven Wilderness Area.
Просмотров 380Год назад
Remote adventure ride through the forest of south west Washington around the Indian Heaven Wilderness. The ride starts out in Packwood, WA going between Mt Adams and Mt Saint Helens, ending in Stevenson, WA. This is not the WABDR Section 1 route, but one that I mapped out a few years ago. Both routes start and end in the same place. I find that there is a lot more scenery and a bit more remoten...
WABDR Section1 Early June 2023. Snow Crossings, Slick Mud, and Deep Gravel
Просмотров 502Год назад
This was an early June attempt to do section 1 of the WABDR. We experienced several deep snow crossings along the route, mostly by Takhlakh Lake. We wanted to map out some nice places to camp on our adventure too. We tried going around the Indian Heaven Wilderness on a remote route that parallels the official route of the WABDR. Hope you like this video, please Like and Subscribe if you want to...
WABDR Section 1 Taking a Shortcut to Save Some Miles, LOL
Просмотров 717Год назад
After a long day riding on Section 1 of the WABDR, we decided to take a shortcut to save some miles and get to Packwood sooner. Well, I don't think it saved any time, but it was fun. The road was rough with deep ruts, large rocks, downed trees, and slick mud. At times, it started to feel like it was going to turn into single track. Beware, if you try this route, make sure your off-road riding s...

Dual Sport Adventure on Double Track. Packwood Lake May 2023
Просмотров 231Год назад
Early season ride into Packwood Lake. The trail is very rocky in many places, and can feel like riding on a river bed. The trail was blocked by snow on the up hill climb into the lake, so we didn't end up making it to the lake. As always, please like and subscribe and leave me a comment. Thanks.

Just out for a day ride, on our DRZ400's, on a nice Spring day. This road is loaded with what we call tank traps, basically raised berms to keep people from driving on them. They do make good jumps. Please like and subscribe to my channel and leave me a comment. Thanks for watching.

DRZ400 Single Track. Making Dumb Decisions
Просмотров 260Год назад
Last summer, my friends and I were out riding in the mountains exploring old abandoned logging roads. We decided to take a trail off one of these old logging roads, which turned out to be a heart pounding ride. The trail was just wide enough for our bikes, on our left side the mountain face, on the right side was a sheer drop off. The bushes on the right side concealed just how close the cliff ...

Thanks for doing this video. I have a 400SM and was looking to get this stand for the chain and whatever else.
Tapered prt should be towards the bike
Brand new to riding and have got a 2006 400E so this is super helpful - thank you
Great video. Great explanation. It's easier than I thought.
Great video! It would be super helpful if you could make a video on how to wire it for the integrated indicators as-well!
I ordered a similar kit with 5 wires, same colour setup. So this video saved me a bunch of guessing! Also grinding off the tabs and thread lock tips were golden. Thank you sir!
Seems nutless!? Am I missing something???? The weakest of the weak!
thank you
Great video, super helpful especially since we're looking to do WABDR starting Section 1 on June 9th. Would you say Takhlakh lake is where most of the snow is on the main route of Section 1? I'm hoping the last deep snow ya'll hit is not part of the main BDR route? Any input will help understand the conditions we might expect in June. Thanks.
I had to use 100% concentration while watching this so I wouldn't fall off lol can't imagine how happy you were to see the main road.
This only works good with the low setting. At the high setting It sucks when trying to raise the bike! Almost impossible to lower it when you step on the lowering pedal, so you have to use the raising pedal in reverse. In other words you have to put your foot behind the raising pedal and pull it out, and that's only if the bottom of your shoe is able to grip it.
Thank you, great video! Would you mind sharing the name of the skid plate you have on your DRZ in the video?
ordering some of those mounts now, mounting them up on my wr450 and i didn't like the straps against my legs. Thank you!
Great video thank you!
What is the correct freeplay adjustment? That's all I really need to know. (1.6-2") Thank you for showing a good way to do this.
So that is what those numbers are for. My chain was looser than yours holy crap I am lucky I didn't crash. Can you recommend a jack? Do I need a certain kind for the drz? How often do you need to do it?
is the top of the chain tension a useless measurement? i had always checked the top of it , but it appears i was doing it wrong!
1800ml of oil
Very cool video. Thanks taking us along for the ride! Hope your okay after the fall.
love the video. Next year want to do section 1 of the bdr. If you need a partner to do it. Let me know. I can transport my bike to packwood or Stevenson Thanks
Sounds great!
I want to make a new updated video on the WABDR, so yes, I would totally be down with having you join me on that adventure. Just need to figure out some dates this coming summer.
Perfect. Let me know. Thanks!
rhinowalk side pannier might look better on drz
i'll check them out. Thanks
Glad it wasn’t worse! Rider is OK? Can you post the dollar amount after repairs are completed? Curious to know the expense
Great idea on posting the cost to fix something like this yourself, instead of taking it to the repair shop.
Looks like it should buff out. 😂
I'll need some really heavy duty buffing compound...

What’s the part number for the frame crush washer?? Wasn’t able to see it. Thanks!

Thanks for the sub!
Great video very informative! Thank you
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you, really helpful! Tomorrow i'm going to do it for the first time myself. I feel more confident now seeing your clear instructions and explanations.
Glad it was helpful!
Yes, replaced them..now is working like a charm again. Thanks!
Cool video, I’m going to have to try to camp there sometime.
Have fun! Pretty campsite.
I’m in the area and would like the gpx if you’re willing to share. What’s your email?

