Oof, don't use spray paint. Latex paint that you roll on is much easier. Also please please please use proper safety protection when painting using spray paint.
Latex roll on paint is another great option that I have also used in the past! As for the spray paint, as long as you avoid mold-resistant paint, and let the paint fully cure it is aquarium safe! Happy fish keeping!
should have hacked all the stems down to about 3 inches. you may have even considered removing 1/2 of the stems straight out and replant the tops. the base of the plant will be much healthier.
