How to Root Forsythia-3 different ways!
oh wow what was the name of the first flowers please? ❤
Green fingers not thumbs.😅
Now you’ve made me more curious so I’m getting creeping Jenny. I’m from NYC love your accent 🙏🏾😀
Forsythia is invasive !
I’m planting English lavender today. I always heard manure adds acidity to soil? I also read lavender wants alkaline. How did your lavender do?
You did such a good Job.....but if you really want to be sure that those lavenders will grow perfect in that new soil....just cut the flowers. I know....its painful but all that energy from the flowers will go into the roots on establish into that new space, and next year.....those plants will be spectacular! 🥰
Yes I agree about pink flowers and red brick. I'll have one token dianthus plant then😊
flowers are meant to be picked that's how you get the plant to produce more blooms 😊
Yeah ❤❤❤
The plants are planted too close to one another.
Love it. I'm going to do this! ❤
Yes I have this red clay soil! No plant survived in it and I planted roses but they died so I finally realized the ptoblem is not enough soil and on top of it’s clay soil
That was fun to watch. Also, I laughed through more than half of it. Going to follow your tips. Thank you for making this entertaining.
Did it work? Let us know how your garage door results turned out!
You are incredible soooo honest and natural. We love watching your videos. Thank you for being true to yourself. 👍😍
I love creeping Jenny .. no problem here in Colorado
You can also use disposable latex gloves to keep fingers clean when spreading the caulk.
How come Tricia is not helping you? 😉
Thank you,,,hi from Sweden
So do you plant every year?
How did the forsythias do? I looked for a follow up video and didn’t see one, but maybe I missed it. Thanks!
Oh my gosh, absolutely gorgeous!! Now I need a full sun window box 😃
So informative and helpful for me in Zone 8b❤❤❤❤Thanks so much for sharing❤❤
Hi! How did this turn out? Does it totally die off in the winter? Do you have an update to share? Thank you!
Easy peasy! Thank you. I have a friend with some bushes, pretty sure I can get some cuttings for our place.
So first time with and no luck does the soil need to be really dry that is what I have heard
It is so common that nobody know the name of this plant here
you can just stick them in the ground they root fast.
What soil did you use bagged soil help 😅
I’m very curious how it’s doing! I’ve read about a bath tub effect over time, so I’m wondering if this will happen in a few years!
P.s. do you cut Russian Sage back in the fall like lavender?
That is so beautiful!, romantic and cottage looking❤ All my window boxes are in full shade-part shade. I can see doing these in containers and popping them out in my full sun bare spot flower bed areas.
Thank you , been trying to get rid of all my pine needles for a few years. I recently saw they are really good for blueberries, rhododendrons, azalea, hydrangeas due to the acidity. I have all of those plants and didn’t know. I was frustrated because I have 3 golden doodles and I’m picking pine needles constantly out of their curly poodle coats. They don’t wash out easily and I have so many various pine trees throughout my property. I am learning..learning to embrace the mess and think with a new perspective of the benefits 😊
I have done all the same methods for my cherry , apple trees, rhododendrons, hydrangeas. I have a 4th tip: this is known as air layering; take the lowest long branch still attached to your shrub and bend the branch down without breaking it and burry a node about 5-6” and just forget about it until you see new growth. Cut from mother plant and transplant where you want or gift it. FOR TREES: scar a thin branch at the collar ( where it branches from the trunk) or a node and place potting about a cup of moist potting mix in in a bag (grocery bag or zip loc) make sure soil is covering the node or crown and wrapped to keep soil in. Depending on variety of tree you will see roots anywhere from 6 weeks-3 months. When you see healthy roots detach and transplant. Also you can remove some leaves as she did in the video and it will speed up the root development. You can also add some rooting hormone to where you scared it if you want but not necessary they will root without it!
Great tips!!!
I can’t find the follow up where we get to see the garden full of flowers. Am I missing it?
You can't kill those things. Their roots creep out and replant themselves everywhere
You can actually just stick the cuttings into the ground. No need to root like that. Quicker way
i've seen the cuttings planted upside down and they'll root
I snipped two 6-8" stems of first bud in early March, then just stuck them in the ground. 5 weeks in and they're still alive, most likely rooting well. My #1 rule is to keep the bottoms warmer than the tops and they will root. I've been very successful with roses, azaleas, and multiple shrubs. I'll use rooting hormone in pots, but none if going into the ground. Zone 5. Oh yes, praying over them, too!
@@hollylc9914 you've propagated azaleas in zone 5?? I tried 6 cuttings last July, deciduous not evergreen azalea, soon as blooms done and new growth came. No success. But I didn't have bottom heat.
@jonathannorthup2471 I planted the stems facing south yet in dappled light, with a stone wall behind them. The ground kept warm near the stones while the tops were shielded from too much sun. Air temp stays cool til May where we are, just enough time to root. My azaleas are the last to bloom on our street, they're 2' dwarves
I watched the entire video and never got any answers.
Wish there was an update on this.. we have this exact plan but in a much larger amount. Wish i knew if it worked before all the work
I still can't find a follow-up video
They are so beautiful, and your video is so easy to follow. Thank you!
so how dd it work out?
I have clay soil , I like it lol ( now I know why my lavender died lol)
Was there ever a follow-up to this? Which method worked best?
I thought you knew what happened to the presenter 😢
@@juliocegewhat happened?
Yes, what happened?
Better than this to get same results: and old and rustic pot. Take a pen: 1) Fill your pot full of water and put it without sunlight 2) wait 24 hours 3) remove water and direct sun light 4) repeat step 1 then let it dry Welcome
I also live in Tennessee. I'm in zone 7. I am eager to order a forsythia plant (show-off starlet). When can/should i put it in the ground. I have not been able to find that in my research. Is it after they bloom? Love watching you and happy wedding festivities.
Nice but it would be a fire hazard out west.
My 80+ year old landlady has an old forsythia here on her family's (from late 1800's) property. Im going to surprise her by propagating it. It really needs cut back to the ground to rejuvenate it... But I don't know if I could talk her into it yet. Lol
A great video, thanks so much! I'm off to get the lime now!!🤩
