    I bought the zippered head cover pattern and just completed my first fairway cover. It turned out beautifully! I love the zipper look and as you said, it is quick and easy to use! The pattern is great and I especially like your video tutorial. You did an excellent job demonstrating the steps. I'm so happy with this project that I've started making the driver cover. Thank you for making an excellent pattern and video!

    Can you see any reason why I could not do leather with fleece lining?

      you can use leather, but will need to thin the edges of the leather to help with the turn out and seams. Seams get bulky fast with leather. good luck!!

    I bought the zipper pattern, but I would rather have the contoured pattern. Is there any difference in the zipper and contoured patterns other than the zipper and ribbed material?

    Love that idea. I started using socks but found they weren’t durable enough. Thick, hiking boots kind would be ideal.

    PS the only time I made golf covers over 20 years ago I used black acrylic knee socks in a lovely thick pattern and textured design. Just cut away and I believe I would be able to use the leg as the tube you start with here and just cut out the small throw away rectangle and end up with a lovely shaft cover that sews right into this pattern if yuo choose this contoured style.

    Loved seeing this club cozy being made today. Reminds me of over 20 years ago designing club covers for a friend as Xmas exchange gift. I embroidered the club # and for fun I embroidered a joke one with the wrong # just cause as it was my experimental pattern anyway. With that said I needed that returned because it was my pattern of sorts. I used a combination of black velour blanket and acrylic soft knee high socks for the leg part and the design I made was a black snake with a split red tongue and the number on the top of the snakes head. It came out amazingly well. Back in my more creative days. Anyway the socks helped balance the weight to keep the snake covers on. And I also added a cute pocketed hand towel in black and embroidered on one half side the fellas name and on the other side the word Balls. Will I had two used golf balls some folks gave me to put in the towel's pockets. This was a lot of in jest and it was innocent fun and turned out really well. In the meantime the person promised to return the boo boo wrong # for me to keep as a pattern but will he refused after his parents saw it they had to have one and that was that. I have no idea 20 years later how or what I made other than a memory it was a snake and embroidered numbers in red and words embroidered in red on a black hand towel with grommets set on the towel too to help clip it onto a bag or belt. I'm not a golf player. My inlaws tried to talk me into making covers in shapes and all for them and to sell. I told them not on your life as you could import what they had in mind from the other countries and they would not only do a great job in most cases but had the materials I would not be able to keep for making squirrels and bears and all that on a regular basis of production. Plus I lean towards creativity and once around is just right but repeat and repeat not so much. Love your hints of lining with fleece. Do you know there wasn't that much fleece around 20 years ago. I know buy throw blankets of every kind and quality to use as fabric. Love having all the fleece they make today. Mainly solids but there are some wonderful quality textures and prints too. Will thank you for taking me down memory lane and loved your little cover. Would love to see your embroidery patterned ones or a few anyway.

    Cool video! My wife has become a pretty skilled seamstress since my mom got her into sewing and I asked her if she could make me one of these to which she replied, "No. But you can learn to sew one yourself!" Looks like I'll be using your tutorials to learn how to sew golf accessories.

    Hi I have a couple of questions. I am a bag maker and have never played golf in my life but my dad has asked for some head covers for Christmas so i have no idea what im doing 😅 Is there a reason that the fabrics have to be quilted on to the foam? Is there a reason for it being unlined? Is this just a matter of bulk? I have an industrial machine so bulk isn't too much of an issue Thank you for your tutorial I will definatly be making some I'm in the process of gathering materials 😊

    • @user-vv2zm9ww7n
      @user-vv2zm9ww7n 9 месяцев назад

      Hi Iris Thank you for your support. To answer your questions; at the time that I designed the pattern, I had just given up quilting and I started by using quilters cotton to make headcovers. Obviously that fabric is too thin by itself so I applied the cotton to the foam. I wanted to make it “as one” so I quilted it together. I personally like the look of quilting stitched but if you are using a more durable fabric such as vinyl or upholstery fabric, quilting isn’t necessary. It’s a matter of choice. But if using cotton I would recommend adhering it to the foam with stitching. Using heat fusing may not stand up to the constant “man-handling” that these covers go through. Regarding lining them; I wanted to make the pattern simple for the general sewing public. Lining them is not necessary, although it does present a more finished product. I would suggest that you sew your lining fabric to the backside of each piece before assembling. Do an overcast stitch on the raw edges to keep things neat. Remember this is your project and you can alter or add to it any way you desire using your individual sewing skills. My pattern it just an initial footprint. I hope this answers all your questions. I would love to see your finished product Darcee

      You could definitely play around with techniques for sewing with this design and customize your own approach. Beginning sewers are just a project or two short of experienced. One of the reasons I love to sew is it is so forgiving and so remarkable easy to change everything as you go a long or make adjustments the next time. I rarely use a pattern. I have never learned to knit and crochet in part because I never took the time to learn the basics that would allow me to change patterns and designs as I go along. With sewing for some reason for some of us these changes come oh so naturally. I can tell from your suggestions you are already there. So make one or two or a set of these and all your future sets will be far more easier and fun and customized to your understanding how to make things happen. Happy sewing and golfing this 2024.

    Hi Darcee! I know you said that the middle section only needs to be quilted around the four edges, but would quilting it with the diamond pattern make assembly any harder? New to this hobby (this will actually be my first project)
