Embracing imperfection. Ceramics. Styling. Inspiration. Welcome to Studio Lukkili!
I’m Margriet Kramer from The Netherlands. Passionate about creating unique ceramic pieces and styling interiors with a natural, calm, and imperfect touch. Since I was little, I've been in search of old, weathered, and imperfect pieces for my home (and even before that, for my bedroom)-vintage finds from thrift stores and imperfect creations I've made myself. Here, on Studio Lukkili, I share my love for handmade ceramics and interior inspiration, from atmospheric corners to out-of-the-box styling tips. Get inspired to transform your space with ceramics, (dried) wildflowers, and creative details that bring personality to your home. I'm honored that my ceramics and the interior of my home have been featured in leading Dutch interior magazines and some international ones, including VTWonen, Seasons, Ariadne at Home, Libelle Wonen, Country Style Magazine (Australia), and Sweet Paul (USA).

I'm Dutch trying in English. Here's why. This video is all about TRYING OUT: filming myself, speaking English, editing, uploading etc.
Love your beautiful dog, who knows where the warmest place is to sleep! I have a beautiful black rescue greyhound called Madge (her racing name was Devil's Magic, but thankfully the racetrack in Poole, England, is now permanently closed) what breed is your beautiful dog - is he/she a whippet? Love your home, and your natural things in it. I am a pottery painter, and used to make my own hand made pottery things, but now buy the bisc (for those who do not know, it is pottery once fired in a kiln) as blanks, and paint them with underglaze, then hand glaze them, and fire them in my kiln at home, which I keep in my little front garden. I am very into salvaged pieces, and second hand things. I live in West Devon, England, in a converted cart barn, that was one of 5 holiday cottages, which were sold off in 2016 to private buyers, and they all have full residential use now. The other 4 around me are second homes, so I see different folk coming and going, which I love. There is no traffic where I live, which I am so grateful for, as I am a highly sensitive person - cars are parked up the top of our private lane that we have right of way over, so it is lovely and quiet, and pollution free from traffic fumes. I feel so lucky to live here with Madge, and although I only go out of my home to walk her, and take my rubbish and recycle to the end of the lane, due to my sever anxiety, I am surrounded by nature. Where is it that you live in your beautiful home? Blessings from Jilly & Madge. xxx

Sitting here by the wood stove, knitting a sweater and enjoying the tour of your beautiful old farmhouse! Love all of the woodwork! Your ceramics look so nice and "at home" there on your shelves. Looking forward to seeing your renovation progress. I'm still experimenting with the wild clay and pit fires. I made an incense burner - (husband bought me some incense sticks ) and a couple of small bowls. Now I'm working on little tea-light candle holders. Sending you warm wishes from the blue ridge mountains. We had our first few snowflakes this evening while I was out feeding the sheep. Winter is finally here.
That sounds so great! Warm wishes to you too! (I’m also knitting a sweater at the moment. I was considering adding it to my video yesterday but decided not to. Maybe next time).🤗😘
beautiful home, beautiful land. thank you for sharing ❤

Thank you!🫶🏻💫
Love these!❤

Have you ever tried the method of covering the slabnof clay with Saran wrap before cutting out the stars? It gives you nice smooth edges and really saves time on having to smooth all the edges. ❤ Love your stars! 😊
You probably wouldn't get the imperfections in the clay that you like, though. 😀
Thank you so much for the tip! I’m definitely going to look into it and give it a try!
Your videos are lovely! I'm not a potter but I recently found some "wild clay" in the bank of the stream on our farm here. it's not quite as plastic as I would like but I'm having fun making buttons and firing them in a pit outside. I think I'm going to try to make an incense holder and some texture wheels. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and providing inspiration!
Such a lovely message! Amazing that you found clay so close to home. Making buttons and trying pit firing sounds like so much fun. Enjoy making the incense holder and texture wheel! I'm so glad I could inspire you. It's my goal for this channel!😊
What a cool idea! ❤
As a child, I lived in Northwood, Middlesex, England, and we lived in a house where others were being built around us, so the London clay was exposed, and I made lots of horses, and put them on the top of the fence, as if they were galloping along I suppose. So I have always loved clay, and am a pottery painter now at the age of 68 years young. I buy bisc (glazed once in a kiln for those who do not know) blank pieces, paint then with underglaze paint, hand glaze them, then fire them in my kiln I have at home here. I love your stars and beads. Blessings from Jilly & Madge the rescue greyhound, from West Devon, England. xxx
Oh, fun!
Thank you🙏🏻

That is so nice to hear!🙏🏻💫
Lovely ornaments! Simple and beautiful!
Thank you!🫶🏻💫
Hello. Your work is beautiful. What white glaze do you use? I love how it breaks over texture.
Thank you for your kind words! I use the STTC 02 1200-1280 glaze (from a Dutch company Creavisie) which is a standard shiny white glaze. I’m not sure if it’s available worldwide, but most standard shiny white stoneware glazes will do. I think the effect you’re seeing is also due to how I often dilute my glazes more than usual, especially for decorative items. This creates that beautiful texture break. You could try a little test by taking a small amount of glaze, adding some water to one batch, and a bit more to another, and see how it turns out. Just experiment and see what works best for you! Have fun!💫
@@studiolukkili You are very kind explaining everything you do. Your art is so peaceful!! Best wishes for you, Margriet!! ✨🤗✨

This is looking really great, thanks for sharing. Clay and glaze are a perfect combination. The pattern is turning out great 👍 🥰
So glad to hear that the stamp pattern works so well! Enjoy!
Love to see you imprint some of those pretty flowers from your walks into your clay. 😊
Thank you so much! I’m definitely inspired by the beauty of nature around me!🌿
Great tutorial, thanks.