Great video! Are you willing to share the tracks in the description, or via DM?
Sure, can you email me and I'll attach the GPX file
Most detailed one I've seen. Thanks!
Glad it was helpful!
I'm thinking about heading to Twin Falls Campground here maybe this weekend or next week :)
Very pretty little campground. Not very big, very little parking for vehicles but no problem for bikes. I've been meaning to explore it more. The road leading down to the campground stops/dead ends at the river, but it looks like it use to connect to the other side of the river. There are some remote forest roads on the other side of the river that I explored a few years ago. I've been meaning to try to find where the campground use to be on the other side of the river.
Great vid. Thx!
You are welcome. Glad you liked it. Thanks
Beautiful country! Sorry you had a wreck bro! Seems like the bike was OK… You found some great camping sites!
yes, very beautiful country. Tons of campsites. Wreck was my fault for not paying attention to what I was doing.
Not knowing is the worst of it. Looks like a road I would love to rip
It's a super fun road if you have some off-road skills. I'm definitely going to be using it more, go give it a try.
How do you like your Zoleo? I had another brand and it was useless any time I was anywhere near trees which is EVERYWHERE here in Western Wa
I like it a lot, but it must be out in the open so it can see the sky. I had it in my pocket last year and it lost the signal. No problem if it has a view of the sky, even in the trees. I really need to find a way to clip it to myself instead of mounting it on my handle bars.
@@motoventurenw That's good to hear. Might look into trying one.
Super cool 😎
Thanks Jay.
Says it the manual to take ur measurements with the bike in the side stand.
This
Agreed. If you adjust when the bike is lifted it will become tight when on the side stand or riding. (swing arm physics)
Great video. Very comprehensive. Lighting, editing, and sound are all very professional! I am a little surprised you do not address the wheel being on the ground versus being on the stand, as it may effect the chain free play ? Do you measure with the wheel on the ground, and adjust with it on the stand ? Or does it truly not matter ? Thank you.
The suspension is fully extended with the rear wheel on a stand (off the ground) or on the ground, so it really doesn't matter. Although, it's easier to do the job if the bike is on a stand upright. I've done it both ways.
at 13:46, that's a blue grouse, one of the most stupid birds in existence. I hunt `em with a longbow and fluflus-you can get *that*close.
It was kind of a surprise to see him sitting right on the line that I had chosen.
My right ear enjoyed this...
I gotta try this one. I think I rode past and up to the hiking parking lot last year. ps,I spent Sunday (mother's day) banging around trails along Skate Creek. Snow on everything with any elevation, but enough good mileage piecing everything together to make a ride out of it.
Skate Creek looked fairly deserted this weekend, which made it look like a really nice ride. I left Packwood and headed toward Elbe using Skate Creek Rd on Sunday too (I was in my truck). I did see a few bikes on my way out. What do you ride?
@@motoventurenw 2022 Orange KLR, White Helmet. Possibly standing on the side of the road taking photos :)
@@BMRTV where you parked by one of the bridges off the road, next to the creek? I thought I saw an orange bike parked by a bridge.
@@motoventurenw Not sure. I did stop by the bridge on 47 just off Skate. I did turn off skate at the bridge and headed up the gravel road but wasn't stopped there. At another point I was stopped in a pull out so I could photograph some trees.
My 2023 drz400s manual says 79.5 ft lbs for the axel nut...any ideas why our numbers differ?
Hum, not entirely sure why the 5.5 ft lb difference. I can only guess that Suzuki updated some of it's manual specs or maybe they are using different type of axle nut on newer models. You could verify with the shop that you bought it at too. I would say follow your manual on what is says for your bike.
@@motoventurenw👍
Thanks for the News at Eleven on this. I'm planning on doing a couple days of WABDR as soon as it's warm enough.
I would wait till mid June unless you like snow riding. Things need to dry out and melt a bit more. The road was fairly greasy that day too and the bikes where really muddy by the end of the day. Maybe see you on the trail this summer, we have more rides planned in the section 1 area.
@@motoventurenw Yeah, it's amazing how long into the year snow stays around on trails.
Looks like a fun ride! 😂
heart pounding!!!
I’m in Tacoma, and just picked up a scrambler and would love to dive into the BDR this year if you need someone to ride with! Would love to link up!
That sounds great. We are just waiting on the snow to melt. We have all kinds rides planned for this summer. Have you done any BDR sections or off road riding?
@@motoventurenw Ive done lots of off-road riding, but none on a big bike. My plan was to do some Capitol Forest rides to get my gravel legs under me and then start on section one of the BDR and take it slow and easy. Then do the rest in sections as I can. But I have no one to ride with so I was just going to do it by myself. haha
@@MOTOSCOUTtv Great. If you don't mind riding with a couple of complete strangers, then you are more than welcome to join. We will be doing some BDR stuff this summer. We plan on starting out just doing section 1 early this summer. I'll let you know the dates.
@@motoventurenw Perfect! Can't meet new people without starting as strangers! Lets do it!
Very informational video, would you be able to do this same video but for the SM version of the DRZ400 as that is the model I have. Unfortunately I haven’t been able to find too much on RUclips for the sm model, it would be so very helpful! Thanks, stay safe out there!!
I would like to show the SM model adjusters on video, but I don't own an SM model. Sorry
Very helpful thank you! I know it's not easy to tmak a video. Great tip with the rag in the chain to snug it up. So, what kind of a bike stand should I get from Harbor Freight? I need to buy one.
It appears that harbor freight no longer carries the exact rear wheel stand that I'm using. I did find very similar ones on Amazon. The bike master branded rear stand on Amazon is the most similar to the one I'm using so look for that one.
