Wish we were closer on earth. I scrapped one to take a look. Hated the smell most were starting to swell. I took about 200 pounds of laptop batteries to our hazardous waste site at the landfill.

You guys better be on the lookout for copper coated aluminum 😂……….. I had a bunch of washing machine motors and stripped the copper, it was copper coated aluminum.
A scrappers biggest disappointment! The trickery is very real! Fans are another area of letdown, too

You could possibly collect all the optical and glass components together, photograph them and then pack them in a box. Putting a local classified advert may reach a tinkerer that is prepared to pay enough to go to all the trouble of packing and posting them. Older microscopes were largely built of brass, these days less and less and the metals will be cast iron, steel and aluminium.

It's not a problem at all, Roger! I'm finally returning the shoutout you threw my way when I first started out 🙏 Unlike me, I hope you actually scrap them and not put them aside and then pile stuff on top and completely forget you ever had them. Then, one day, when you've had enough of all the clutter, you do a clean up and discover them and no exactly where they came from. 😅

@@MicroScraprMike I have got to agree with you on that one the smaller ones are better in one way , some of the very big ones sometimes have the same size boards as the smaller ones and you are left with alot more plastic and bigger screen to dispose of , I have a couple of 75 inch screens think I might to a compare what get out of of a 75 / 32 and maybe even small one and see which ones are worth stripping and which are not lol

I've not seen a microscope scrapped before, interesting. Any of the screws brass ?

Great video I like taking those apart for easy brass , copper and some wire, here in uk terminals are usually brass sometimes lucky and find the add copper one 😁

Great attempt I findit better just using white vinegar and table salt , take a little longer ( quicker in warmer weather )but it doesn’t go off , plus when you finished removing all the gold it is easy to recover the copper out of the solution afterwords with steal bar , so you recover the gold plus the copper 👍😁
I’ve got some going at moment when it’s done I’ll do video of the whole process how I do it plus recovering the copper too , in case you interest in recovering the copper too 👍