Glad I found your channel- I enjoy listening to your accent and good ideas for stamps for pottery. I look forward to giving it a go. Amazing what you did with the tiny leaf design and so simple. Keep making more videos. Thank you 😊 by the way enjoyed the piano music as well. Who is the artist?
Thanks for watching! So glad you liked the stamp ideas and the leaf design. Yes, do give it a go! And the beautiful piano music is by Anna Landström. I’m glad you enjoyed it too!
I’m excited to try this and to make my own stamps! Thank you for creating these lovely videos. Do you mix your own glazes?
Thank you so much for asking! I don’t make my own glazes. I’m all about keeping things simple! I only use three glazes: a glossy white, a matte white, and a transparent gloss, which I buy ready-made here in the Netherlands. Glaze-making can get quite scientific, and I’m not naturally inclined that way, so I’m happy sticking to these commercial glazes that work beautifully for my pieces. Thanks again for watching and for your kind words!
❤
Margriet I love your pieces. Please share your work, as well as the techniques you use. Your style is inspiring and beautiful. Post whenever you can, thank you for your generosity. Kisses from Rose, Brazil
Thank you, Rose! For your encouragement, so kind🙏🏻
Thank you for creating this video and your inspirational words 🙏 I’ve been struggling to learn using the wheel and have found hand moulding easier. Your video has sparked inspiration for what’s possible using just your hands 🙌 . Beautiful mug 💕 and keep creating ✨
Thank you so much! This is exactly why I make my videos. I’m so glad to hear they inspire you. I also find handbuilding a more relaxed way to work with clay, so I’m glad it helps. Keep enjoying the process!
So pretty!
loved this! thank you!
Your English is fabulous! So much better than my Dutch! You go girl❣️
That’s so sweet! Thank you for the encouragement!
You are so inspiring. More videos please :) I love what you said about beauty.
Thank you so much🙏🏻
Thank you for sharing your work, I am just starting out and I found it so inspiring to see how you use your "mistakes" and to know that that still can happen after 15 years puts things in perspective and helps me relax into this process of learning. I love your work and your style!
Thank you so much for your kind words! I’m happy to hear it inspired you. Making 'mistakes' is all part of our journey. Take your time and enjoy learning. Wishing you lots of joy with your ceramics!"
Beautiful Cups! And wonderful tutorial on your process! Thanks for sharing.
Thank you🙏🏻
Thank you - I really like seeing the “trial and error” part of the process!
Haha thank you! I truly believe that trial and error often leads to the best results. I’m glad you enjoyed that part of the video!
Boas vendas. Tdo muito lindo.❤

Very nice 👍 thank you
Hi Margaret …. Congratulations and thank you for sharing your love for simplicity and beauty …. I am 2 years into clay, handbuilding and 71 years old … yes you inspire me to start sharing too … and not look for perfection ….
Thank you🙏🏻! So lovely to read this. Lots of fun with your pottery journey! And please share; you could (will!) be an inspiration for people that are just starting with clay. Especially women in their 50, 60, 70’s who want to try clay as a hobby. And there are a lot of them, trust me! Enjoy😘
Hi Margreit. I think your English is very good. My youngest daughter moved from Canada to the Netherlands about 5 years ago. She is in Den Burg on Texel and working on completing her PHD in Marine Biology. She has taken Dutch lessons and is fairly comfortable with it now. Congratulations on your new venture of posting videos on RUclips. I am working on the courage to do the same. I am 67 and just retired in May. I'm hoping that I will now have more time for pottery and possibly beginning my own journey with posting RUclips videos. I'm looking forward to following you.
@@maryleeedwards1082 Thank you so much for your kind words. One of my daughters has also just graduated in Biology. About starting on RUclips; I completely understand those feelings, Marylee, I had them too! But once you start, it can be such a rewarding experience. Don’t be afraid to give it a try!
@@studiolukkili Hi Margreit. Thank you for the encouragement. I will definitely work towards it. I look forward to following your work.
Such beautiful work...and an actual windmill for backdrop. Priceless! And, Margriet, you did ASMR for a few seconds there when you rolled your hand-made beads between your fingers! If you add a few extra minutes of that kind of content (sensory sounds) to your already mesmerizing videos I have a feeling you'll find an even wider audience for your gorgeous art work. 👍✨🌍🕊️
Ha😄 thanks for the tip! Maybe I should give that a try. Thank you!😊
Hi Margriet 👋 New subscriber. Your English is beautiful (lovely accent) and I love your amazing ceramic tutorials. I predict you'll be a smashing youtube success. Many thanks for sharing your talents...greetings from California. 👋
Thank you so much, Sharee Anne! So kind🙏🏻
Love your esthetic. Thank you for sharing and I hope to see more videos soon.
