How to perform a combat knife throw?
Просмотров 7772 месяца назад
As I see it there are two styles of instinctive throwing. First style: - is based on a push-motion - puts the throwing arm in the main role - performs well in competition because it’s simpler and less explosive - is more isolating and thus more prone to cause shoulder injuries Second style: - is based on a pull-motion - sets the body in the main role - is more of a combat throw than an accuracy...

    I have a question, when throwing, should I let the knife slide through my hand or push it? What exactly is the method?

    • @joelholopainen6865
      @joelholopainen6865 10 дней назад

      Let it slide out from your hand. That is simpler. One moving part less and faster throws are possible with it. Before I used to push but later I found it unnecessary.

      Hi Joel, me again, sorry for the inconvenience. I'm having a little difficulty getting past the 3 meter distance in "no spin", because instead of that it did a half spin, I'm making the knife slide, how do I fix this? How do I decrease the rotation while maintaining the force, I think the detail of the hand and what to do with it is the most difficult for everyone and the right way to slide.@@joelholopainen6865

    I don't know why but with no spin, always at 4 meters and beyond, my torso has to jerk forward to keep the knife from overturning. At 6 meters it's a struggle to keep from overturning even when my torso jerks forward. Mabey I am not following through enough or I am not using my index finger properly but it feels like I have to change something at 5 meters and beyond or I overturn. The angle of release has to change I am assuming.

    Amazing to watch, you have great style and power to achieve the distance throws. I have heard before that the half spin is the same as the no spin throw, it does not work for me this way. But I can't use the technique much past 3m either. It is 'skanf'? , a great style but so much more difficult to master, (for me) I will persevere. Always an inspiration to watch you throw🙏

    • @joelholopainen6865
      @joelholopainen6865 Месяц назад

      After long time of studying SKANF I still don’t what is it. There is no clear definition. In this video, from 1:35 on, you can see Fedin throwing half spins which behave like no spin: ruclips.net/video/pHJdN_ySTxo/видео.htmlsi=csHCCcdIk2pdV6Rq I think he had a theory about wave-energy going not only from the lower body to the hand, but into the tip of the knife as well. I might be wrong.

    • @atrocious_pr0xy
      @atrocious_pr0xy Месяц назад

      @joelholopainen6865 I've been able to achieve overhand waves that i felt the energy go through like a whip, but I'm having a hard time with consistency using other angles. Even then, i push the knife too much

    • @gondaft

      @@joelholopainen6865 thank you for the reply, I have heard from others the same, not sure what skanf is.. As always, the throwing is highly impressive. Note the distances on some of these throws: a casual throw from 12 meters isn’t casual at all. I suppose I should be focusing on the knife being highlighted, but Joel could throw an inflated aardvark from 10 meters and stick it. Repeatedly. With/without rotation. --> No inflatable aardvarks were hurt in this theoretical example. 😉
